FYI appears that Diaga is Divine based - I have no SS of it, but cast Diaga on a NM tonberry during CoP 7-4 and I got a skill up! All other magic skills are capped.

Didn't know about Diaga's effectiveness vs Blink, highly informative.

According to the Spring 2004 Strategy Guide, the Prime Element table on page 30, shows the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" effect of the elements in Final Fantasy.

I think this chart clears up the whole "Damage Over Time" (DoT) spell controversy.
Also my experience in watching the Battle Spam in parties seems to show the same flow of elements.

These Spells are as follows;
DIA (DEF down effect)
BIO (ATK down effect)
BURN (INT down effect)
FROST (AGI down effect)
CHOKE (VIT down effect)
RASP (DEX down effect)
SHOCK (MND down effect)
DROWN (STR down eefect)

Charts reads as follows;

Light Cancels Dark
Dark Cancels Light

Fire Cancels Ice
Ice Cancels Wind
Wind Cancels Earth
Earth Cancels Thunder
Thunder Cancels Water
Water Cancels Fire

so if we replace the Element in the chart with a DoT spell;

DIA Cancels BIO
BIO Cancels DIA

BURN Cancels FROST
FROST Cancels CHOKE
CHOKE Cancels RASP
RASP Cancels SHOCK
SHOCK Cancels DROWN
DROWN Cancels BURN

According to the chart the only 2 spells that can cancel each other are DIA (Light) & BIO (Dark)
All others follow the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" Rule (Frost Cannot cancel Burn, Choke Cannot cancel Frost, etc.) (although some believe Dia & Bio are based on which ever spell is the higher level stronger one cancels the other & there is validity to that claim)

So I hope this helps clear up some things. Please don't rebutt this post with more hearsay & unconfirmed theories. I got this all out of the game rules, if you think its wrong or not entirely correct, test it for yourself. All I know is that when a fellow BLM casts BURN, my FROST "Has no effect" which according to chart, follows the game's logic.

Happy Nuking.

Destroys Blink
# Jul 14 2004 at 8:27 PM Rating: Good
This spell, when casted on a mob that has previously casted Blink, will remove the Blink effect from the mob. Thus, it is very effective against Goblin Leechers and Ninja-type mobs, because it removes the shadows and allows melee and magic users alike to deal damage to the mob immideatly, instead of waiting for the Blink effect to wear off.

This is an AOE spell. Great for farming, get a lot of mobs around you, cast this on one, and they all get the Dia effect.

Does the same damage as regular dia, and same DEF down effect. 1 HP per tick.

more powerful

Well I don't have this spell yet but all the BLM GA spells are much more powerful then the single target ones. For example Stone I hits for approx 20dmg while Stonega hits for approx 75dmg. I'm assuming this holds true for Dia and Diaga.

How does this spell work? If your party is killing one monster and you cast diaga...will it effect all monster in the area...making them all attack you?

I haven't agroed any 'other' monsters with this spell. I don't know what exactly it's supposed to do, that dia doesn't. I might not have been in range of another mob when I casted though, so don't take my word on it. Try going to beginning lvl zone and cast one two adjacent rabbits or worms and see what happens

Wo... watch out it is an AoE. If your party is killing stuff that gives you exp you probably do not want to pull another mob. Use caution when using any -ga spells in a party.

Does anyone know if this stacks with Dia and Bio? Thanks

From what i've seen, it doesnt stack with Dia since it is just an AE dia. However, it does seem to do more dmage, just as banishga does more than banish.
