shield bash is the first pld hate ability and it even does damage! =D

This is a REAL handy skill, with 2 main uses:
1) Getting hate: If you lose hate but cant provoke, a quick bash should keep there attention long enough for your next voke. Its not much but its a small spike.
2) Interupting Spells: This is the main function! not "Deal Huge Damage" or whatever its says there... (someone needs to change that!). As soon as you see "*monster* starts casting Firaga II" >>> "oh no you didnt!" > Blam! Shield bash to avert major damage to PT! the brief stun cant really be used for anything else (except to avoid 1 hit, but it must be w-e-l-l timed!) it has saved my ass so many times when used like so! ^_^ of course its good to stop things like stoneskin being cast aswell! so your DD's can tear into them >=)

With Clipeus, I consistently do 6 damage with Shield Bash to all enemies. And for hate, I haven't seen it pull much in. I didn't have hate at the time, so I tried to get it back with Shield Bash alone, and that didn't work. :\

if you want to get the mob off of the whm after ben use invisible, if you want hate use provoke if you see mob going after mages and provoke not ready sheild bash same with flash.

i wish i could find out how much damage it adds pur lvl but i think it goes up a point every 2 lvls i will find out later and get back and correct. well goodluck to all plds.

Shield Bash doesn't do major damage. As a level 28 PLD, I'm still striking IT's for 9 damage with my Kite Shield.
Also: it's /recast is 5 minutes, not 10 minutes -- which isn't bad.
It does, however, have a chance of stunning the enemy, which in and of itself will grab the mob's attention a good amount of time, and should be part of every Paladin's hate routine each fight that it's available. Also, when it does stun, it will interrupt certain TP abilities on mobs (Bomb Toss, for example, is most notable; I personally use Flat Blade for a nearly guaranteed stun).

o.O Not sure about Rampart, but Holy Circle, Cover, Sentinel, and Shield Bash have a 5 minute recast time, not 10.
Holy Circle, Sentinel, and Cover only lasts for 30 seconds, not 3 minutes...I -wish- it was 3 minutes.

The timer for this is not 10 minutes.
I wished the time rest would be like 1 min, you could chain goblins then, without waiting it to be ready again.

Yes, it should read does minor damage and angers target, with a chance of stunning it.

I've noticed that the shield bash also generates alot of agro. Anyone else notice that it seems about as good as a regular provoke?

what increases the effectiveness of this - skill-wise? Does shield skill or level do anything?
