i used it asap when i lvled up i covered a RDM who had red-hp and i stood up front but still the RDM took every hit the mob gave em'

I love this ability... Saved my ass so many times. Rangers are great, but their armor is made out of paper mache.

Cover duration with Gallant Coronet equipped extends it to 45 seconds.
I was relatively certain Cover lasted 30 seconds normally, not 15. I could be mistaken on this however.

o.O Not sure about Rampart, but Holy Circle, Cover, Sentinel, and Shield Bash have a 5 minute recast time, not 10.
Holy Circle, Sentinel, and Cover only lasts for 30 seconds, not 3 minutes...I -wish- it was 3 minutes.

Actually, I am quite positive that Holy Circle is a 10 minute recast. This ability is exactly like Arcane, Ancient, and Warding Circle, except affecting only Undead types instead of Arcana, Dragon, and Demon types respectively.
Death is not a sign of failure. Rather, it is the ultimate service that can be rendered by one such as myself.
This is a must for all parties with BLM's casting ancient magic. Ancient magic gives the mob immediate 150+ TP and if you're not under cover by a paladin (or blinked) you will take an immediate special attack. I learned that the hard way, sickle slashed in quicksand caves for over 500 damage, i'm a taru, i didn't have a chance.

Yeah i was gonna say with ninja you're fine to. I'm a 61 tarutaru ninja and I can easily cover a blm mbing freeze on a distortion skillchain using howling fist> dancing edge. The mob doesn't look twice just because the Thf SA TA onto me. So yes with a party not using a ninja and thf to SA TA off him a pld with cover is a must for using ancient magic.

i have seen a PLD deflect attack with his shield while cover was in effect, so i would assume parry would work as well.
does anyone know if Cover will transfer the hate from the poor sap to the PLD, or is all the still there when Cover wears off?

The hate does not transfer. If cover wears off and the PLD has not successfully gotten back the hate, the mob still punishes the poor guy who was being covered.
I've most often seen this used to cover a low-def PC at the end of a high-damage skillchain (i.e. RNG). Cover buys time for the PLD to ready Flash/Provoke/Cure III and regain hate if that 1200 Damage Sidewinder at the end of the skillchain pulls the hate to the RNG.

Pretty sure i used this last night and the duration was 15 sec and the recast time was 3 min. and btw Holy Circle is a 10 min recast not a 5.
