Here's the bottom line:

When you're a lowbie, EES owns all.
Then you get Barrage, which, while somewhat random is almost on par with EES if all 5 shots land, but you can use it every 5 mins not every 2 hrs.
Finally you get Sidewinder, a very nice WS that is inaccurate but with the right setup lands 95% of the time.
The only advantage to having EES after you get Sidewinder is that it doesn't require TP(though you can use an icarus if you need to for Sidewinder) and is 99% accurate. Imo, post lvl 55, this 2hr is {Too Weak} and really almost useless except to finish an exp chain fast. Especially with the latest RNG nerf, they should give us an ability that let's us solo easier, something that works equally well in melee range. ><;

Actually can u tell me what the right set up is? what lvl is ranged attack 175 at? What gear do you reccomend?

This is also useful if the tank is close to death and you need a bunch of hate in a hurry to get the mob off. Sure backup tanks should have it handled, but with the massive damage of RNG keeping hate high to begin with and (hopefully) Utsusemi from NIN sub, the time saved from waiting on Raise Weakness to wear off a dead tank more than makes up for a shot that couldve been used to speed up an Exp Chain. ^_^

at lvl 3 i did 175 dmg to an even match with this!!! holy sh**!! one of the best 2hr's available

Meh...this is nothing compared to a SMN's 2H ^^
Not only does it do more, you can use it
3 times before the 2H timer is up (Astral Flow last 3.5 or 4 minutes... not sure), and by 3 times, I mean that's how many the can do at lvl1, there is gear that may cause them to be able to do it more XD

While Astral Flow is more powerful, it takes time to set up. Even if the avatar is already out, you have to activate the 2hr, then activate your bloodpact (if your BP timer is at 0 currently). while this could be really fast, you would have to have Astral Flow on macro w/ Diamond Dust or Inferno or whatever either on the same macro or another seperate one. Astral Flow is slower, possibly just enough that you will be too late to save a member. However, a single BP from Astral Flow often seems to out-damage Eagle Eye Shot, and you CAN do it 3 times.

I personally think Astral Flow might be the most powerful 2-hr in the game for damage purposes, but not for speed. (Drg truthfully has the most damaging 2-hr, but that doesn't fit under instant damage 2-hr)

Edit: against IT's in Crawler's Nest I use Shiva (for Axe-Kick > Piercing Arrow = Fragmentation SC w/ my Ranger Fiance) and Diamond Dust deals ~550-650 damage each time (1650-1950 total)

In my personal opinion I think this can quite possibly be the most party-friendly 2hr of all time. Need to finish the battle before party members start dying? DING! EAGLE EYE SHOT!! Poor bastard..

Hundred Fists is useful along the same lines but without the sheer strengh and speed of a swift Eagle Eye Shot up the ass.

I find it strange how useful this 2hr can be...does massive and I mean MASSIVE amounts of damage AND never misses...how does this compare with other job's 2 hrs? It is simply too good.

as far as EES gos at the end of the game it is not all that great. lower lvls it is the best if u ask me but at the end after you get sidewinder and slug shot not much to it. the ws's start doing more dmg then your 2hr. in many of my pt's rangers use their 2hr to keep a good chain going to deal nice dmg fast.

thats not true, i was duoin with a rng (i was pld) we were in ghelsba, we decided to fight a very tough grunt, i started off, then used invincible, she used eagle eye shot, it missed, and she had used sharpshot just b4, so both were going... so that must b false...

invincible is anoyther awsome 2HR but eagle eye shot sounds better

As a lvl 44 ranger, i knew i was going to log so i ran over to a land worm outside of bastok, and decided it was his turn to die. Eagle Eye Shot hit for 1987 dmg. I have a blm friend who can back it up. He just said one thing "Wow.........." then "I could do that with Manafont" to which i replied "Yes, you could. But can you do it in ONE shot (or cast, or even just one second)." Never got a response on that question. By the way, this CAN miss, which is the lamest thing ever. I missed a bat in Garliage and a Wight (or something like it) in Gusgen.... totally lame. Later y'all, rate my posts :)

i use this ability if i am in need of a big chain while soloing worms. usually i start it off with a T worm in shak maze, kill it, cure1, move to next and hit it a few times then flaming arrow, move to the next worm, cure1, fire off two shots then eagle it. chain #2 in less than 8 minutes and 600xp in your pocket. chain #2 160-200-240.

Moktardswife from Kujata again. Before I headed to school one day I decided to fire off Eagle as a lvl 16 ranger at a "Too weak" near Windurst Woods. Used it and did 918 to a Tiny Mandragora. God I love my ranger. =D
