Yes INT helps this spell, as it helps all 'black' spells. If you look to the left of any spell you have learned you'll see the 'info ball' which denotes the spells base element & if it's white or black, white spells will have a cross in it while black is a swirling vortex, all white is MND andd black is INT.

I'm currently working on this quest. I am headed back to sandy for some more la theine cabbage I already traded 26 stacks and that's all about 312 things of cabbage. HOW MUCH CABBAGE DO THESE SHEEP EAT!?!!? yeah well I just wanted to know how much fame you actually need in order to get all of the spells.

I love this spell. I just wish that I could remember to use it from time to time. lol

I used to have a few mules for my character and I would always race them to rank 2 within 3 hrs and do 15 unique quests, triggered the drain quest no problem, got the scroll, sold it for the gil for crafting.

But now it looks like something changed. I've got 20 quests done and rank 2... yet, now I can't get the stupid quest to trigger. Anyone else have this problem?

Just reading some of these posts from back ing tha day. I just started my Chracteur again and I am at the poimnt where i really want Drain. It now cost 400k at any AH. An to think we were complaining about 20k and 35k man o man I wish.

Where do I get this quest? I'm thinking about getting Drk, so I need to know. And what are the requirements?

This spell can do almost double a cure spell for me (which is pretty big cuz im only lv 23 :() and it also does damage to the mob. I enjoy using this spell on lv1 mobs and killing em instantly while curing myself. This spell is just fun

i have no fame in sandy >< so im farming bat wings for fame cuz i sure as hell am not paying 90k for drain in windy/sandy/bastok or 110k in jeuno and 75k in kazham >< pandemonium server

This spell does damage based on your Dark Magic skill, and retores some of your HP too. Even if it says that it drains 0 HP because you're at full, it will STILL do damage to your target. Great spell to have, use it every times you can. It can end up doing 200+ damage at the higher levels and it'll only cost you 21 MP..

im from windurst. and a BLM lv 12. the most money i have ever really had is 5k. Drain is at the AH for about 23k, and just want to know if it is really worth it. (plain and simple)

Anyone have a rough formula on how effective drain is for different levels of mobs?

I'm guessing it would be something involving dark skill, int, day, enemy resistance/element and maybe a few other factors.

For both damage and hp restored, if possible.

Im from windy, what guy do i talk to in S D?

Only place I saw this spell available was at Windurst AH, going for about 19,000 gil, no lie; in Siren server. I didn't buy it because of the steep price, but, don't tell me I will have to travel all the way to San D'Oria, just to get it.... lol!
If anything I will travel there, buy 99 scrolls of it, and then get rich by selling it in Windurst!

I think this spell works when you got room to heal cause I notice that I drain 0 hp if my hp is full, but I can drain 25 if I get hurts

this is what i did to get the Drain Scroll.

one you need to do more mission to enter the chateau.

2nd, i bought about 8k worth of bat wings, then i traded it to that guy till i gave him all of them. with the money he gave me for the bat wings, i bought more, then traded it to him again, and bought more with the money he gave and etc. i did this until i was no longer able to buy any more batwings after trading them all. that got me enough fame to get the scroll. you may need to spend a bit more, depending on your overall fame before doing this.

What you talking about I cast it just fine as a 26Red Mage In Khazam, and have no problem casting inbattle...

Im courrently working 2 main jobs
15 DRK/WAR
40 BLM/WHM

The drain spell simply rocks, and be cause my dark magic is always caped with my DRK, I usually drain 35-50 HP from the even matches ending with quite a lot of HP.

My DRK has 2 Physical earrings that gives him +50HP, 296 total, plus the drain. I only can cast 1 time be cause I ended with only 22MP but thats more than enough, forget about Decent chellanges, I have almost no down time with those. When fighting in party, its a very difrent story tho, usally draining less than 25 from the VT/IT and some times 50 (not often).

And with my BLM well, I think this spell is particulary more helful for DRK but messing around with Goblin leechers I drain about 115 HP from them at LV40 with 117 Dark magic level.

OMG I love this spell. It was worth the 18k I paid for it. I can solo pretty well Tough-Very tough monsters right now. If I cast Drain at 1/3 of my life I am getting 50-80 HP back.

Ok im a hume Dark Knight lvl 15. i am from bastok and i want drain really bad. i was told it was useful to the fullest. i was told that i need 17 sandorian quests for the guy in the jail to give me the quest. i already have the beastmens blood and im ready to go. i already did 17 quests like the person said to do. but i got nothing yet. do i need mroe fame? and does anybody know how many quests are required to accept the drain quest?

For non-San d'oria residents: How many quests have you done in San d'oria? I've done most of the low level ones listed in the strat guide and, since I'm not on Bastok mission 6 yet, I don't know how much more fame I need.
