How can i a 39WHM/BLM who just got his SMN, get my hands on Ifrit? Is it even possible for me to do this?

OK, currently I'm a Lvl 11 Galkan Smn (thank you astrals). This is how I somewhat understand avatar battles.
First off, you gotta be lvl 20 to do the solo avatar battles. You need to get the proper quest activated (in this case Trial Size Trial By Fire). I do not remember the NPC you have to talk to. But you will receive a mini-tuning fork. I believe you get teleported to the area near the battle arena. Its best to fight avatars on their weak days (Shiva on Firesday, for ex.) There are several websites and postings on the way to beat them, some on this site (and a video, thanks allakhazam!). They are all pretty similar in strategy. Hope this sorta helps.
