Cheapest anywhere should be in Selbina under the bridge where the two guys are standing that sell higher level black and white magic spells.
I think it's something like 6-6.5K.

I dont quite know how the cast time system works but I dont see how this cast time is 11 and Banish II's cast time is like 3.5

im a paladin and banish II takes far longer to cast than protect II
can i kill?

Can i get this by killing something ... i'm cheap and prefer to kill stuff for spells when i can ... do any of those greedy gobs drop this (like the leachers who drop ProtectI)?

I'm a 32 whm and I didn't by Protect II because it's 8k and I still haven't bought other group buffs like Barfira and Baraera simply due to a lack of funds. I only bought Protectra II because the group thing is more important than helpin passerbys, and even if you do cast Protect II in newbie areas, it lasts half the time of Protect I because they are lower level (function determines how long a spell will last based on caster's level and recipients level) So, good luck to anyone who does want Protect II cast on you at lower levels, I tried PLing with it and it would hardly last more than a few fights.

This is from what I've seen:

Protect = +10 DEF
Protect II = +25 DEF
Protect III = +40 DEF
Protect IV = +55 DEF
Protect V = +70 DEF

Personally, I'm only positive about the first three, but there seems to be a pattern, so the last two are by assumption. :)

On Bahamut, I had a whm insult me (stfu you n00b) because i thought it was silly that he didn't have protect2. He thought it was useless and that protect1 sufficed. =\

well, in one way he is right and in another, not quite right. For a 27whm, protect II isn't necessary because he/she is ptying the whole time, so Protectra II is more practical...why should he/she spend money on another spell just to cast on passerby's..... so thats my idea. If you want a WHM to cast a buff spell on you, and you are just passing by, be happy with Protect I, and if you're lucky, maybe he's taken the step and got Protect II, but not likely........I have both...ha ha.

I like having all of the spells possible when I am playing so that I can always shoot off a spell on a random passerby that it could help. If they are a level close to or higher than mine, they get Protect II, otherwise Protect.

It's a nice thing to do, and it can help you cap out your enhancing magic skill.

I have the single target version currently for my RDM, but am buying the *ra when I get my WHM high enough. If you can afford it WHMs, please buy the single version - it is so useful after you raise somebody of a similar level... I don't have Raise yet, but whenever I'm out as a RDM and I see somebody get a Raise, I will cast sneak and invis on them until their weakness wears off (unless I'm in a super big rush). Then I'll heal them to full unless they have a WHM with them.

A guy cast this on me and it gave me 25+ defense.
