Using usb type c or thunderbolt. Plug the monitor directly into the port and it has power or does it need a wall outlet. I wanted to get 24 inch monitor for my gaming laptop.

Monitors need wall power to operate. I am unfamiliar with USB C and thunderbolt.

USB, even the latest USB technology only outputs milliamps and a low voltage. It could possibly power a small screen the size of a cell phone but nothing much bigger I'm sure.
