Just a quick tip to get you to level 6 fame in Jueno in 1 hour or less(assuming you have the money).

Melyon in Selbina will pay premium price for any of the following: Five heads of La theine cabbage (100g), three ears of millioncorn (120g), One clump of boyahda moss (600g).

Grab 10 stacks of Boyahda Moss and go to town on hand ins. For every 1 you turn in he will give you 600gil and some fame in San D'Oria and Bastok. This fame from San D'Oria and Bastok in turn boosts your Jueno fame. You can only hand in 1 at a time. Total hand in time for 10 stacks of 12 is about 40 minutes and will bring you to fame 6 in Jueno.

The moss is often for sale for 500-600 Gil a piece at the AH, so you might even break even on gil or turn a slight profit depending. 10 stacks will bring you to at least level 6 fame in Jueno/San D'oria/Bastok. You can hand in more, but the return in fame given seems to drop off after lvl 6 with this quest.

10 stacks of 12 costs about ~72,000-75,000 Gil from the auction house, but you get most of that back after the turn ins. If i remember correctly i spent ~74,000 on moss and got ~72,000 back after turn ins.

If you cant find any moss at the AH then you can farm them off Goobues(the big grey looking things).

Goobbue locations

Ancient Goobbue Lvl 74 - 77 Boyahda Tree
Elder Goobbue Lvl 74 - 77 Boyahda Tree
Goobbue Lvl 22 - 25 Pashhow Marshlands
Goobbue Farmer Lvl 28 - 32 Rolanberry Fields
Goobue Gardener Lvl 40 - 43 Zi'Tah Sancutary
Jolly Green Lvl 27 - 28 Pashhow Marshlands
Old Goobbue Lvl 65 - 68 Boyahda Tree

After doing this im known as "Lord Jowaa" to the fame NPc's in Jueno.

Can you do this with any of the items or just the moss?

Just to add a tiny bit of info:

The best time to buy moss is, based on my observations, after about 9-10 AM PST. This is basically after JPN prime time, when their farmers have put on the Jeuno AHs the mosses that they collected (there are more high level JPNs and more low level NAs therefore you buy high level stuff after JPN night time and you buy crystals after NA night time).

On my server, you can usually get Moss after that time for about 6k a stack, which turns 100 gil profit per moss. That's a healthy 20k+ profit for maxing Bastok, San Doria, and Jeuno fame.

If you buy during NA prime time.. you usually end up paying 7k or 7200 for a stack and barely make anything... Granted the max fame is nice... but max fame while making a profit is even nicer.

I don't remember if Selbina has someone you can talk to to check your fame. But you can track your progress with the White Magic Scrolls seller just behind the building you are outside of to turn in moss. When Haste costs 18000 gil to buy, that is when you hit the bare minimum and have achieved max fame (or when Banish 2 is 8100, Raise is 5187... etc). Any guesses on what I do for a living on my server? =P

Takes about 20 stacks or so to achieve max fame. I don't remember the exact # but hey if you are going to make a run you might as well buy all the moss there are for sale for under 7200.

If you are lazy and don't want to walk back then bring a scroll of warp with you. When I did this I didn't have Teleport nor Warp, nor did I do Zulkeim Region supply quest, and I wish I would have paid 750 CPs to save myself like 20-30 minutes real life time.

~Nall

EDIT:
Yes, you can do this for every item but Moss is the overall best one to do since you can actually turn a profit. Millicorn is sold by the Aragoneu regional vendor and is 43 a piece at max fame. That means you lose 9 gils for each time you complete the quest... which isn't bad... but not as good as making gil. I'm not sure on the cost and how to obtain La Thiene Cabbages... but logic says... given the name...

Hope that helps,

~Nall

This was posted in the tradeskill forums awhile back.. it's now commonly called the "cabbage run" for sand, bast, and jeuno fame. :)

I've found the moss to be somewhat not available on my server.. but I only did it one day for quick fame.. I emptied my inventory and did moss and cabbage. Only 3 stacks of moss were available, I didn't have the ambition to check other countries at the time for moss, I just wanted to teleport quickly with moss and cabbage and get the fame.

The corn has always worked out to be a bigger money loss than the cabbage to me, so I stick to cabbage and moss. I only did 2 trips to selbina with it.. 76 quests I believe is what I did.. 36 being 3 stacks of moss.. then the rest being cabbage. I think with teleport costs (200 each way) I was net -400 gil for my 76 quests.

I got the RSE and the gobbie bag quests with no problem after that, so I haven't done it since that one time.

If you can really get that much fame that easily... I'm willing to bet they will modify the quest in a patch sooner or later.

Ebrownlee, why would they bother? Fame in and of itself does little for you except offer access to more quests, and if you keep current on all the quests you can do for your level you will have enough to get the next set of quests anyway. This sort of quest is included mostly for the power-gamer who is after specific high-level quests and Avatars. If you look into it, most cities have one or two quests of this sort.

Happy faming!

You can buy La Theine cabbages from a merchant in South San'doria I think.

You can also get them from Steppe Hares in La Thiene as drops, or you can steal them.

Just a FYI.

You can also buy cabbage from a regional merchent in Bastok Port (lady next to the kid selling maps I think) I think I got it for 25 gil a head. I am not sure what exact region the merchent was importing from however.

Doole: I hear stories in our linkshell all the time about things that were changed for the disadvantage of the player. Of course, the effects aren't retroactive, so it ends making things harder for those ignorant and/or new who didn't benefit from it. This quest isn't at all like the quests you mention in each nation that are repeatable. According to the original poster this gives you fame in San d'Oria, Bastok, and (as a result) Jueno.

Essentially by sitting there and trading the moss to this guy for only an hour, you accomplish a task that could otherwise only be done through travelling to each nation and completing a significant amount of repeatable quests there. The travel time alone could very well be 30 minutes, in which you would have already attained a good deal of fame had you known better.

I truely hope they don't gimp it in an update.

speaking of quests.. is there a repeatable quest in bastok and/or windurst that doesnt require zoning between trades (like the bat wing and rabbit hide quests in San dOria)?

Anyone wanna profit off this little venture? If you have the money to do so, buy out the entire stock of cabbage at the AH and either do the quest yourself (to deplete the AH) then any cabbage u find on the AH later buy it and resell it at higher than quest value. Believe me it works, I do this in Windurst with Crawler Calculi. Quest gives 600 for 3 calculi, sold for 200 on the AH. I over time bought all the stock on the auction house and either do the quest some more (whatever i can buy at 200) and resell the rest at 250-300. People will still buy it because of the repeatability of the quest and need for fame to get other quests and so forth.

Good way to make money and fame, while raising prices.
#12 Jan 28 2004 at 12:59 AM Rating: Excellent
There is a similar quest for Windurst. Cornettes. You can purchase cornettes for 217 a piece (give or take a few gils for market demand fluctuations) from the Music/Bard shop in Bastok.

Each cornette yields a 200 gil reward from this Taru in Windurst (details escape my mind, I'm sure Allakhazam has it).

Just fill up your mog house and/or delivery box and/or inventory with Cornettes and turn them in. The text delay on this one is even faster than the Selbina Moss/Cabbage/Millicorn guy so you accomplish it even faster.

Cheap price to pay so you can do the Mea scroll quest, Aspir quest, etc. Well worth it in my opinion.

The reason Moss/Cabbage/Millicorn gives Bastok/San Doria/Jeuno fame is because it is a Selbina quest. Fame obtained there are related to all three of those regions' fame.

By doing Cornette and Moss/Cabbage/Millicorn, you can hit max fame for all 4 major countries within hours. I'd estimate a brand new character that knows what they are doing and has a bit of help and capital can get max fame in Bastok, San Doria, Windurst, and Jeuno in about 3-4 hours.

Sorry to those that worked their way up the fame ladder through other paths, but this is the much more efficient method. Of course, if the reward to quests for you is completing the quest in itself then more power to you. I only get fame to obtain the best prices in each town. Some people like high level items, some people like the joy of questing, and I just like gil ; )

Jowaa, you rock. I am so very doing this when I get home today.

Here's a slightly slower quest, but you can (generally) make a better return than you could at the AH.

In Bastok, there's a quest where, at different times of the day, you can trade a Wild Onion to someone for 350 gil. This is better than (on Diabolos server) the price for a stack of 12 onions. 12x350=4200 gil. Works best with flee, since the house is kind of tucked away in the back of the Markets, and the zones are fairly far away. You only have a window of about 6 in-game hours to do this, so you have to be fast, but it works.

I've turned in around 30 stacks of moss, and made about 30k from doing this. It's great until people catch on.

I did this quest about 58 times last night, (gotta go back today to do some more ; ;) but.. I only checked the Bastok fame guy and my fame was ~level 4 "Your name has become barely known by people." (this is from 0 fame as I'm from Windy) But I haven't checked San or Jeuno yet. Some PLD in AF told me though (as he was also trading in items) that the fame from this quest only affects Bastok, Selbina and Rabao (note).

Can anyone confirm that this does indeed affect San / Jeuno fame also? Heh, sorry for being the skeptic ^^;

Note: --; not Rarab, but Rabao (or however you spell it)... was thinking of those little rabbits at the time I was posting ><

I can confirm that it works for jeuno and sandoria but I don't think it works for selbina because the bard down there told me I lack fame..

I did the missions because I saw some moss for sale at a good price, so I loaded up, teleported to dunes, delivered, tp'd back, and did it one more time. 76 quests total between those 2 trips of cabbage and moss.

I walked into the gobbie shop in jeuno, got my gobbie bag and rse quests, and also got the drain quest in sandoria.

I do not doubt that it works for every country except for windhurst.

Heard a few conflicting stories on jeuno fame. I'll list all three theories, not positive which is true.

1) Jeuno fame is any jeuno quests you have completed, plus the average of the fame in the kingdoms where you are LEAST popular (i.e., you have the least fame).

2) Same as above except the 2 that you have the MOST fame in.

3) It is the average of fame in all three kingdoms, plus any jeuno quests.

Ok I've done the quest 104 times total now. And when talking to Flaco in Bastok he said "Devul? I've heard of you. Keep working hard and eventually the people will come to recognize your name." I have no idea what level that is, it might be either 4 (which I had at 58 quests done I thought) or 5. I went to see if I could get the teleport-dem quest but I couldn't. --; Am I doing something wrong?

For those who say Fame isnt important..Summoners need high fame to get any summon. Also I belive theres a quest in khazam where you hand a man 15k and you get instant high fame. I haven't confirmed it. Somone said the man is in the inn or bar or w/e the local hangout is in Khazam.

Slint, is your rank bar full? I din't think Missions had anything to do with quest fames. I know that to get rank increases and the next available mission, your rank bar has to be full on your status info. I turned in a load of earth crystals and water crystals to fill it up =P. Plus...you get Conquest points for any extras you turn in after your bar fills, that's a lotta easy points considering you can get earth crystals for 300gil a stack! He wont accept any crystals though after it's filled. The NPCs you want are the ones that let you get items in your home city.

Ok, I did this last night with 10 stacks of Moss, and my Fame in Bastok went from 3 to 5 or 6. I think I'll do another 10 stacks today after school, to try and boost it even higher, but it really does work. Thanks again, Jowaa!

San Fame:
Ah, Devul. That is a name I often hear. People speak well of you! Your deeds for the kingdom have earned you much honor.

Level 4 after 128 repeats. Jowaa, how did you get level 6 with only 10 stacks? That's 120 repeats :|

Maybe Boyahda Moss gives more fame than millioncorn or la theine cabbage (both of which I've been using as I can't find any Boyahda Moss ><)?
