Ok, the above is just the details of where to get this quest, where to find the nm monster with the item to complete it.
The exploit is as follows ....
In Asura server a quu cost 200g. So if you spent a quu for this quest and got the reward that was 500g, you would be earning a 300g profit. That might seem little to you but read on .... sometimes a trickle can turn into a mountai =^-^=;
A stack of quus in the auction house (ah) cost 2000g, this is far cheaper than 200g per quu x 12 = 2400g. This will further increase the profit you get doing this quest 12 times using a stack of quus that is bought cheaper in bulk.
Let's do the math. 12 times doing this quest x 500g quest reward money = 6000g And your investment of a stack of quus is 2000g .... that means you can make a healthy profit of reward - investment = 4000g
If you don't have 2000g to start doing this, you can start with just one quu that cost 200g at ah and start raking in profit little by little till you get 2000g, from which point you can start getting HUGE profit.
It takes 7 times of doing this quest to get you 2100g using quus bought from the ah for 200g a piece by the way.
So, does the 4000g profit appeal to you ? No ? Ok well think of it this way.
Once you've got your profit of 4000g after doing your first stack of quus you bought for 2000g, you can invest that money on 2 stacks of quus.
So 2 quantity x 12 quus per stack = 24 quus = 24 times doing this quest ....
1 stacks = 4000g , 2 stacks = 8000g, 3 stacks = 12,000g, 4 stacks = 16,000g, 5 stacks = 20,000g
12 times , 24 times , 36 times , 48 times , 60 times
Ok now you now the profit figures are great but not so great on time o.O; 60 times back and forth from :-
Malene (House, Bastok Markets, I-5) >> Bastok Mines >> (South Gustaberg, M-10)
Not only is distance a factor but other delays like zoning to other areas + time spent on summoning and fighting Bubbly Bernie.
But never pheer, for mog is here =^-^=; for i have magic up my sleeves to cut the time of the traveling by HALF !
Ok this trick is by using a route called the back alley ways of mog houses .....
You will need to do another quest to get access to the back alley way route to speed up your money making scheme.
Quote:
Quest: To Be Stylish
NPC: Valah Molkot
Location: Bastok Port
Rewards: Ability to exit from any residential area in Bastok.
Walkthrough: Speak with Valah Molkot in front of the residential area in Port Bastok. Her request is for an Amaryllis, or a type of flower. You can accomplish this task by simply purchasing it in Upper Jueno at the shop there, or an auction house. Your reward will be the ability to exit from any residential area in Bastok.

Once you've done this you can use the back alley ways.
This is how it works.
When you go into a mog house, you can then double back and click on the door to exit. It prompts you whether you want to leave usually. But after doing this quest, it also asks you where you would like to exit.
This is how it is works in practice in doing the Bubbly Bernie run around.
Malene (House, Bastok Markets, I-5) >> Bastok Market Mog House >> Bastok Mines Mog House >> (South Gustaberg, M-10)
*Note when coming back from the light house, you do the opposite flow of this route. Use the Bastok Mines Mog House to get to the Bastok Market vice versa following the route and procedures described.
The only difference in going back and forth along this route is where you enter and exit from the Bastok Market Mog house region. There are 2 Mog Houses in the Bastok Market region technically.
When you come from from Bastok Mines Mog House, you exit to the Bastok Market, ok ... then go up the stairs take a right and go pass the metal works and down the flight of stairs going to the left then around the bend and straight to the old lady's house.
After getting the reward, come out of the house and go around the bend. Instead of returning to the Mog House thats past the metal works, just procede up the stairs and go straight down it to a mog house, rather than going right past the bastok metalworks and turning left and going down another flight of stairs.
This might seem insignificant to you, but it cuts down on down time and increases efficiency and thats what matters the most when doing this money making plan.
Whenever you run out of stacks of quus, get more at the Bastok Mines Auction house which is closest to the route when going back and forth.
Well thats basicly the procedure to getting money using this method. However now we will be delving into a even more FASTER way to do this .....
This Bubbly Bernie round around resolves around a white mage/ black mage job oriented class.
This is because you can use warp to go back and forth between getting the steam clock from Bubbly Bernie and giving it to the old lady for your reward. You will getting profit by the fly.
Notes about this repeatable quest money making exploit
===================================
1. You cannot hold more than one steam clock at any one time. Stealing other peoples Bubbly Bernies that they summoned using their 200g quu WILL NOT BENEFIT you as you won't get a steam clock drop if you already have one.
If you steal peoples bubbly bernies in this manner without using your 200g quu, you can get a profit of 500g without any reduction in profit. HOWEVER, this pisses people off and you sure don't want the attention because this will slow you down and get you in all sorts of trouble.
2. A lv 11-14 Red mage can beat Bubbly Bernie with some effort, and a lv 11-14 white mage cannot. This is wasting a lot of time fighting bubbly bernie. Just chop if just a few times and get the clock thats it, but don't spend so long on it or whats the point.
I recommend being lv 20+ If your a white mage or black mage, i recommend you be a higher level where you have access to the warp spell ability.
3. On the cliff close to the bush where you give the ???? a quu and also where Bubbly Bernie pops up, you can fish for quus yourself. Use Lug worm bait and a salt fishing rod. Since i have a good carbon and composite rod i use either one. If you catch a stack of quus you get the full 6000g profit rather than 4000g. If prices of quus ever raise up higher to lower your profit, you still can fish for quus without suffering any loss except the convenience of buying quus at the ah and giving a concession of 2000g from your earnings.
4. If you didn't read the quest info, this quest is repeatable don't worry.
5. If somebody gave the ???? bush a quu and Bubbly Bernie pops up, other people must wait until it is killed and it and the name high light fades away before somebody else can use a quu on the ???? bush OR ELSE you will have wasted your 200g quu o_O; so careful.
6. Fishing for quus is ok. Why i don't bother fishing for them is the time you waste fishing for them when you can do this run around quest. You can spend a few hours if you like fishing for quus and stocking them up for later, but i prefer doing it right here right now, so i buy at the ah and you still get a healthy profit. Theres nothing wrong if you opt for one over the other, though i favour buying your quu stacks from ah so you don't further delay.
7. Bubbly Bernie pops up every time you give the ???? bush behind the light house a quu except for the rules i mentioned above in rule number 6. I have done this roughly 60 times and he has always popped up and i have questioned dozens of players in game that do this that also confirm this.
8. Does Bubbly Bernie drop a steam clock every time ? YES. You don't need to be a fancy theif for increase item drop. Bubbly Bernie 100% drops the item every time. He however, only drops it if you don't already have on steam clock in your possesion.
9. When i'm at the bush summoning Bubbly Bernie i check left and right and make sure theres nobody around the bend ready to steal my bubbly bernie away from me, and i advise the same caution to you all.
If there other people around wanting to give the ???? bush a quu be wary. If i know the person and have seen the person doing this a few times already without disturbing me i don't worry about them stealing my bubbly bernie.
I have tested this stealing other peoples bubbly bernie to test the theory. The result -> pisses people off. I gave back the persons steam clock anyway :p cause it was only for testing purposes. Regardless, DO NOT DO THIS ! Don't aggravate your bubbly bernie run around neighbours :P
Take turns giving the ???? bush a quu. Also please don't all try give the bush a quu all at once. Disputes arise from situations like this with people shouting " Hei thats my Bubbly Bernie !!! ".
Last words ->
I've tested this myself and researched on it to the fullest and this was my experience ->
I was leveling none stop and came back to bastok from Jeuno a broke FFXI player >_<;
I started with an initial investment and did the prerequisites to do this quest repeatedly the most optimum way without having to level up a whm/blm and getting warp spells.
The result -> with starting money of 200g ii did this back and forth 60 times with some delays in between restoking and other factors to end up with 20,000 g which i spent 16,000g on an Angler Tunica fishing body armor that +1 to my fishing skill, with roughly 4000g loose change to spare.
Why this is one of the best ways of making money ->
1. Risk Free. Once you've bought the quus at those or lower prices, YOUR RETURN PROFIT IS GURANTEED! It's money waiting to be retrieved by a few back and forth traveling.
2. No hassle with waiting for items to be bought in Ah OR is it necessary to reduce your profits like lowering prices in ah just to get your money now and then. This method you can collect your money at your own time and luxury.
3. I thought it was profitable. I did this once and i delayed for quite a long time, but i believe that with total dedication you can make up to 50,000g IN A DAY ! How do you like them apples :p kupo!
*Yes you high lv players might earning more money in other ways and laughing at this, but this is one of the best methods for low ( lv 15 my rough estimate ) to medium lv players to make money.
4. You can make money + INCREASE YOUR FAME IN BASTOK at the same time ! sounds great don't it.
If your wondering how much fame can repeating quest get you, i have found certain sources of info that point out certain facts.
Ps: this is a small piece of somebody elses post but i can't recall the authors name or where i got it from so bewarned.

"After gil-farming numerous times, I realized a pattern that is specific in every city. As of now 1 quest = 1 point of fame in the city, no matter how basic, repeated, or high difficulty the quest may be. which means you can repeat the easiest quest 50 times and have the same fame you would doing only 1 time of 50 different quests. With this in mind, I tested qualifiers with breed in mind. First of all, keep this in mind:
San'Doria: Elvaan
Bastok: Hume/Galkan
Windurst: TaruTaru/Mithra
As a target, i used the ability to do the warp scroll quest in bastok as a fame qualifier, and found some interesting results:
Using Hume or galkans who have a bastok ring (the only breeds who can if they start in bastok), it took 10 completed quests to qualify for warp on the 11th quest. I then tried other breeds starting the game in bastok, each took 15 quests to qualify. Next I took hume/galkan people of other nations: 25 quests. Finally, I used my taru and it took 30 quests to qualify for the same blasted scroll.
So to sum it up:
FAME is equal to:
Quests x 1 : Player of city's breeds, allegiance to that city.
Quests x 1.5: Player not of city's breeds, allegiance to that city.
Quests x 2.5: Player of city's breeds, allegiance to a different city.
Quests x 3: Player not of city's breeds, allegiance to a different city.
Keep this in mind, if you want fast results in fame!"

Other notes ->
This info is my own except for some i refered to jog some pieces of info like names and cordinates to make a proper guide. I made this guide to help poor newbies like me and others to get those shiny new toys they always wanted that all those rich autofishing cheaters like to show off ~_~: grrr....
To people who think i gave away a nice money making secret to everyone else, well bah humbug. I believe that those poor people should know how to get money instead of being forced to beg. Even if quu prices rise as a result, fishing for a stack of quu yourself rather than buying from ah gives you a set profit of 6000g a stack.
Anyway that sums up the Bubbly Bernie money making run around by yours sincerely,
Mooglestiltzkin from Asura Server =^-^=;
