From what I have seen of the recipes and my own experience (which isn't large), what pot you use has *nothing* to do with *what* you get, rather it affects the *quantity.* More expensive pots tend to produce more of an item.

While waiting for the (insert explitive) patch, I'll throw in my 2 sense on gardening.

So far i have grown 40 cuttings,21 sapplings, and numerous other things, with 20 more sapplings and 10 more cuttings in the works. So far I have shown a gross profit of over 2 million gil. I say this for credibility only.

Let me break it Down.

1. As far as anyone knows everything is theory and Im too lazy to run mulivariate regressions to find out. Still, I use brass flower pots, plant on the day strong to the seed, feed on the day strong to the crystal, and harvest on the same day/full moon.

2. So far with Sapplings I have been 3/21 for dark ore (dark crystal x2), gotten countless stacks of rock salt, heaps of dark crystals, light clusters, and 2.5 stacks of persiskos. My cuttings have varied widely mainly becuase I tried many different combinations until I hit on platinum nuggets (light crystals x2, same for light ore with sapplings).

Tips:
1. Spend the extra dollar or two a month to have some mules. Once you get the startup capital you can grow 30 plants at a time.
2. Grow your own sapplings. Plant tree cuttings on ice day, and then just check up on them once a day. Dont feed them. You can net 15 sapplings from 10 cuttings on a good day.
3. When you go for elemental ore try for one type only as the sucess rate is low. It takes 9 days or so before you can feed the first crystal so I check AH in Jeuno to see which type of Ore is selling the best right before I feed crystals.
4. Use the Mithrapride Timer to figure out when to feed. You have over 24 hours to feed your plant so you can schedule ahead of time to get the right crystal day.

I planted Herb seeds in a Earthen pot and did not feed a crystal. My yeild was 1 green rock.

Unfortunately I did not check what time and day it was when I planted the seeds, I also did not check what time or day it was when I harvested (I did not know anything at the time).

Alright, just to get the straight. If I want Fire Crystals, I should:

1. Buy a Brass Flowerpot.
2. Plant my Vegetable Seeds on Lightningsday
3. Use a Water Crystal also on Lightningsday (or is it Firesday?)
4. Harvest on any day but Firesday.

Can you clarify part 3 and/or tell me I'm an idiot and don't understand anything? :)

Here is the example of a Fire Crystal crop, condensed:
The flowerpot is the Brass Flowerpot.
The seed is the Fruit Seed.
The crystal used is Water Crystal.
Plant the Fruit Seed on either Lightsday, Darksday or Watersday.
Feed the Water Crystal when the plant needs it.
You can do this again, seeing as how the seed is a Fruit Seed. You do not have to.
Harvest should be during the Full Moon, on any day except Firesday.

Full Moon:

Porcelain Pot x16
Tree Cutting
Wait 3 real life days
Light Crystal (didnt' check/bother for darksday)
Wait 3 real life days
Light Crystal (didnt' check/bother for darksday)
Wait 3-4 real life days
YEAH! Rock Salt, Dark Crystal and...........

200k worth of Platium Nuggets \(*ºoº)/

So basically, I get 100k every 10 days from each of my characters. So, if I follow this game and plan ahead with which days I should plant seed, feed crystal, and harvest, I could probably increase my harvest a bit and maybe get a bit more money. All I need it's 4 more characters so I can have 10 (included my friend's) and get 1 million every 10 days. HA, sounds easy, but waiting is soo hard...

A couple notes:

You have listed (copied) results for every seed/flowerpot type, flowerpot type does not affect the set of potential results, the seed does that. Flowerpot only affects quantity on some items.

You have listed (copied) 81 different combinations for fruit seeds, why not do some more research and cut it down to 18, 9 for first crystal (or lack of) added, 9 for the second. When gardening fruit seeds (and I assume tree cutting, tree saplings, and cactus stems) you either get a result from the first crystal or the second, not both.

You have compiled some good information, you just need to condense it.

These were some of the results I got gardening that were outside your ranges on the guide (I hope you will still update it).

All with Brass flowerpots: (Seed, Crystal -> Result)
Vegetable, Fire -> 20 popotoes
Vegetable, Wind -> 3 Rock salt (woohoo)
Grain, Lightning -> 10 Blue Peas
Grain, Wind -> 10 millioncorn
Vegetable, Water -> 20 fire crystals (!)
Grain, Lightning -> 2 marguerites

If you have any questions about the methods I used, just ask.

I thought the 20 fire crystals result was good, so I'll tell you more about that one. It was a vegetable seed planted on Ice day, nourished with Water crystal on light day, harvested on Lightning day with 98% full moon.

The research continues...

EDIT: oops, just read that it is now a guide. I'll put this post there also

Hi, this has been a wonderful guide and I appreciate the time that went into it. Its taken me a long time to finially take the plung, but today I started. I had 3 workbenches and 3 pots in my house for 3 weeks and have been too afraid.

My mog has not asked me to feed the plant though even though its been over a whole V week. Is this normal? I planted vegetable seeds.

I know that saplings take forever, but... Are we talking V days or earth days for waiting? Thanks.

You don't need a sticky. It's been reformatted in the game guides section and I'm posting the link there right now so it never gets lost.

May i ask...How did you find all this out? |+_+|
#50 May 04 2004 at 3:47 PM Rating: Default
Most of us started by experimenting, and sharing our results. I find that by watching the market, and planning my harvest results am able to make enough money for my needs, support other crafters in the LS, and take a few special requests.
One hint that I have, let your "mules" garden. It doesn't tie your main character down if you want to level.
#51 May 18 2004 at 2:54 PM Rating: Default
I've decided to do away with this rhyme i posted for now because there is still much debate on results.
