Furniture Storage and Moghancements - Theory and ListFollow

#1 Feb 26 2004 at 3:35 AM Rating: Excellent
The purpose of this thread is to collect into one spot what we know about furniture storage and Moghancements. If you missed today's announcement regarding this in the patch message, check out this link: http://www.playonline.com/comnewsus/200402262363.html. Unstoppable has also been working on theory and list (http://drunkchocobos.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=400#400) and has contributed here, if you want to read a second perspective on this info. Please post additions/corrections on this thread and I'll update the list.

MOGHANCEMENTS THEORY (REVISED 3/7/04)

1. Every item of furniture is associated to one element (fire, earth, water, wind, ice, thunder, light, dark). The element can be seen when viewing the furniture - it appears in the lower right using the same icons as used for elemental weather. Please note that the elemental icon for thunder is a lightning bolt. The purple swirl is for dark.

2. Every item of furniture also has one hidden effect - a Moghancement (see list). Although the element of the furniture will indicate some possible moghancements you will get, use the Furniture list below if you looking for a particular Moghancement.

3. The relative strength of the elemental influence imparted by types of furniture varies from weak to very strong. For example, the elemental strength of a flower pot is weaker than that of a bronze bed.

4. Flower pots (except porcelain) and rusty buckets appear to have the weakest elemental influence and therefore can be used to measure the relative strength of other furniture types. For example, if you have 2 flower pots and 1 flower stand in your house, the elemental effects are of equal strength and you get no moghancement. In other words, a flower stand can be said to be 2 "pots" strong. When measuring elemental influences, be sure to use furniture of different elements.

5. No matter how many pieces of furniture you have in your mog house, you can only have one effect at a time. Which effect you gets depends on which element is most dominant in your furniture scheme. To determine which element is dominant, add up elemental strength of each item of furniture (earth+2 is twice as strong as wind+1). It all the elements in your furniture scheme are of equal strength, you will get NO effect.

6. When you have more than one Moghancement present for the dominant element in your layout, you still only get one Moghancement. You will get the Moghancement of the furniture with the most element strength among those in the dominant element. For example, if the dominate element in your layout is earth and if you have a workbench (earth+6), a brass flowerpot (earth+1) and a yellow jar (earth+2), you will the Moghancement associated with the furniture with the strongest elemental influence, the workbench (Moghancement: Gardening).

7. It seems that placing many of the same furniture in your mog house will increase the Moghancement "aura". What effect the higher level of aura has is undetermined as yet. Adding other kinds of furniture to your layout may cancel the effect somewhat. MelDKio reports:
1-50 faint elemental energy
51-100 powerful elemental energy
101+ filled with elemental energy

The Moghancements
This list is not yet complete and may well be inaccurate. Please post additions/corrections on this thread and I'll update the list.

Moghancement: Dark - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a dark crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Desynthesis - When you fail using lightning crystal less chance of loosing material
Moghancement: Earth - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a earth crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Experience - Reduces the amount of experience lost when KO'd. Has no effect on Raise spells.
Moghancement: Fire - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a fire crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Fishing - Increases the chance of getting items when fishing.
Moghancement: Gardening - Reduces the chances of plants withering when gardening
Moghancement: Ice - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a ice crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Light - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a light crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Lightning - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a lightning crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Region - Raises amount of region points granted to your country during conquest.
Moghancement: Water - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a water crystal have failed.
Moghancement: Wind - Reduces the chances of losing materials when systhesis attempts utilizing a wind crystal have failed.

Storage
Storage on this list now reflects (or should!) exactly what you see on the item. When you place the item in your mog house safe, then "layout" to position it in your house, the number of storage slots listed are added to "Storage". Please post updates if you have them.

Furniture List
This list is not yet complete. Please post additions/corrections on this thread. The recipes shown herein came from http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/mt/eng/. I'm not sure they are more accurate than the ones on Allakhazam, especially trivials, but they did have recipes for all of the higher level combines.

Any idea how long "some time" is? Unless it sold overnight I have an Armoire in AH right now. I'd love to get the scroll out of it before selling it. Any idea if fame is a factor? I hope not. Thanks for the good info.

I believe "some time" is until after the next conquest tally, if it follows other Moogle "gifts". And I don't have any idea if fame is a factor. I suspect it is, as it is in the mog bed quests, but again I don't know for sure. Why don't you experiment for a couple of days before selling it? In the name of research? Smiley: smile

I got the Scop's Operatta a couple of days (real) after putting the stationary set in my house. Was during the middle of the week, didn't have a conquest update during the period.

The cupboard is fame based, it's a quest.

The other ones I'm not sure as I haven't done those yet.

i see from the list up there, that theres an earth element that improve fishing, and a water element that improves fishing. do you think that you might be able to get and "Additional" enhancement if all the elements in your mog house would give the same enhancement??

Odd...

I bought a "Book Holder", which "Light, STG:1>. I expected to get the Light effect of "Moghancement: Experience - Reduces EXP loss on death." Instead Moogle tells me that my house has a faint light, but it tells me that I've gained "Moghancement: Desynthesis" :(

I wonder if that's a bug or I've somehow completely misunderstood this.

I sure will if I can get it out of AH before it sells. One had sold in Jeno for 200k so I listed it at 250k. Once it's gone I'm not buying another for a very long time. :) Unfortunately I'm stuck at work right now. Where did you get the info about getting the scroll? Was it listed in the details of the moghancement or something?

I see that in your list you're using the term "increased moghouse storage". By that I understand that you mean storage given in excess of what it took away. Meaning that an item <STRG:1> gets a 0 in your list because it only gives back what it takes, not more.

I think you should change it to just "Storage : ?" to make it less confusing, and so the number in that property is the same as in the screenshots, avoiding everyone posting that "whatever" item is 1 strg, not 0, as can already be seen a lot in this thread. Either that or a lot of thread real estate will be spent explaining that you have to substract 1 from the on-screen storage to transform it into your "Increased moghouse storage" property.

Also, the DB needs to be updated with fields for each furnishing items, the field need to be : "Element" and "Storage". I'll try and take screenshot of the AH list to update DB.

I got moghancement: experience when i had "faint LIGHTNING" in my house, not light.

Not sure if that means the elements are light or lightning (I'd lean more towards lightning elements since thats what I have more of in my house and i have 1 light element). But most people are saying light is the effect, and a friend of mine did lots of experimenting last night.

All i know is the mog says "ligtning"

Just thought I would add my moghancement.

My Moghouse glows with Lightning Energy, and I got the Moghancement: Experience. (I think thats its name) Regardless, it is the enhancement that reduces XP loss when I am KO'd.

My Moogle must dislike me. ;)

I bought a "Flower Stand", <lightning STG:1>, and put it in the layout. Moogle tells me that my house is "currently aglow with faint lightning energy, kupo!"

However, I got "Moghancement: Lightning" in my Key Items. I guess flowerstand isn't it for "Moghancement: Experience".

If any of you have "Moghancement: Experience", would you mind sharing what furniture you have in your layout?

I would very much appriciate it. Thank you in advance.

Yes, I suspect 2 Earthen pots (which give the fishing enhancement) could give a stronger enhancement than 1 Earthen pot. This is with no other furniture in the house to cancel effects. However, I'm not sure how to test this, so I omitted it from my theory. I think it may have to do with the "faint" energy your moogle tells you about. Anyone getting a stronger reading?

Just a cautionary note: Read the effects carefully! If I were a fisherman, I'm not sure I'd want the effect "Increases the chance of getting items when fishing" if I were going for fish!

I tried to explain this effect as "The various moghancement effects are associated with specific elements, although not on a strict one-to-one basis", but I can see this is not an adequate enough explanation. There is more than one possible effect per element and a moghancement can be associated with more than one element. I'll reword this suggestion. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but thanks for the research! I tried to buy a bookholder last night to test and none were available.

Look at this site:
http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/mt/eng/ and nav to the Furniture section. If you had this in your house before, I'd assume that you are not meeting some requirement for the scroll.

Yeah, I went back and forth on this one. I wanted a list where I could quickly look for the space "winners", but I agree this is probably confusing. I'll make the change soon.

This info is kinda helpful, but to be more helpful please list ALL the furniture in your house at the time and if you are testing a particular item, make sure it is the only one in the layout. If you get a moghancement not in the list, please go to key items, get more info and copy it verbatim into your message.

I have

Ancient Blood
Chest
Workbench
Brass flowerpot
Rusty Bucket
Noble's Bed
Stationary Set
Tea Set
Tableware Set

I think it's the combination of different elements that affects it too. 3 earth plus an ice makes lightning (just random ones, not actual that i know of).

SeomanP - any chance you could test the Noble's Bed all by itself, then post the results?

Also, add the other furniture back one piece at a time and note when the balance shifts. I suspect the bed gives the EXP loss moghancement, but can't afford one to test heh.

That's what I think to. Something along the lines of some furniture being "more powerful" then others.

I won't be able to test for awhile. At least 9 est tonight, it's 11:30 est now. Won't be on til then. Damn work.

I'll play around with it tonight and let you know.
