DRGs are like the not-quite-super-sexy chick in the bar who has a great personality and a heart of gold. You know, the one that gets overlooked because everyone is sitting there drooling over that hottie that they don't stand a chance of getting with. We sip our drinks feeling lonely and unwanted until last call when people are desparate for PT members, and sometimes go home alone... again... and cry to our linkshells about how we're ugly and nobody loves us.

You, my good sir, just made me choke on my Cheez-It crackers from that paragraph. 8D Congratulations on such an awesome post!

lol I'm glad you like it. However, I can't take all the credit. Make sure you follow the link to Jowaa's thread to see where I got the inspiration to write all that. I think it would be hilarious to see a thread like this for each class. I might just have to do that some time...

Hah, I'm a THF, welcome to my world :p

Usually I have a DRG or whoever voke it off me, then trick onto the PLD, then toward the end of the fight finish it off with an SA/TA onto the secondary tank. Usually this is right around the time SA/TA recharges so it works out perfectly.

Ask any THF if they prefer a DRG or DRK and 10 out of 10 thieves will say DRG.

I thought of it first:

Jowaa is awesomely cool, but don't belittle yourself - you wrote a similarly great post, and even included Thieves. I'm too low-level to know about Trick Attack, but Sneak Attack has given me grief all the same - often, I have to wait until someone Provokes, because hate gets tossed around because of multiple tanks, including the Monk who pulled because oh, it's just a Thief, pulling wouldn't be the optimal task for THEM.

Lol, the last bit with the DRG conversation almost sounds exactly like three DRG's in my LS constantly. Funny stuff.

hahahahaha I'm feeling inspired now. I've been pretty bored lately since I got cut off from FFXI. Being unemployed sucks and waiting over 2 months for your tax return sucks even more. >_< The good news for everyone here is that I have much more time on my hands to write this stuff. If you liked this post, look for more that I will be writing very soon, I'm on a roll!

I don't exactly feel qualified to make a win/influence BLM thread as I am only level 8 so far (no pt experience) and I rarely hear BLMs ranting on the boards so I'm -- THAT'S IT!!! Inspiration strikes at unexpected times! *runs off to create a new thread*

Hello, my name is Seoman and I'm a Dragoon.

AND PROUD OF IT!!

Great post. Funny stuff.

It's sad that most people don't realize what a DRG can bring to the table.

I'm only lvl 41, so haven't hit the post 50 "can't find a party" yet.

Won't make me change my job choice. This is the job I wanted when I first got the game.

I LOVE BEING A DRAGOON!!

BTW, I have 2 friends that tried Dragoon for the hell of it. They love the job now. It's their new main. Only know 1 person that quit being Dragoon cause of the penta-nerf. I don't consider those people true Dragoons anyways (the penta-spammers).

I totally agree with you, Seoman.

Ever since I got the game, I wanted to be an elvaan DRG. Admittedly, the penta-spam was what originally attracted me to the job, but after I actually played the job I fell in love with it from day 1 even before I got penta. That little blue wyvern is my best NPC friend in the whole game. Am I bothered by the TP nerf? Not really. I was at first but then I realized that it really didnt hurt as much as I originally thought it would. Hopefully it will actually help out DRGs by: one, weeding out the non- true DRGs who took the job just for penta... two, forcing many DRGs to explore other options (as in subjobs and party roles)... three, hopefully changing the common opinion that DRGs are not good for anything but spamming penta. I addressed 2 out of those 3 in my first post of the thread. Hopefully people will get past that stupid TP nerf that everyne seems fixed on and look at what DRGs gained in the patch. I love Spirit Link!

But back to the loving DRG thing, I loved having my Tatang since level 1, I thoroughly enjoyed jumping all over stuff since I got that ability, and I love the flexibility of the job. I am currently leveling up WHM, BLM, and soon to come DRK as possible subs. And I can't forget about splink and the ability to dismiss and resummon. THANK YOU SEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spirit Link is awesome.

I have never cared about being able to spam penta-thrust. That actually made me think about changing my job choice, because I didn't want to get invited to parties just because I can do a certain weapon skill.

I'm glad they nerfed it, to be honest.

Dragoon is probably the 1 job that is most affected by what you sub. It determines what kind of wyvern you have, offensive, defensive, mixed.

At my level, with Warrior subbed; I use mithkabobs, berserk (when I'm not tanking) and warcry (if there is a warrior in the party). My attack is 275. I do over 100 in dmg each hit I connect (non-critical).

There has been times I've done so much damage, the Warrior couldn't pull it off me. Thank god for High Jump.

Jump is also a useful tool for getting hate. Mob goes for Mage, JUMP!!, Mob comes gunning for me.

More very good points, Seoman. Jumps can either increase or decrease hate depending on which one you use and they also add extra TP gain. If only more people knew what we were truly capable of. The only thing I will miss about the TP nerf is the fact that I can't spam penta when I solo. In parties, it doesn't bother me as much, but I really miss the ability to spam penta when I'm going solo, which is actually the best time to do it imho. There truly is more to DRGs than just penta thrust.

Nice post. But count me in as one of those who left the class after the nerf. Not because I couldn't "spam penta" (if you want to spam a damaging WS then go MNK: Raging Fists > old Penta Thrust and MNKs never really depended on high TP return), but because LFP get reaaaally old.

You may think that DRGs just want some love and to get into a party, but in reality, we LOOOOOOOOOOVE to sit in Jeuno with our seek flag up for 10 hours with our thumbs up our @$$es complaining about not getting into parties. All DRGs just like to ***** about not getting parties, and while we say we despise cookie cutters and say that DRGs can kick just as much butt as any other class, we secretly hope that every PT in the world is having that above conversation so that we won't get invited. After all, if we get into a party, we lose our ******** privileges for a little while... we have to wait until the next day to wait in Jeuno for another 10 hours before we can really ***** about not getting a party because, let's face it, we got one yesterday. *note: disregard the fact that the party is the only one in 3 weeks, it is totally irrelevant!*

Square is so smart, the penta-nerf was actually a buff to our uber-leet LFP for days on end ability ^^;
