A mini guide to /search.Follow

I see a couple posts by people having problems finding groups.
I've also encountered problems like this first being a warrior,
which are in quite abundance, then as a thief which are also in
abundance at my current level. Because of this I typically take
matters into my own hands and start groups myself. I've seen some
really weird combinations pull off amazing things.
Here is a little bit on how I bring a group together..the secret being
the use of the /search command. So here is a sort of mini guide to the /sea command.
Enjoy and I hope it helps some of ya !

The search command is a very powerful and useful tool.
You can access this command by typing /search or /sea.
Personally I just type /sea because its shorter.
The tricky and powerful part of this command lies in the filtering.
There are many filters you can add to the the /sea command I'll highlight
the ones I use the most here.
Here are some of the best filters I personally use: all,lowlvl-highlvl(range),class,inv
Here is how I use them, format is [actual syntax - result description]

1: /sea all friend - this will show you any of your friends online in any zone.

2: /sea all 23-24 inv - this will show you every player that is in any zone and levels 23 or 24 AND looking for a group. inv is a very good filter.

3: /sea all 23-24 inv whm - This will show you the same exact thing as #2 but only white mages this can work with any class you happen to be looking for.

**keep in mind 23-24 is just an EXAMPLE you can put ANY level range**

4: /sea all inv - shows everyone looking for a group in any zone

As you can see this is a very powerful way to look for party members.
In the popular pick-up zones like the dunes for example a /sea all inv 17-19 will show you
all players looking for a group , from that list you can see who is in the dunes, who is in lathiene, who is in selbina, and who is in the highlands...pretty powerful!
Welp good luck and hope this helps !

Other modifiers:

-level = sorts by level descending

+level = sorts by level ascending

-rank = sorts by rank descending

+rank = sorts by rank ascending

tar, elv, gal, mit, hum = filters by race

linkshell = shows LS members

example: /sea all inv tar whm -level -rank linkshell

ive always had trouble trying to use /sea with zone or region modifiers. Id like to be able to search all of the city of Windhurst for a whm for instance, or search Bibiki Bay while in jueno from command line without resorting to using the menu. Nver had any luck figuring out the region/zone syntax. can someone post a definitive list of ways to filter based on location?

Sorry for the necroposting but I found this thread linked from another one as a miniguide so I thought people might be still be reading it and therefor appropriate to respond...

When trying to search specific zones you have to type the zone case sensative.
Example: /search "The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah" - good for seeing how many people are there before I start farming for goobbue. What's really handy if you cant be bothered remembering casing and such, or you feel you have it right is auto-translate the zone /sea "{The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah}" works just the same but without any of the chance for ******** up spelling.

2 year necropost after a 1 year necropost. Wow, just wow.

No one post in this thread for 3 years so I can bump it in 2010, thanks.

The infomation is still valid for new players. No need to make a big deal on a post that actually help new players.

There are guides about this in stickies all over the place, including the very top of this page. Who goes searching for year old threads just to bump them?

How do you /sea all 75 when it truncates the list?

It loses awesome status due to being done by a sock. I'm going to have to rate it at "Mildly Amusing."
