Fantastic story. Not much I can add that others havn't mentioned already, so <bump>.
Just bumping this story to the top! Everyone should read this. Actually, it should be REQUIRED reading in the game where you have the "don't forget your work, school, friends, family etc." statement.

wow, this story descibed me perfectly. note the past tense. i was like that until the dunes, then the onslaught of lvl lvl lvl!! ur job combo sux! go change it! sadly to say, i yell at people for bad job combos but that story really made me think. gj to whover wrote it
It's strange how that story and your responses kindof relate to the overall story or history behind FFXI's plot.

Great great story. I shows that both JP and NA miss out on the point of the game, fun and adventure. If I could only find some people in the game that wanted to play like I do, I wouldn't feel so burned out and resentful.

I play quite slow. I try to absorb things in the game as much as I can.
I like running around, doing nothing but explore.
EXP-madness isn't my playing style because it's too stressful for me.
