Hi guys. If you know japanese, then this movie isn't the same as the translation.

But I thought I would try to convey their true feelings. I took it upon myself to translate it. I put it on my school server so please don't hammer it... or if anyone else can host the file...

anyway here it is:

This story brought up so many memories for me, in real life as well as the game, it made be want to cry.
When I was about 10 I had a friend named Brad and before i met him i stayed inside all day, watched t.v/played video games. I never played with action figures or liked going outside until i met him, we walked around the city for hours, exploring, running from an imaginary rhinosaurus (truth, and it was always the same one. he would hide under leaves, rocks and the like). N=Then i moved and we fell out of touch when his phoone# changed and my mom refused to take 40 mins to drive me back to his house, EVER. That's the way alot of things n life/game are, it's not fun if there is no one around, how many times have you watched a show you hated cracking jokes about it by yourself?

When i first started this game i expected to static with my friend, but we had differant schedules and I out leveled him and he out leveled me while i was questing. Now he moved back to N.Cali and i haven't talked to him in quite a while, even in game. However i'll always remember the 1 day we Pted with some school friends and took on and almost got wiped out by a bomb in La Thiane each got 200 XP for the first time and we flipped out.

And for some reason i thought of one day day when i was in my room, i was laying by her side
I to got this game hoping to static with a friend but it was not to by her side, i looked into her eyes and all of a sudden i got this intense surge of understanding and emotion. I realized that she was my best friend and i had a moment of pure happiness along with something i don't know. and then i was gone, the understanding, the extacy and i was the same old me again. But I knew from that day that i loved her, i'm very short on the better side of human emotions but that is something i know I can hold on too when i feel low. I'd give any thing to have that feeling back.
I don't know why I thought of that but I did, I guess it really brought things into perspective for me. Very good story though, every one should take some time out and take notice of the little things that were put in the game.

I thought I wouldn't cry until I watched the video, and thought of the words I'd just read... Then I saw the picture of the taru WHM huddled by the Tele-altep crystal and it only took five milliseconds to make me cry..

You know what.. >.> I think I'm going to go buy some sneak/invis stuff and go explore again. Anyone on Ragnarok want to come? We'll have a lot of fun come sept, when the expansion is released.

Thanks for making the english version of the swf, I've watched the japanese one a few times and re-read the translation, but having them together is even more potent. ^^

This is a great story that everyone should read. It just goes to show that even after losing touch for so long and almost completely forgetting about one another, that once you reunite your feelings and your sense of adventure can once again rekindle into a brightly burning flame.

All I can say is WoW.....
/em cry.
/em Kahlanes heart goes out the the Taru White Mage.

This is one of the best posts I have seen. It makes you stop and think of why you play an MMORPG.

I don't agree the Japanese players have an advantage. Just because someone has been there before, does not prevent others from experiencing that same wonder and excitement of new places. Think about it, did it prevent you from enjoying the rainbow in La Thiene, or sunsets in the Dunes, your first ride in the airship, feel sorry for a certain goblin in Jeuno? (/em double cry)

I would like to share this story with my Linkshell. Where can I obtain permission to post this story?

I'm a beginner, I haven't even been playing for a month, and this story touched me. /cry. It made me remember All of the things that had really excited me while walking from Sand'oria to Windurst at level 5, like my first time seeing a crag, and how scared I was after seeing my first wild dhalmel. Even the basic things excited me, like the stone henge-esque ruins across the gap near the entrance to windurst from east sarutabaruta. I hope I never catch the leveling bug! I just need to remind myself of the advice of one of the people at the weaver's guild: "The path to becoming a master is a long one, so why not stop to smell the flowers?" or something close to that.

BUMP

Ok, now that thats done:

I must say, that this is the best thing that I have read in quite a long time. A lot of people might not understand why we love this game so much. This is the reason right here. The ability to temporarily escape the normal day to day grind, work, school whatever is so priceless I can't even begin to compare it.

I always thought that this game was so great in the fact that it really lets your persona and true charachter come out. In a time when so much chivalry, honor, trust, humility, and companionship is dead or so messed up, I love the fact that I can at least see how things should be.

/kneels respectfully before the OP.

After reading some of your replies I see that I am not alone in how I play the game. I am a "slow-leveler" because I love to explore the game fully. I never can be in a party with the same people for very long because, like many of you, they fly past you in levels. Heh, a lot of times I will team up with people from a long ago using my same job, but they are on their next job.

I sometimes get pushed to level faster. After reading the story and your replies... I think I will just push back and enjoy the game in my own time frame.

Thanks you all!

I must say I know how this feels. I've played since the NA release and I'm _ONLY_ a lvl 40 WHM. Sure I took WAR to 30 and unlocked a few advanced jobs first then took up WHM, but still.

I hear you. I started out as a WHM at the NA release and I'm still only a level 30 WHM. I switched classes over to RNG...still no higher than 30. ;)

My LS is quiet...we're all mostly slow-levelers. Most everyone started after I did, but we still decided that we wanted to explore and level together. So we waited for everyone to catch up. That was in January. We're still waiting.

But none of us have quit yet. One person spent his time fishing (and got his Lu Shang's), two others have been exploring gardening, my partner-in-crime has taken up cooking, and I'm crafting and exploring and questing and map hunting...I *love* map hunting.

The only person who hasn't shown up in a while is the one we're still waiting on. He seems to think he has to rush to catch up so we can play...even though we've been trying to tell him to go at his own pace.

I'm going to send him a link to this thread so that hopefully, he realizes that we want him to have fun more than we want everyone to party together.

lol I guess I should quit because I think you're taking a videogame a little too seriously. Look it's a great game and you meet a bunch of cool people, etc, but I would only get sad if I had a linkshell of people I knew in real life and they disbanded. My best friend quit, but I think life will go on lol. It's a game...it's not real. Um I don't know what to say about your story except I would try to find some new friends, or get your friends to play FFXI. There are always people who will befriend you and there's always some place where you'll belong trust me.

As of alway is the way of The World *oops* I mean its the way of Vana'Deil, the gatherings and parting of people. Friends will for 1 minuet and break the next. Fellow countrie men only converging to get stronger than their fellow men.
I always wonder where the stone monument things in the feilds are, because i always wonder what history these battle fields or marshes where like back when the writer was alive. I always wonder "What happend to that PT leader of my first pt experience, where is she now?"

AS Mimiru says "PCs are living, breathing people"

Sorry if this doesnt make sence, since i'm witing this at 11-07pm <yawn>
