Awesome guide. Windurst is certainly one of the easiest cities to get fame in quickly.

Awsome.

I don't have time to read through it all ATM, but I know it is good since you wrote it Saboruto.

It is printing off now.

Thanks for doing Windy first as that is the only city of the main 4 tht I am not level 9 fame.

Guess I will be doing some questing tonight.

That's funny, I always thought Windurst was the hardest, hence the need for a good guide like Saboruto's. A lot of the repeatable quest items don't stack or are more expensive than the quest reward.

In my opinion, San d'Oria is by far the easiest, since it has The Merchant's Bidding (rabbit hides) Fear of the Dark (bat wings), and Tiger's Teeth (tiger fangs).

Bastok is slightly harder, since A Flash in the Pan requires 15 minutes to pass between anyone turning flint stones in, and The Gourmet which requires you to zone in between items.

Bastok's saving grace is the Selbina quest Only the Best which as a bonus gives you fame in both San d'Oria and Bastok, and you don't lose much money if you buy the cabbage from vendors.

Everywhere else except Tenshodo: Only the best in Selbina.

Buy a full inv of Either la thiene cabbages or boyahda moss (Whichever you can afford) and trade it to the guy outside the weavers guild in Selbina (if you did cabbages rinse, lather, and repeat 4-6 times).

EDIT: Selbina is linked to San D'oria, Rabao, Bastok, and thus linked innevitably to Jeuno.

I just always thought Windy was easy, that's all.

Much like the Selbina Moss Quest, there's an easy way to up your Windy fame using Mandragora-Mad, assuming that Bastok isn't in last place.

Go fill up your inventory with Coronettes from the Music Shop in Bastok and turn them in @ Windy. It's basically a break even quest for you, so it's a great way to make some quick fame there.

As far as the other nations, nothing compares to Selbina moss. I turned in 16 stacks (192 pieces of moss) and never had to worry about fame again.

BTW, Hi everyone.

Welcome back Alien, where've you been?

And yes, I agree Mandragora Mad is by far the easiest out of all the Windurst repeatables, but it's still a pain because Cornettes don't stack.

I had done about 5 or 6 quests in Windurst. Then, I had a friend go to Bastok, buy coronettes, and keep sending them to me. ~150 later I had hero fame :) Didn't even take an hour and cost me 7.5k

It's of course Norg fame that will give you the biggest headache.

I chose the necklace route, mostyly because I'm Windurstian. 20 Giddeus runs @ 20 necklaces a pop. That was the worst I ever had to do for fame.

I've been trying to build up my Norg fame whenever I can, I haven't actively pursued raising it because I didn't really need it before. However, now that my Ninja is level 10, I'm getting to the point where I should probably get it done.

WOW, never thought of that.

I am so doing this tonight with a LS mate.
He is in Bastok, I get the fame, then switch. I hit bastok, and he gets the fame.

Windy has been the hardest for myself, and since my LS is mostly from Sandy, I know I can find someone needs to get this done, and has mid level fame in Windy.

Awsome idea.
(I believe Bastok is in second this week)

Looking foward to the sandy version, since I DEFENTLY need to work on that one.

Idea Saboruto, you might want to include the link to the post that shows where the fame checker is in each town and what lvl of fame corsponds to what they say, I get that question A LOT in game.

I mined in bastok for 2 days to turn in zinc ore. I think I even made a profit selling iron/darsteel ore and got smithing up a bit. I got to norg last night and recieved all the ninja quests.

It was a boring 2 days lol, but norg fame is finished for me.

After completing the 6 ninja quests is there any reason to worry about norg fame?

I want to do some more boyoda moss runs but don't want to hurt my norg fame if I am going to need it again anytime soon

A quick note...

Completing the advanced job quests gives you fame in city in which the quest is offered:

San d'Oria:
Paladin (2 prereq. quests), with various rewards you can sell.
Dragoon - a rather involved quest, involves fighting.

Bastok:
Ninja - Another involved quest that involves fighting.
Dark Knight - A very easy quest, just incredibly boring.

Windurst:
Summoner - Once you get the ruby and fire weather this isn't too hard to complete.
Ranger - By all means do this quest. It's easy with a chocobo and you get 2100 gil or some necklace that sells for 5k.

Jeuno:
Bard - Also a very very easy quest. You make like 5k doing this quest.
Beastmaster - Easy to do as well. I think theres an item reward for this too?

Norg:
Samurai - Involves 2 battles, best to do with a group, but hey it's Norg fame.

EDIT: If you're a SMN level 20 (or any job 60-65+), completing the various avatar quests also gives you fame:
Bastok - Titan, Sandy - Shiva, Mhaura (Windy) - Ramuh, Kazham (Windy) - Ifrit, Rabao (Bastok/Sandy?) - Garuda, Norg - Leviathan
I guess Fenrir gives you windy fame but by the time you can defeat him you probably don't need it.

I didn't buy my Cornettes; I synthesized them. You're losing money that way, but you're skilling Goldsmithing and Bonecraft up from 9-14 (if you want; mine's only gone from 9-11 so far). Skilling Goldsmithing up through 14 is a losing proposition anyway, since you're probably going to be dumping horrible Brass Scales on an NPC. And did you really want to make Bone Rings from 9-17? You already have Brass Ingots from getting GS to 9, and Bone Chips are about 144 apiece from the guild. You'd be using one Bone Chip and one Wind Crystal per Bone Ring anyway, just not the Brass Ingot...but then, you're skilling Goldsmithing, where you'd use the ingots instead. So if you look at it right, this saves you crystals.

(If you're feeling cheap and helpful, take your mid-level THF/MNK or vice-versa and help people hunt down Ghouls. Or help yourself by farming Test Answers, Bone Chips, and Rusty Daggers in the area of the Horotuto Ruins past the 3-mage gate. Of course, this requires leveling THF and MNK jobs, and completing Windurst 3-2, but if you've got it...)

I think I raised my fame from around 6 to around 8 by just sitting there and synthing Cornettes until I used up the ~2.5 stacks of Brass Ingots I had made. Windurst fame has never been a huge problem for me, since I've found many fun quests to do there. Bastok just doesn't seem to have nearly as many quests that jump out at you, and as for San d'Oria...well, let's just say that if you walk inside the city for the first time with a nearly full inventory, don't talk to any of the NPCs. They'll probably start you on a quest that dumps at least one and as many as 15 items on you. Still, my San d'Oria fame is higher than Bastok (6 and 4 respectively, and somehow I have hero fame in Jeuno; I guess finishing all your RSE and Gobbiebags will help with that).

Is this a crazy, roundabout, specific way to raise Windurst fame? Yes, yes it is. But I think it's also pretty good.

Bump, for the Republic of Bastok!

Bump, for the Kingdom of San d'Oria! Now all three kingdoms are in the guide and I just need to do Norg, Jeuno and "other areas" quests. Those will be the three shortest sections, but I can't be bothered to do it right now, so enjoy my mostly-complete guide. ^^

the "The seamstress" quest in San d'Oria is repeatable. She won't give you the quest, but if you trade her skins you still get gloves.

Also, Black tiger fangs can be farmed in sauromuge, in addition to battalia and jugner

EDIT: because there's no such thing as Sa d'Oria.

I found that the "Vengeful Wrath" quest was the easiest way to gain bastok fame.

Quadav helms usually sell from 800-1100 on my server, so the helm quest can be done very quickly, and with mininal loss.

Got to rank 9 fame doing this and unique quests.
