Farming In The Canyon

Inside the Tahrongi Canyon are Air Elementals. Air Elementals drop Air clusters, which when used become 12 Wind crystals. Wind here is VERY often and can last as long as 30 min.

The Subjob

There are 2 subjobs for real excelent farming here.

Theif ~ With THF sub you main goal is to stay in the middle and wait for the elemental to spawn every 6-9 min. Flee is usful for jetting to close areas and then back to main camp. TH gives about 2-3 drops every time so for mages this is ideal.

Ranger ~ With RNG sub there is the chance to move around. Wide scan is a gimmie. But it depends if there are many campers, Without TH the odds are 1-2 clusters a kill, 3 being very rare.

Spawn Points

H And I 7 are where the mages should be. This area is a inclosed space so claiming with magic shouldn't be a problem.

J-7 - J-5 is a hot point as soon as wind arives. To be sure walk on the top ledge so that its possible to see everything just to be sure.

I-8 - I-7 Is where one swaps off every other one Killed Elemental in the H-7 place.

I-9 is a spawn point but is "rare" mostly becuase people walk through and get aggro from it, so they end up dragging it back into the canyon.

H-9 is Common for one to be hanging around here. Unless a level 26+ comes by and kills it, seeing is how this is the fastest route through the canyon.

G-8 and G-7 is a rare spawn. When there are no elementals at the the other 2 entrances to the canyon, the elemental will be here.

Lastly, remeber to set up a mule in sandy. Wind clusters are hot their becuase of Wood work ^^

..not to be mean or anything.. and thanks for the info but..

You most likely just killed any farming in Tahrongi Canyon. ^^;

I mean.. lots of people are going to see this and go try it.. killing any chance of getting enough clusters to make farming it worth it.. since it will be overcamped..

However.. again, thank you for the info ^^;

I may have to look into this.. (yes, this makes me a hypocrite doesn't it? o.O)

new rule, if you find a good farming spot dont post it, it just makes it a bad farming spot... <(-.-)>

3rd Sub: BST

If your lvl 30 anything, then even a lvl 1 BST sub is enough to grab a Dhamel pet. These will do as almost as much dmg as a lvl 30 THF's dagger strikes. The Akabas aren't too shabby either.

Send the Dhamel after an easy mob, while you go kill something else.

Other mobs of interest.

Pygomies: They drop saru cotton. You can also steal saru cotton, so if you're THF, steal from them, alot. The mandies at Buru Pennisula drop more often for a lvl 30+ though.

If you are farming cotton from drops though, keep the 2-leaf, 4-leaf, and sulfur they drop. Since these are ex drops, you can only have one. And they drop far more often than cotton. If you keep them, you won't have to bother to keep throwing them away.

Once you get back to Windy, either trade those ex drops in for quests, or just stick them in your mog house and forget about them (recommened if you are going to farm for more cotton).

Saplings: Seeds

Crawlers: Not many of them, but they drop silk. But they don't drop calculus' or smooth stones either. Again, the ones at Buru drop more often for lvl 30+

Dhamels: Hides and bones. They eat up the inventory, but they sell fairly well. Again... Buru, 30+

Goblins everywhere. Gobbie gear, wild onions, coins. Umm... Buru... 30+

Yags everywhere. Necklaces, coins.

Ghosts: They spawn by the dino bones areas (there are 4) from 20:00~04:00, respawning in 1~2 game hours. They drop cotton cloth... very finicky drop.

Bones: Bone chips

Excavation: Since you're there, bring some pickaxes. 4 area in the zone spawn mining points (same areas spawn ghosts). You'll sometimes get little worms (loss) or bat fangs / bone chips (slight loss). Other times you'll get Giant Femurs / Chicken Bones / Scorpian parts (500~800 profit). The 'big' item is the Turtle Shell. Very Rare. But turtle shells will sell at AH for 2000, and very slowly at that. They sell straight to vendor for 1300, so I usually do that.

Excavation isn't really a 'main' form of income. It's just a nice addition since you're already there.

Warning: It's a newbie leveling zone, as well as a popular BST spot. Stay away from the little central area near the Buru zone, as this is a popular leveling camp. Just be polite. This isn't the highlands, plenty of Dhamels around.

And if you see a pet, assume it's a leveling BST, and go to a different square. If you kill all the mobs around a BST in mid-fight, you probably signed his death warrant.

Pre-emptive Karma Sniper Dodge:

Buru is almost exactly like Tahrongi. But in Buru, you should be around lvl 30 to be safe, lvl 35 to pwn everything... but is far more profitable.

The mobs drop more often (Same mobs, different level), and you can Log instead of Excavate.

You got Leeches instead of Saplings for Fiend / Beast Blood, and the all powerful Carby's Ruby. You also got Crabs for Crab Meat / Crab Shells. Bombs for Bomb Ash and Bomb arms. 2 NM's as opposed to Tahrongi's one. Both pushovers, both drops worth alittle more than Tahrongi's (but still worth crap).

Elementals: Thunder, Wind, Water. Compared to Tahrongi's Wind or Earth. Similar Elemental levels (i.e., you beat Tahrongi, you should be good for Buru).

Logging at Buru is far more profitable than Excavating... but requires more money up front (550 / hatchet at Mhura. 180 / Pickaxe at Windy) Then again, hatchets don't break as often as pickaxes.

So, Tahrongi is really only good for levels 15~30. After 30, far better areas open up.

Zoidburg + Neguni:

Excellent posts. I've been farming Buburimu for weeks and months and have found it quite a rewarding experiance. I can usually find the same farmers there over and over again as well. Since the land is so big and deserted of anyone else, there is no squabbling and fighting over a certain mob, except maybe the cluster of crawlers that play on the cliff in the northeast corner.

Dhalmels are very profitable if you can handle them in a timely manner. Giant Femurs sell quite well, also if you have a high enough leathercraft, thoes non-stackable Dhalmel hides turn into Dhalmel leather.

I haven't tried out logging yet but after scanning so many harvesting points, I will not return there without some tools for now on.
