Maybe it is because Thieve's are a little protective of their abilities and jobs. I'll rate you down too. A solid 50 levels? Lol. After 50 levels, you are just starting to understand all the advanced abilities of every job that you party with. After 50 levels it is usually not the Thief's fault that SATA doesn't work unless they are a seriously underperforming Thief. Read my post on the Thief forum about "Perfect SATA execution".
Ask any Thief.
Usually it is because the Tank twitches right before SATA is about to go off and Trick Attack misses, therefore not planting hate onto the Tank.
Or I've seen this quite a bit too, mages feel the need to spam all these spells the second the mob is brought back into the camp.
Or it takes a couple MINUTES for the first voker just to hit a simple provoke macro button.
Any of these reasons, none of which are the fault of the Thief, lead to nonexistent SATA's.
What is really sad is after 50 or even more levels, that Thief's have to explain to other jobs "Please stand right behind the mob and don't move!" "Please voke when I come back into camp.", etc. ad nauseum, infinitus

how about this (very easy) one;

voice your own opinion.
just post how you feel/think about a certain subject even if you dont agree with the others on this board and see your rating drop.
its proven many times that 95% of the ratings are not based on the post but on if that person agree or doesnt agree with you.
when i just got on this forum i mainly posted neutral replies or agrees with the rest and my rating was getting close to 4. and now for some time that number doesnt have so much value for me anymore and i post replies how i think/feel about certain subjects and what ya know last time i checked my rating was close to 3.
you do the math

Another way to get rated down is to say there's a new avatar..and make the post serious, put something like quest summary ,and don't put stuff that don't sound serious like "Tuning Fork of Hotness lolz!!". Making up stuff like new items, spells (such as meteor and ultima), abilities, areas, jobs, and races can get people pissed off. Oh, and making up expansions or giving it wrong dates. Maybe spoilers without marking them would get people angry (I know it would make angry <.<).

And the #1 surefire way of being rated down:

Have an opinion that differs from the rest, and POST it :P

God forbid the guy has an opinion about thieves. The rating system on this site is god awful.

I don't invite them either. Most of them are idiots and don't gear themselves as a regular melee would, instead opting for a DEX load out 100% of the time. This makes them do crap for damage and I'd rather have someone that can pull their weight in DOT. A good thief past 50 is a rare, but great, sight.

And lets not forget the fact that almost all of them always sub NIN when WAR sub blows /NIN's damage dealing capabilities out of the water a good chunk of the time, and NIN sub is really only necessary for pulling raptors and hte like.

One of the best DDs I've ever partied with was a THF/WAR in Den of Rancor. The rest of the thieves I've partied with have been crap.

Wow. Someone said that about BST.....He will be the first one crying when they gang MPK him for that rude comment...

"BST: Blacklist all of these, and let them go back to playing offline RPG's"

You are an ***. Wow..Just wow.

I find the fastest, easiet way to get rated down is even more simple than the OP listed. Pick any forum and do EITHER of the following (both might get you into negative numbers).

1- Tell the truth
2- Post a FACT

That should pretty much get you nuked into oblivion.

The 100% Proven Best Way To Get Rated Low On Alla Main Board: Actually know what you're talking about and present it in a direct manner.

Yes, my karma got killed when I posted in the DRK forums that a Mithra with STR gear can have equal damage per strike and have better accuracy than an Elvaan, and I even provided my profile to back it up.

My karma also got killed when I showed parses of the following:

Mithra DRK outdamaging Elvaan RNG (Pre-nerf)
Mithra DRK outdamaging Elvaan DRK
Mithra DRK outdamaging Galka DRK
Mithra DRK outdamaging Taru BLM

People hate when you tell the truth, yet someone who cries exploit at the engage/disengage trick, to which a GM has said 'Nah, its okay for now as long as not everyone does it' still hasn't been sub-defaulted. Posts whining about the maintenance and posts whining about all the whining carry on, some are even 3.00+

Might also mention that that post in the BST forum can't be rated below 1.51 for some weird reason.

If we could see who was rating us down the karma system would be much better and safer.

6. goto MNK forum and say MNKs can't do DMG for jack

Actually, over in the MNK forum, we're a fairly civil bunch, and people have often complimented us on our conspicuous lack of flames and rate-downs that are more commonly de rigeur in other job forums (the RDM forum is mentioned a lot, by such visitors).

We're also used to trolls, and most of them fail to get any kind of rise out of us by making such ignorant comments as "MNKs can't deal damage".

MNK Forum: Say that you want to be a MNK because you don't have to buy gear.

Now that, on the other hand, is a much better way to get flamed and rated down in the MNK forums. XD

You know what? You're absolutely right. The rating system on this site IS god awful when it allows an idiot like yourself to get rated up to Sage -- especially for the following comment:

In case you didn't know, Dex is the main modifier on the 3 Weaponskills that Thieves use in parties. Guess ya didn't know that huh? Maybe the reason they are doing crap for damage is because Rdm's like you can't debuff for crap. It sucks when as a Thief you can debuff the mob better than a Rdm can -- or at least do it on time to matter.

..."only necessary for pulling raptors and [th]e like". I dare you to go post that opinion on the Thief forum. Guess you never heard of Dual Wield II? Or stat boosting daggers with low delay in the offhand? Or any of the other Ninjutsu spells? Maybe there is a reason all those Thieves are subbing Nin. Maybe your brain can't comprehend it.

Then you've been in crap parties. Maybe it's because you're a crappy Red Mage.

Fastest way to get negative rate downs? Learn to break the swear filter and use it every second or third word. Then let every word you type be either racist/sexist or anything of the type, even the subject. Make sure to let the admins know you have pwned them royally and that as hard as they try, they will never be able to boot you or the thread out.

    I'm sure that will work.

Is the rating system being aweful a suprise to anyone. I mean really. You kiss enough ***, you'll be guru before you hit 100 posts.

Can't everyone just get along for once. And yes, I never would step foot in RDM forums. {Refresh} {Yes, Please}. That's all I have to say to them. They would rate anyone down that isn't a bunch of elitists kissing each other's asses.

Dare I say, Rdm shouldn't melee unless they can actually mutli-task? ^.~

I've noticed a lot of jobs have their specific things that are hot button issues for them. Not so much insulting things, but just frequent topics get brought up which the forum members will jump down your throat for.

-In the WAR forum, go there and say that you're not going to level axe or great axe, because you're going PLD, and you want to skill up sword and shield first.

-In the RNG forum, tell them that you really don't like WAR or NIN, so you're going to just stick with /THF as your subjob. Or tell them that you don't see a need to cap both archery and marksmanship.

-Go to the BST forum and mention the Brady Guide
