I have released the first version of Final Fantasy XI Timer for Palm at http://doconnor.homeip.net/ffxi/ Right now all it does it display the current Earth time and the Vana'dial weekday, date and time. It also display the current Universal Time which is useful for make sure the Time Zone is set correctly on your Palm. The web page also has tips on other ways you can use your Palm to help you with Final Fantasy XI.

I expect to add more features.

The timer has been updated to show the next 5 Vana'diel days or the next 5 days of the selected day of the week. Performance and design have also been improved.

This is an extremely helpful tool, I cannot wait until you add more features. Thanks

Edit: The only problem I see so far is that the clock seems to be 1 RL hour wrong when computing vanadiel date, time, etc. If I adjust the clock on my palm it corrects the vanadiel time, and the timer ends up being very close. I am in the central time zone, perhaps the timer only adjusts for the time that the programmer is in. It's a minor inconvenience, it isn't hard to manually adjust one hour.

It is designed to use your Palm's Time Zone settings to calculate the correct time. For my Palm you can set the time zone by going into Preferences, Date & Time and then select you location. You will probably have to select "Edit List..." from the bottom of the location list.

Well, my time zone is set correctly. Either the timer is wrong, or it doesn't account for the fact that I'm on CST with no Daylight Savings Time.(Stupid backwards state can't catch up to the rest of the country) Either way it's not really a big deal, love the timer. :)

Edit: Don't know if it makes a difference, but I am using Sony Clie running Palm OS 4.1

Dang, there goes my excuse for learning Java on my Palm. Seems to work ok I _think_. The time on my Tungsten matches the time on Mithra Pride's clock within the degree of accuracy my Palm's clock is set.

You might want to put in a link to the freewarepalm software that syncs your palm clock to your PC clock - I don't remember the name (haven't needed the accuracy before, y'know? If an alarm goes off 30 seconds fast or slow, no big deal.), but I know there's one out there.

Any chance of a peek at the source? I still sorta remember Pascal, it could be fun to tinker with. :)

Oooh... Forwarding this link over to my fiance. I'm sure he and his Pocket PC will love this! Thanks! Smiley: grin

Edit: Hmmm. Oopsie. I didn't know Palm programs won't work on the Pocket PC... Oh well. Keep up the good work anyway!

Another update for Final Fantasy XI Timer for Palm.

Added the ability to view upcoming days by moon phase and added the Carpenters' Landing barge to the ship schedule.

I also have reduced the requirements to Palm OS 3.0, but I haven't had a chance to test it yet, so there might be functions that require Palm OS 3.5 in there that I forgot about.

I tried to set up an volume control for the Countdown Timer, so you don't have to turn on annoying system sounds to use it, but I couldn't get it to work.
