Super-duper guide.

Here's the best map of Phomiuna Aqueducts currently online:

http://www.benri.gotohp.com/MAP-Phomiuna.htm

It's in Japanese, so I'll translate what I can.

The Entrance is on the bottom map, where you see the little red Kanji characters (for some stupid reason Allakhazam's form isn't letting me type in japanese. -_-;).

Green bars are ladders.

Red bars are doors that require keys or theives tools to open.

Blue bars are doors that can only be opened by pulling on levers hidden inside the room.

The little legend in the lower-right is an explanation of which lamps to light to propery open the door on the first map, and simply repeats what is already in your guide.

Minor additions made to the guide -- expect the Riverne guide to follow shortly. ^^

I hope you don't mind but I have a sticky I maintain in the Bismarck forum and I have linked to each of your guides. Excellent job, you really have a knack for this. I especially like your writing style. Keep up the great work.

Now that I've moved up to chapter 2 (thanks entirely to first guide) I find myself with a question or two which I can't find the answer to:

What are the requirements for doing supply quest to tavnazia region?

I saw that it was added in to the previous update, but the little runt in windurst won't give me that region as an option, even though I've now got access. I tried asking as my 37 whm and 58 mnk. My fame in all areas (except tav, of course) is hero ranking. I'm rank 7 in missions. WTF does it take to be able to supply warp there? ;_;

If anyone knows, please post response so I don't just sit in my chair rocking back and forth staring at the signet caster.

Tavnazia supply quest: get to chapter *four*.

In other words, get 2-3 (this), 2-5 (Riverne A01 - Monarch Linn BC), and 3-5 (Pso'Xja - Shrouded Maw BC) done. Along with a number of smaller stumbling blocks, most of which are just running around seeing cutscenes. Though there is an uncapped fight against an antlion and an uncapped fight against a malboro during 3-3, and you have to get to the top of that bloody Parradamo Tor in Attohwa.

So ... don't hold your breath. If it makes you feel any better, you also get delivery NPCs, and access to the Jeuno AH in Tavnazia when chapter 4 rolls around. And the NPC item sellers have a few more things in stock, but nothing very interesting (or if it's moderately interesting, they charge literally millions).

I believe you must be on chapter 4 to get the outpost warp mission.

I hung out in one of the libraries for a while and saw two different ???s spawn. Neither of them had the map though. Do I just need to keep waiting for them to respawn and hope that they have a map or do I need to be brave and try to find a different section of the library? I'd rather just stay where I am because the only exit to the room is a skinny tunnle guarded by a minotaur type monster.

Great guide but one bit troubles me thuogh:
http://www58.tok2.com/home/lonelyff/d_images/phomiuna.jpg

if you look at the the third map there, the way I see it is the black outline is blocked by the "???" and once you open it it leads either to
a)the other side of the c map, at <F-9>
b) it leads to the map on the right starting at <J-7>

which of these 2 are correct? I'd hate to think i'm somewhere when i'm somewhere else and end up taking on of the "dreaded exits" that leads all the way back to the start.

thank you~

You don't want to head east/west. The passage you're looking for is that north/south passage.

1)The "Suck-in" method does work, BUT there is a hallway where a Stegotaur roams and there is NO WAY to get by it w/o getting aggro. So what you can do is send a person w/ reraise to get aggro and have the other person run by. That's what we did last night.

It is possible to get by the stegotaur. I made it to the minotaur solo without dying. You have to wait until it reaches the corner and is also facing it, then run behind him.

I'm bumping this to ask just one question: I'm on 4-2 but helped some people get to the library to finish up 2-3. I didn't (don't) have a map, so after they finished, I told them I was gonna stick around the library to get one. Now, I accidently trapped myself in the F-9 library, my way out blocked by Stegos. I was able to get my fomor hate down so I'm walking among them in the room freely, waiting for the ??? to pop.

Well some kind of ??? has popped repeatedly. Whenever I click on it it says I find nothing out of the ordinary.

So...what's up with that?

It can't be the X Marks The Spot ??? because I have the quest am at that point where it would say something or have a cutscene or something. It's not the ??? that opens the secret door to the oil lamp hallway because I went through that to get to this room (and I can't get back in that hallway). So is it the right ??? but I'm too far along to get the map now? That doesn't seem right? Do I keep waiting for a different ??? Help!

Oh, also the ??? is spawning and despawning randomly (even after I click it, it stays there- then I'll run around for awhile and come back and it won't be there). Do I get the map upon zoning out or something? I'm dying here.

Good guide: A few things to add

#1: Erase is essential, especially if you plan on being in here for a while on subligar hunts. Aegis Schism is vicious, and lasts forever, as does the Drown effect. Aegis Schism seems to have more effect and longer duration if you have high Fomor Hate.

#2: Taurus are dumb. Their sight-cone is very narrow, so even though they are true sight, it's remarkably easy to get past them.

#3: Remember that Fomor BSTs pets link with the normal bats in here.

#4: Because of Aegis schism and the likelyhood of multiple Fomor fights, it's worth having PT members like MNK/WAR, WAR/XXX & SAM/WAR who can switch some gear and take on an enemy as a semi-tank role.

#5: Having multiple people with /WHM helps a great deal. Taurus poison is vicious (10+ a tick), and Poisona is available to /WHM. More importantly, anyone /WHM can take over healing temporarily while your WHM is casting Erase.

I have the exact same problem. I saw a ??? so I ran into the room to grab it. I'm now "trapped" in the room, though I can Warp out whenever I like. The fomor aren't going to aggro me, but I would love to get the map. Clicking on the ??? tells me I find nothing out of the ordinary.

This is the room connected to the oil lamp hallway. Not the room that everyone passes thru to finish 2-3, but rather the room at the other end of the oil lamp hallway.

OKay I have a kind-of related question. I finished the minotaur battle, and am still without a map. Does anyone know the BEST places to camp for the following subligar?

BST/BRD
MNK
THF
DRK
?

I went with a group, but I have no idea where we went or how to get there again. o_O; We went to two rooms- one had fomor bst, nin, and thf, and the other had the tres duendes nm.

I'm planning on running an ls group out to subligar farm, but I'd like to know generally where I need to go. I have a printed out copy of the map from http://www58.tok2.com/home/lonelyff/d_images/phomiuna.jpg

Thanks in advance. ('_^v)

With respect to the map:

The ??? can pop in any of the four library rooms. As I said above, two are east, and two are west. You do the west side when you go up for the missions (one room is northwest, one is southwest).

The other two rooms require you to be down the other side of the Aqueducts. It turns out I was totally wrong. You don't require any particular mission or quest to go over there, nor do you need to advance further in CoP. The ladder you can't climb is unrelated to the eastern library rooms - I just didn't know where the hell I was going.

Note that the eastern library rooms will have a ??? related to a quest you can get later from Despachiare; clicking it will do nothing. Other ???s are switches to open doors.

The only ??? that I have confirmed as a map-point is that one in the NW room on the jars to the left of the door that you enter through. I've helped two other shellmates get their map in that fashion, but that point is not always up.

This looks great =D I followed your Promyvion guide (Coupled with some maps from ffxi-atlas.com) and won with very little problems =) I've got to say, my favorite part of these is the monster notes. Usually, if I can find a map, and know where I'm trying to get to, I don't need directions. I don't really need gear recommendations, or anything of the sort. But knowing what all these mobs aggro to, and what sort of attacks they have... It's awesome =D

I can't wait for your Riverne guide, I hope it's as good as all it's predecessors! (SP >.>)

Excellent guide Wingchild!

One thing to add - there's a Fomor NM named Eba that spawns in the room around D/E-11/12. While out hunting for subligars, she wiped our party of 12. We got her down to about 1/6 hp and might have won if people had burned their 2 hour abilities.

Here's the info from somepage:
http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/mobdb/3542

If you see her, beware - that 400+ AoE will mess you up! x.x

Riverne Guide? Pretty please? Your guide have got me safely through the Promyvions and Phomiuna Aquaducts, and it would be great to have a Riverne guide as good as those to aid me.

I don't think Wing would mind me linking this, it is on the Carbuncle forum, it may be on the main forum to but I don't know where.
