hmmm, interesting, so it's more for RNG, BLM, BST and SMN then? cool, maybe i can try with my SMN ^^

might want to add in what will agro if u're hunting them in those spots thou. Kuftal Tunnel for example will have crabs and ghosts plus elementals from time to time.

nice guide, i didn't think about warms for a while, i can really do that in Kuftal Tunnel for my SMN (if the weather isn't too bad ^^;)

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!! Party based. If you want to do it solo, add about 5-10 levels to the ranges after level 10 or so.

so... in other words, good for arrow/mana burn PTs ^^; SMN PT with a BRD should be good too (not that these kinds will have problem with other monsters anyway orz).

Why not regular parties? Besides stonega, bind and unblockable silence, there isn't much to worry about besides aggro.

Do you have any idea of pop locations/camp sites laviont? Or is this guide just a theoretical look at Worms and Onions that are of certain levels?

I think the Mandy's in Peurogoneu (sp?) Island in Bibiki Bay has mandragoras that continue off level wise where the Yhoatar Mandragoras are.

/sigh

I actually saw this the first time you posted.... I just decided to write something today. I'm terribly interested in breaking the mold and trying new things wherever and whenever possible. Where to campa nd what to kill is a big part of that. Ah well, it's a good starting point right?

/rate good for a solid. helpful compliation, if it had some solid camping locations or even just tips it would definitely garner an excellent.

PS- Ambrose Odin might consider linking your two "rough compliations of mobs and levels" for use in his alt leveling areas guide. Maybe you should PM the guy.

I don't know how well the Mourioches in the tree would be. There's large mobs of them and they link. Probably instant death to any party that tries them.

Just a warning to anyone planning on trying them.

(Originally posted on Vnboards in '04. Not mine. Enjoy.)

i am still reeling from the amazement over the ease of attaining experience as a ranger in these, sometimes, challenging levels. so i just wanted to throw this out there so that people that do plan on playing ranger or are doing so consider going this route instead of the tedious party play. i have never had this much fun gaining exp before and i love soloing as a ninja.

20-24 i leveled in korrolka tunnel on worms. this would have been made much easier had i had a couple stacks of slee pbolts for the emergency situation, cause i did get whacked about 3-5 times. (now i am lvling marksmanship to use guns with my ninja and am not using bow at all, marksmanship has these great status effect bolts.... they rock). highpoint of my lvling in korrolka was getting a chain 5 for upwards of 1100 experience points in approximately 5 minutes.

at 24 i got utsusemi and my life was made significantly easier as then the only thing i needed to be concerned about is stoneaga. i went to qufim then got whacked cause i was careless a couple times but made it to 25 last night.... i came prepared with all the weaponry. and my god i am still speechless over the havoc i was able to cause. it is remarkable. first i have 4 bolt equipping macros. 1 for acid bolts to lower defense. 1 for blood bolts to DRAIN HP (these are the key). 1 for venom bolts for high dmg and finally 1 for sleep bolts in case i get an add and have to sleep it or any other emergency.

after i hit 25 i gained 4100 out of 5300 exp in slightly over 40 minutes, and that was only due to the lack of worms as i wiped them all out. i got 2 chain 5s about 3-4 chain 4s and numerous chain 3s in the process.

i start fight with acid bolts to lower defense then macro switch to venom if i get whacked with spell i switch to blood bolts and recover all my hitpoints. rinse and repeat. no need to struggle in parties, no need to worry about tanks protecting you, etc etc. I highly highly highly recommend this. now obviously many people know this and love this dearly, this is for people that may not (:.

the other thing i want to stress is that warriors and darks and rngs carry some sleep bolts and drain bolts on them. as these things seem to be invaluable in emergency situations. sleep bolt is guaranteed to neutralize a mobs attack as it is guaranteed to put it to sleep for a tiny amount of time, and sleep cancels out an attack. thats what i did as a worm was about to stoneaga me and i had 40 hp. i equipped my sleep bolts and whacked the sucker dead while it slept. i could see this working great for gobbie bombs as well.

this soloing could easily get a minimum of 5k exp per hour as long as you are findign enough things to kill. i plan on lvling to 28 in qufim and then will move over to khazam and solo mandragoras to 30.
i cannot recommend this highly enough it is such a blast and such a breeze. lvling has never been this easy. it is almost a shame i do not intend to ever use ranger for anything but a sub......

The Abyss worms in Shak spawn between the top floor (right part of map) and the lower floor area where the tougher wights/wendigos and scorpions are. There is an area there where you dont have goblins, jellys or undead running around, just worms.. but usually alot of worms packed in there. Its probably doable, but you would have to be careful at it.

As for the worm lveling sequence.. here you go, with what level the mob is (not what level you should be to fight them). Sorry if I missed any, I compiled this list a little while back by using the book guide and the online monster db. This list seems to work well for Rangers and BLM who solo, however at times you will find a level differential where you cant find decent challenge, even match or tough worms. At that point, duos work great. A RNG + WHM duo, or RNG + BLM duo can usually take VT worms down pretty nicely. It seems the higher level you go, the tougher it gets however for Rangers to solo them. The higher level worms need to really be silenced or they can tear you up if you arent careful. Hope this helps....

at lower levels, i agree, if we are talking korrigan, those things will rip you a new one.

i can let an even match korrigan go at with a Tough elder goobue in boyhada tree and the mandy will nearly go toe to toe with it. If i melee with an even match korrigan against a VT goobue it's nearly enough to finish it off. Those goobue hit hard too.

constant counters and double/triple attack, not to mention aoe sleep.

Believe me, it really really hurts when i mischarm on one of these.
