Easiest job vs. Maat?Follow

Tonight I just lost for the 3rd time against Maat as a level 70 BRD. After days of skilling up my sword, after purchasing all kinds of stupid gear that I'll never use again, after bothering my friend to let me borrow his scorpion harness, and after begging multiple coffer key parties to let me join and lot on their testimonies, I still lost miserably. This is stupidly difficult for a Tarutaru Bard, and I'm done wasting time, effort, and money on it.

But this isn't a rant, this is a question. Are there any jobs that can get to 66 and just downright destroy Maat? My guess would be that SMN, MNK, NIN, PLD, and possibly SAM are pretty easy, but I honestly have no idea. And yes, I am willing to take a completely new job all the way to the upper 60's just to get past this. Thanks in advance.

well, THF is totally the easyest. steal and you either win or not, if not, use a bind bold, wait for steal to come back, repeat.

WHM is pretty easy, heh. Just act as a punching bag and stay alive for 5000-odd damage 9_9 Too bad no one wants to help you get another testimony if you ***** up (like me, when I forgot to use any of the 15 Hi-Potions I'd been carrying...)

But... as a 75Brd? '-'; typo, I think...

Brd genkai is hard, know someone who took 8 times to beat it (and dragged me to Oz for every new testimony he needed -_-;)

I haven't -actually- tried it, so I may just be talking out my ***, but from what I've read, the WHM Maat fight seems the easiest, unless something goes horribly wrong...

Basically, all I'll have to do is cure myself and not die. I plan on going in at lvl 69 @100 and using a Page of the Dragon Chronicles when HP and MP are low, as well as other assorted things like Yagudo Drinks, etc...

Doesn't seem too terribly difficult (Famous last words).

Has anyone seen WAR? They just have to hit him 3 times, 2 of which are weapon skills..

As hard-headed as I am, I refused to beat Maat any other way as a THF besides stealing. As a result, I think I have the worst Maat record to date at 1/29.

Point, monk is far from the easiet, there are lots of differeing stratergies out there ranging from the traditional,
Beat him with WS's, Countering, and a new one which is doing alot of DOT and not going for the huge mutiple WS's.

I plan to try a mixture of the traditional and countering stratergies when I hit 66, as ive had a testimony for many lvls now.
Ive heard maat at 66 for most jobs is difficult but I just wana try ASAP, + I just got my Counter earring JSE from the solo ENM which is like a mini Maat fight^^

So if I use crosscounters, counter earring, kampfer rings, Avenger earrings, Akido etc..
my counter+ will be around +18 when in yellow HP, and I may even risk putting in counterstance 'if' Maat pops hundred fists before im ready.

But whm seems the easiest, I just looked at the brd startergy as ive always wondered what they would have to do, seems a little tasking...

Goodluck

Oops, I meant 70 BRD, not 75, heh. Thanks for pointing that out.

I knew that WHM was all about curing yourself rather than actually fighting Maat, but I wasn't sure how tough that was. THF sounds like the easiest, judging from what Blaines said, but since my WHM is already 37 and I've got Erase, I might as well go with that one. Thanks for the input, everyone.

EDIT -- Oh, one question: does Regen count towards the healing counter in the WHM Maat fight?

WHM is by far the easiest, that is what I beat him as. And from talking to all my LS mates I am pretty confident in that fact. All we have to do is sit there and take hits left and right. I took 3886 damage before Maat gave up.

I used an earth staff, ate tank food, used Bat earrings and blinding potions (+30 Evasion) and just cure III'd myself the whole time. Didnt have to use Benediction or Divine seal and his Dragon kick only did 190 Damage or so. It helps that I am a Galka I am sure. lol

Also, I would recommend to anyone that is at that level to do it before you actually hit 70. His level mirrors yours and at level 70 Maat will use Asuran Fists. I did it at 66-67, I cant remember which atm, and had no problems with him. Hit 70 and he WILL use that deadly WS. Avoid it if you can.

As far as combat, I think warrior and rangers have easiest. Having seen videos, this how each went:

Ranger - Sidewinder, Barrage, Normal ranged attack, Eagle Eye Shot, win.

Warrior - ALL abilities (Mighty Strikes included) --> Raging Rush --> Raging Rush = Fragmentation for the win.

BLM is easy (not that I can compare) - no supplies are needed (though you may take Blink Band for insurance), quick fight - Maat gives up after 3 nukes.

Saw this after I had posted my response and thought I should respond. From all I have seen and read there is no healing counter involved in defeating Maat. This can be seen by looking at all the different damage amounts people have taken. Everything from my 3886, the smallest number I have seen, to close to 6000 damage taken/healed.

One of the current thoughts within the WHM community is that is is an actual 5 minute timer and nothing more. A couple of people mentioned this on the WHM forums and when I went in to fight him I set a stop watch.

You start the counter only when you pull Maat with Paralyze or slow or blind, whatever you are using. I recorded my fight using fraps and checked on the fight start > Maat giving up time, and it is 5 minutes on the dot.So, that is the current belief that I have about the WHM Maat fight. Nothing anyone else has said has swayed me so far.

Not discounting you or anything, but can anyone confirm that WHM Maat fight is "5 mins long" and has nothing to do with "xxx damage taken"?

If that's the case, Stoneskin + Blink are your friend, no?

Sure not discounting or anything.............. =P

I have the video of the fight. Fight started at 2:39 into the recording and Maat gave up at 7:39 exactly. Want the video? Let me know and I will e-mail it to you. Also check out the Genkai V for White Mage -- Maat made easy thread. There was alot of discussion there and people giving the same 5 minute theory.

I wasn't being rude or anything... it's just that this is Allakhazam; the site where you can't say "Crawlers are yellow." Without someone rating you down and saying "You n00b! they're goldenrod! Level to 75 and then come back you moron."

EDIT: Forgot to say thanks for the link; I'm reading through it now. ^^

I just beat him yesterday on my first try:

Buffed (2hr, food, blink band, etc), engage,
Critical, Raging Rush, Icarus wing, paniced, Raging Rush, missed the SC, critical, Maat dead. Pretty easy!

From the videos I have seen BLM is the easiest. That one guy does it in like 30 seconds without taking any damage. He casts like 2 spells and a stun!

As far as the testimony, I think I have it really easy on this one as WHM. There are camps in Gustav tunnel that you fight Goblin Alchemists non-stop. All my parties there you get like 5+ WHM tests in a exp session. I would just camp at somebody elses camp and offer free backup cures and support to get a test. Would probably have one in 30 mins.

I have seen BLM and RNG videos of maat beaten in 3-4 shots/magic spells.

So I'd say RNG and BLM.

I've heard SMN is really easy, as well... Just run in with... Shiva I think? 2 hour, use their ability. Maat doesn't use is summons, or so I've heard.

I wouldn't know, though. ^_^ I'm kinda looking forward to fighting him, however...

Run in, Stoneskin, Blink, Bind, Aero3, Aero3, Aero3, Sleep, Convert, Divine Seal, Cure IV, Chainspell, Aero3, Aero3, Aero3, should he last that long. =D

However, I seriously doubt MNK is all that easy, seeing as no matter what, he subs MNK. If you do go in as MNK, however, I've heard when you go to do Hundred Fists, take off your weapon because you have very little delay.

Actually i think the only level you can beat Maat without him having access to Asuran Fists, is level 66. If you ever hit 67, he will be able to use it.

That is why Maat is easiest at level 66 for a lot of jobs (WHM especially).

I thought BRD Maat was really easy. @.@ I went at level 69 with 196 sword and 195 evasion. Borrowed my boyfriend's Carapace helm and breastplate, picked up a set of phalanx rings (which I still use in farming and in ballista, as well as solo ENM60), a blink band (use for ENM60 as well), opo necklace, and a spike necklace (use in farming/skill-ups). Ate a taco, brought 15 Hi-Pots (only used 9), 1 X-Pot (didn't use it), a persiko au lait and a pineapple juice; also had an icarus wing. Buffed up, 2hred, sang Paeon IV and Minuet IV and went to town. after Elegy/Requiem'ing him, I used my 100% TP from the opo necklace with a Spirits Within. Then just melee'd the crap out of him. Got Spirits Within off twice more (once thanks to the icarus wing) and after 7 min 21 sec, he gave up. I never dropped below half health, and barely broke a sweat.

Try doing the ENM in Mine Shaft, Pulling the Strings. I found it to be good practice for Maat in getting my basic strategy down. Also, when you win you get 2k exp, as well as the possibility to get a JSE ring. For BRD its the Getsul Ring, which gives enchantment:+20%HP, which for a taru is a HUGE help.

Have to say, I have tons of respect for all monks past 70. I watched my boyfriend try to take Maat last weekend. That is one tough battle.

Too bad I lost to him as a 66whm. I followed all the guides to a "t", used all the best armor and still lost even after having to use DS and bene.
