In the years to come, where will FFXI stand?Follow

Will SE bring out a new MMORPG, or can FFXI just keep going? Will there become a time when they will have to merge all the populations into one world? Me personally I think this game could go on forever, but will it?
I considered myself a "true gamer" before ffxi, which meant I enjoyed all the best games from every platform, but for the last 20mos ffxi has made me have to give up that claim. I am sure all of the great games for the 360 , PS3, and all the other platforms will get there quality time, but I don't see me leaving ffxi.

I won't expect upcoming MMO to pull me away from FFXI. I had so much hype for SWG and WoW. And ended up quitting those games so quick... I will try out D&D online and middle earth online and vanguard for sure. But I won't give it in to the hype anymore. Which game suites me best, i'll play that one.

These days I find myself playing less and less console games. I still buy the newer ones I like, really looking forward to zelda(GC) and Dragonquest 8. These will keep me occupy for a bit, but will not make me quit FFXI :)

Ok, is anyone else getting deja-vu from Y2K? One person makes a thread about FFXIs fate and 1000 come to follow.

SE is working on another MMO, but I highly doubt it will draw too many people away from FFXI. Sure some will leave to try the other and some may even leave XI for a long time, but a lot of them will probably come back.

I don't see me leaving FFXI either. If anything, I might not even buy the new MMO (that 5000+ megabites FFXI takes up is more than a fourth of my laptop). I bet some people may leave, but not very many and not for too long. If it does affect the population, it won't affect it by much. If anything, people will be drawn by the 1337 graphics and weapons, lol ;)
