Thanks for the laugh, guys. :) Maintenance announcements always produce a good chuckle for me when the 'OMG' posts begin.

I get this picture in my head about the kind of lives you all lead. Lives where your whole world revolves around a game, where there are no friends other than those pseudo-acquaintances you perceive you have in game. One where there is no real grass, flowers, trees ... indeed any world at all outside your little black computer 'box'. That little box where pizza is shoved in one side, and a string of expletives and a mound of garbage comes out the other. I can just 'see' your surroundings and how limiting they are.

And, I have to laugh out loud, because otherwise I would cry. Since I am trying to cut down on my Kleenex budget and since laughing is good for your health (good medicine for cancer, wards off depression, and a good guffaw can clear out your smoggy lungs), I appreciate your contributions to my health! /smile

I find it somewhat amusing how you pick at people whose lives you assume 'revolve' around a game, and then end it ironically with a command prompt from said game. Lovely.

It is good to see that us poor game addicts amuse you in some way, because otherwise you might actually have to go outside and you know, get friends that amuse you? Or you may even have to persue activities that result in happiness and involve getting out of the house, rather than perusing forums and chuckling at those worthless beings that are below you yet provide so much to laugh at.

Of course, now I am a hypocrite for criticizing someone who is criticizing others on an Internet forum, but oh well. The point is, there is maintenance, and where do we all find ourselves? On a forum about the game we keep refreshing, hoping to get in to. So let's all just get along mmkayyy? ;3

So would you all rather they not update and just let whatever problem they are encountering fester until they are forced to spend all weekend fixing it?

Relax, only about an hour left. =]

My question is: When the game is down for maintenance, will the plants I'm gardening whither and die? I've got 8 pots of plants that are scheduled to be harvested around the full moon. My sense is this 12 hours of downtime hits around the full moon. So I either harvest early, or harvest late. . . In either case jeopardizing my investment. When I planted, there was no mention of yet another server maintenance -- or I would have waited until after to plant my expensive seeds! I take it that SE has no way to "pause" the growth cycle of gardens?

Not sure if anyone has answered this question, but I've been gardening for over a year now. Some of my mules are packed with Moghancement:gradening furnishings, while other mules only have the basic pots. I've gone as long as 36 hours between examining plants (due to ffxi being down for maintenance, crashes, etc.) and I've never had a plant die.

I'm not sure exactly how they do it, but POL/FFXI must temporarily cease the timers on the plants so they stay alive, even though time in FFXI doesn't stop.

I'm not even gonna read the rest of the posts, but i highly doubt someone brought up:

All 21-24 hour HNM are in our time zone for the next week or more.

Please, suck it up and realize there is goodness in updates that happy at our time. I know I love "during the day" updates. Plus i work graveyard shift (10pm-8am), which makes life easy for me.

Yep, it's all about me me me... And let the rate downs proceed :D
