Some interesting findings about bloodpactsFollow

#1 Oct 12 2005 at 2:51 PM Rating: Good
I found this quite interesting. In addition to being able to add to a skillchain if a bloodpact is done during a chain but is not actually timed to be a part of it, it results in greater damage which does not affect the chain. I experimented with this a few times and have beaten some of my best records to date with maximum damage of over 1k.

You should post this on the SMN forum.

Also, which BPs are you using? If I use Levi's Tail Whip inbetween a chain, it messes it up. Some will mess it up however magical ones will not.

More details please since this doesn't work with all BPs unless it was changed with the update.

I guess the OP is refering to the lv 70 pacts since he said it went over 1k in damage and those lv 70 pacts can not be SC so it won't mess up the SC.

Would like to see more testing on this ^^

Well, some of my best records to date using this technique were Fenrir doing 1164 with Eclipse Bite at L69, Leviathan doing 1210 with Spinning Dive at L71, and Garuda doing 1457 with Predator Claws at L71. Minimum damage doing this technique has been short of 1k, all other times I average between 500-800 damage. It may possibly be that SE did an update recently, or that I could have a bit of latency lag so that although it looks like I started to BP mid-chain it may have started before or after so it did not muck it up. I will have to keep trying this out outside exp parties, I have only spotted this happening within the past 8 exp parties since 2 days ago.

ok, I was not gonna do this in my exp party since I thought it was unfair to ruin their skillchain experimenting, but at one point I accidentally used Spinning Dive in midchain. No interruption to the skillchain they still did light and the damage was near the 900s since it was Windsday (I should have used Predator Claws.)

Lvl 70 BPs are physical attacks. They do not SC.
The earlier BPs and AFs can SC with other WS tho.

Ah, of course! That would explain why they did not affect the skillchains since they chain with nothing. Now the question to why they actually do better damage while performed in a mid chain... that one baffles me, might have just been a fluke but it has been pretty consistant.

perhaps it works the same way a magic burst works. Dunno, not a summoner. Just a thought.

well an avatar technically IS magic so i guess it makes sense that you could MB even though it's a physical attack.

ill guess its because SE loves to find new ways to ***** up a thf's sc ~.>

so many times right after or during arching arrow ive seen the smn BP and send the mob runnin after his avatar, screwin up my sc lol >.<

its sky all over again XD

lmao, I had the opposite happen the other day. I had an avatar tanking for the first 20 seconds in the fight and saw the tank voke, so I thought "ok tank has voked so hate should be on the tank by now" so I released Leviathan just as they were starting a skillchain...and the first one missed because the dhalmel started racing after the whm because she had used divine seal curaga 3 at the very start of the battle, lol. XD

Anyways, in regards to the avatars seemingly do better damage with L70 bps in mid-skillchain gonna start throwing off a few of these after the update and see if I can beat my current dmg record of 1754. :D
