I'm sorry but we all have to live with it. They are replacing equipment. No doubt a result of Sunday's emergency maintenance. What was fixed on Sunday was a temp fix, and this is permanent.

Either that or they are accomodating the 360 launch. Not sure.

Doesn't suck too bad for me, though. I'll be working for 5 hours of it, and I gotta do laundry tonight anyway.

It always seems to be in GMT zone and everyone else gets away with it.

I understand the fact that the game needs to be updated and worked on. But why not carry out the work within another time zone slot and not GMT?

Thats the downside to not having local servers.

Anyone want to place bets on how long the maintainence will be extended to? My guess is 15 hours.

Can the length of time become less? Or is it always the time they say it going to be?

Oh well! At least i got my AF2 item last night and reached level 52 this morning-before the game went offline.

I don't know... I find myself playing more at night. After 9PM until 3 or 4 AM. Now I would be really dissapointed if I live in japan time zone.. maintenance just hit my regular play time :o

Playing during the day is not quite normal for me.

Well I hope this does fix whatever problems we are having. FFXI is still probably the best game as far as up time is concerned, but those that have been around since the start are a little frustrated because I don't ever think we had maintenance streaks like we have had recently. Please don't come at me with "well have you ever played blah blah". We are not talking about those games we are talking about this one.

As for the 10hrs of no FFXI, I will take my son to Disneyland and have some fun then play some SOCOM 3 when I get home

Nice one Square Enix.

Looooong maintenance during peak time GMT play. Which finishes at...ooohh..11am *** Time?

Case Closed really.

So far benefits European players get are..

lag with pops.
really bad timed maintenance...

Maybe after this mainteneance they'll just disable European players altogether?

Gm told me the maintenance is to do with hackers.

So Square Enix. With all their finance and punch. Need 12 hours maintenance time to sort out hackers and gil sellers.

This may sound like a winge. But. At the end of the day. If you pay $12 a month for a service. You DONT EXPECT THESE THINGS TO HAPPEN SO OFTEN AND SO RANDOMLY!!!!!

Sort your head out Square Enix.

Oh well. If things get that bad, i could always go for a walk around the local Asda(Wallmart to some of you) supermarket and look at pc games that wont run on windows xp.

Ok, this is getting old.

Anyone that works in any technical job where you have to maintain systems used by clients know that you always do maintenance, that involves bringing the system down, during off-peek times.

If you check out the last census, you can see that login's drop off sharply after midnight JPN time. So, its obvious that this is the best time to do a maintenance. The graph isn't that detailed, however, so we cannot see exactly what the times are, but you can clearly see that the time with the least amount of logins is in the morning.

I have to bring down a system here at my work around 7pm EST sometimes. We have users over on the West coast, so it is only 4pm for them. But, too bad, because we go by the time at Headquarters which is on the East Coast.

This isn't part of some grand scheme to shaft all Non-Japanese players. Please, enough with the conspiracy theories.

Ive been playing for a year now and have noticed that the game has been offline more in the last 4 months, then when i first started playing.

Most of this was because of the DDOS attacks that were going on.

It also seems worse this week because we also had a update done.

There isnt an online game that is up 100% all the time. That just dosent happen.

It would be a better thing if SE could rotate the time zones in which the work is done. It always seems to be in GMT.

I dont moan that often. Really. I'm English. The English are notorious for not wanting to make a fuss.

But it's simple. I pay the monthly fee. I dont expect to get 2 days of play wiped in one week. Simple as.

Whether its for hackers, gil sellers, 360 stuff, or checking every single mog house for Pornographic Literature.

I dont really care. Its their problem. Not mine. I pay for the service. Not the inconvenience.

And granted. It doesnt happen that often. But when it does...

Imagine. If you can. A restaurant. A good and a bad one. In a good restuarant. When things start to go wrong. When the chef is screaming at the floor staff. When the freezer has packed up. A good restuarant will sort it. The runners will peg it down to asda and buy up all the sorbets and ice creams. And store them in the ice machine. The Manager will calm the Chef down and lift the floor staffs spirits. And the customers will be none the wiser to any crisis.

A bad restaurant, however. Will have the chefs obsceneties sailing through the house. The floor staff will be running round weeping hysterically in front of the customers. Ice cream will be running down the walls and all the desserts will be off tonight. And the manager will be very nervously racing from table to table saying ' I do apologise and thankyou in advance for your co- operation'.

OTT that maybe. But you get my drift?

Ps At least you'd probably get a free bottle of wine in a restaurant. Would it really crack Square Enixs bank balance to give us 2 days free?
#25 Oct 13 2005 at 10:59 AM Rating: Default
Lol sorry I'm on one now.

Square Enix. Please don't say Thankyou for your co-operation. Its not like you asked me and gave me the choice.

Is it.

*Casts Barfire*

I am glad we're getting all this maintenance. It shows that SE is committed to FFXI and wants to ensure that all the players can enjoy the game in spite of the number of people that are online or jerks that seek to profit from this game or losers with no lives that want to ruin our fun.

P.S. Don't blame me for the spelling or punctuation errors. Blame my teachers or Safari's spellchecker bekuz i spel gud.
