Hi I'm new here. I've been using your guide since I started and the item look up and quest guides help alot.
Anyway when I was making my character for each race it gave me the option to be small, medium and large. I know that taru's are generally short and other races have there respective sizes so small isn't the same size for a taru as it is a hume. I was just wondering if there was a picture or a size chart of the size differances some where. Maybe a wall line up of the different sizes within each race or something. Thank you in advance.

For a quick answer, the height of the races.

Tarutaru
Mithra
Hume
Galka
Elvaan

Tarutaru being the smallest and Elvaan being the tallest

Mithras are a little smaller then hume and I'm pretty sure galkas are inbetween humes and elvaans

The actual height differences for small, medium, and large are pretty inconsequential, really.

Unfortunately, the game won't show you any preview of the size, but imagine a couple inches either way. I believe the model it shows you in the opening is medium - not that you have anything to compare it with.

I chose the tall elvaan, the tallest. I didn't notice it in the game until I started really looking. The differences really are pretty slight, even moreso with, say, taru. Just imagine how you would like to look as compared to others. The size will be generally the same, just a tiny bit taller or shorter. The difference won't blow your mind at all, it'll be pretty subtle. Usually you won't really even notice the difference in height in the same race until 2 models with different heights stand side by side.

sorry can't help you with a height guide. There is an option to play first-person, where I guess your own height will mean you are looking up the noses, or down on the scalps of other people, but I suspect most people play third-person, where you are a distance from everyone and height difference don't really matter much. Personally I find the tall mithra model is significantly larger than a short mithra... but it's not something you notice unless the two are next to each other to compare. Short tarus are so small they almost disappear, and their costumes are just a small blurry ball ^-^

I find that humes are significantly shorter than Elves, Mithras to Humes and Tarus to mithras... So just personally I prefer taller humes, mithra and Taru. Taller Elves and Galka really tower over everyone else, so shorter Elves and Galka are preferable if you want to blend in.

I chose a small Galka, and since I am in an all Galka linkshell, you can really see the height differences. I get made fun of :(

I have a Large Mithra and I am the same size as a small Hume so that should give you an idea I hope.

You'll only notice a difference when near someone of your own race.

With Taru I would think you would want the largest model possible, the gear is already so hard to see.

Yeah...I'm a large Mithra and when paired with a small Mithra, I'm a full head taller. I don't compare too much with other races, but it's obvious when standing next to a person of the same race.

Okay, here we go.

T Elvaan
T Galka
M Elvaan
M Galka
S Elvaan
M Hume T Mithra S Galka
S Hume M Mithra
S Mithra

L Taru

M Taru

S Taru

Ground

That's about as accurate as I can tell you. L is large, M is medium, S is small.

The taller you are, the slower it feels when you run.

Tarus - large seems to be near the top of the grasses, medium peeks through the grasses where they spread, small can't see a darn thing while in the grass.

That's how I measure it all. As a taru, I still peek up into a sea of knees most of the time. After years as a taru now, I can't stand to play my mules which are hume and elvaan - I feel so slow and awkward when I do.

Imo, small medium or large only changes head size for taru <.<;

True. When I play my Taru mule, she runs SO FAST!

However, I can't stand being a taru. It's the visibility range. If you are running around possible aggro...that Elvaan will see that goblin and run around him...while the taru will keep running into the grass and eventually see the frontside knees of that goblin. >_>

Dangerous being a taru.

Okay, T humes are under M Galkas then.

And uhh, the best Taru to punt would be slightly tall, but not flat on the ground.

Have you ever noticed how a Large Tarutaru's Head is about as big as a Mithra's Torso?

I tend to agree with Deadgye... the head is what changes.

There we go. Now it's fixed.

I'm L Galka and I still overshadow L Elvaan by a lot :D
<.< That's why Galka are a 'physically imposing race'

Speaking of race height, how tall do you think the different races in Final Fantasy would be in real life?

Please forgive the bump, but I've just now started wondering this myself.
I tried to scour the internet for an answer, but nothing definitive has come up.
The best I can start with assuming is that an L Hume man would be around 6'0"/182cm maybe?
Anyone else have any thoughts or info?
