Vanatime 1.8 is now released.

It has the requested Tray Icon and i've included an Auto TimeSync too.

Bugfix in this Version:

Recoded the G15 Applet, cause the old one didn't allow Windows to shutdown.

*Original Post*

Hey all Logitech G15 owners someone has finally integrated a ffxi timer app into the LCD for the G15 after so long going without any LCD support. This wonderful persons name is Inferia and heres a link to the thread at the g15 forums.

http://www.g15forums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3637

Inferia wrote:
Hi,

i've just added G15 Support to my little FFXI Timer "Vanatime".
I won't go deep into the Timers Features, as this Posts sole purpose is to tell you about the included G15 Applet.

The Timer is coded in Delphi, and it is using Thunderstruck's G15 Component.
@Thunderstruck : Thanks again for this nice Component!

The G15 Applet can show the following Information on your LCD Display without using a Windower or other Third Party Tools.
So the main advantage of this Timer is, that you don't violate the POL License Agreement.

The Applet can show the following Timer Data:
- Graphical Moon Phase
- Airship Countdowns
- Worldtime
- Ferry Times
- Guild Times

You can see all Features at Vanatime's official Homepage: http://www.vanatime.de.vu

How to use the Applet:

Button1 = show next Screen
Button2 = show prev Screen
Button3 = go to Screen1 (Logo)
Button4 = TimeSync (if enabled)

Please notice, that the G15 Applet is NOT enabled by default!
To enable it do the following steps:
------------------------------------------------

1. Install Logitech Software (if not done already)
2. start Vanatime and follow these steps:

- Click on "Timer"
- Click on "Config"
- set the Checkbox at "Enable G15 LCD Applet"
- set the Checkbox at "Autostart G15 LCD Applet on Startup" if you want
- Click on Apply

Now the G15 Button is active. (You can find it under the Button named "Pause")

another way to enable the Applet is to add/edit the following lines in vanatime.ini:

[G15]
AutoStartApplet=1 (0 or 1 whatever you want)
Enable_G15_Support=1

You can activate the "Time Sync" Feature here too.
This Feature allows to sync your System Time with SNTP Servers on the Web. To use the TimeSync Feature, just press LCD Button 4 with the Applet running.

G15 Applet and TimeSync are not enabled by default, cause some people don't want a Program to use Hardware or Internet Connections without asking for it. ^^

------------------------------------------------
Ok here are some Screenshots showing the G15 Applet in Action:

I just downloaded this little app, and it is great for the G15! Finally something pretty useful for FFXI for those of us who don't like to break the ToS or anything like that. Now if it will only tell me when to go farm.......

I like my G15 a lot. I also find it pretty useful for FFXI, because setting the G-keys to FFXI macro combinations (Ctrl/Alt+#) means they never fail due to not pressing them fast enough or pressing them too quickly the way they do when you use the keyboard combinations normally. All I have to do is hit one button on the side and it never fails to use the JA or spell it's set to. The LCD screen is also nice for controlling a media player and still knowing what's going on while in the game.

Oh, one of the other nice things about the G15 is its keys. They don't have printed characters on them, but rather clear plastic in the shape of the characters with a blue light under it. This has two advantages: you can see it in the dark, and the labels never wear off from use.

Also, if you don't want the LCD screen, I believe the G11 is the same keyboard just without the LCD. Probably costs a bit less, though the LCD is pretty cool for when people make nifty applications like in the OP.

This is the first time I've seen that new Zboard but it looks pretty slick too.

I have a friend who had a Guildwars zboard he used when he played GW, and I guess it just started disconnecting randomly from his USB and mine when he tried it on my computer.

I'm not sayin that Zboards are shoddy or that Logitech only uses the best components available (i wish..) but personally id stick with a G15 over that zboard.

Other than personal opinion however, I'd say that Zboard and their software looks quite capable of making and executing custom macros just like a G15 can do. (Although it looks like it would serve a WoW player more use than a FFXI player.)

The ZBoard is a piece of ****. I bought one and took it back the same day. There are no programmable keys on it at all. (EDIT: Ok is this a new Z-Board that's come out? 'Cos I bought mine ages ago and it had no programmable keys. Don't know anything about a new one.)

I bought a G-11 about three weeks ago. It's great for FFXI. The G-11 is the exact same keyboard as the G-15 but minus the LCD screen. That's the only difference.

With these G-keyboards you get 18 G-keys down the left hand side which can be programmed to instantly enter into the game any line of text. I use the keys for 18 of my most used one line WHM spells. Then I still have the 20 normal in game macros on Ctrl and Alt. I use those for all the gear swap macros I need because the G-keys can struggle with multi line macros in FFXI. But for simple spells like :

/ma "Paralyna" <t>
/ma "Stona" <t>
etc. etc.

... those G-keys are amazing. Really free up your macro palette for the more complex gear swap macros. Plus there are three modes those G-keys can be in. So it's actually 18x3 = 54 programmable keys. Useful if you more than one 75 job.

I think you can do that yeah. Not tried it myself beacause it's a waste of a macro. You would have G1 being the same as your Alt-1 macro. Why would you want to do that? All you doing is saving yourself from pressing the Shift key.

Like I say, the G-Keys are great for simple one line macros like status ailment cures etc, freeing up your normal macros for those complex gear swap ones. I use normal macros for my WHM gear swap sets for Max MP, Max HMP, Haste, MND set ups etc. Also for my Bar spells 'cos I need to macro in +Elemental gears.

Haha! Yeah I see what you getting at there. But this keyboard is way better than just using it for that. I currently have 38 different spells/job abilities easily available for my WHM. Using the G-Keys to just have 18 available to save pressing Shift would be a travesty really. :p

Yes however it takes some time to setup the delays which can be a real hassle. If you are talking about how you press one key and it changes like 10 pieces of armor it's possible you would have to set it up something like

Down ALT
Delay 0.058
Down 1
Delay 0.058
Up 1
Up ALT
Delay 0.250
Down ALT
Delay 0.058
Down 2
Delay 0.058
Up 2
Up ALT

You get the picture. The problem with the G15 keyboards is the G key editing which is crappy to say the least. The programmer records each keystroke process instead of each keystroke.
So to type out something like "Hello" you will have a Down and Up press for each letter H - E - L - L - O.

Possible? Yes. Pain in the ***? Yes.

This LCD app is great, there was a few people back working on a FFXI app for the G15 glad to see one finally done. Nice find OP.

If you ever get a Logitech G15 gaming keyboard you can use the G keys to do all kinds of cool stuff for a WHM.

For instance I have mine setup so that the first 6 out of 18 keys on my 1st of 3 macro pages (each containing 18 possible keys) is all of my cures and regens.

Then I made the next 6 my most used na spells 'poisona silena etc' and then the final one of the 6 (G12) I made my Erase button.

Since theres only 18 that leaves ctrl+0 and alt+0 unable to be mapped to my Gkeys on one page, but thats not a problem as I thought up the idea of using those 2 as secondary gear switch macros, like my Cure setup has 2 macros for it Alt+5 and Ctrl+0. All I did was have my G14(alt+5) key trigger first alt+5 then 0.300 milliseconds later ctrl+0. And I did the same thing for my h/MP gear switch (alt+6 0.300ms alt+0) and it works great.

Then later on in using this crazy keyboard I stopped using my alt+7 and alt+8(G16 and G17) keys so I programmed those to trigger the commands used to open the magic menu and also to open the job abilities menu. Therefore buff spells are easily triggered through my magic menu (which was sorted manually to make scrolling through it easy *for me*) and that took care of my barspells, protects etc. So that now leaves my alt+7 and 8 free to be a 3rd macro page for possible gear switches if needed (ie. G14-alt+5 0.300ms ctrl+0 0.300ms alt+7)** All three in just one button is great.

Then I took my second page of macros and cloned the main macros from my other page, so that its a semi functional version of the original except the bottom keys are all dedicated to staff switch-outs. Which makes it insanely easy to change to any staff, then open the magic menu and choose a debuff or buff or raise or tractor or escape *insert 5000 spells here*

Page1(M1)
G1 ctrl+1 CureII
G2 ctrl+2 CureIII
G3 ctrl+3 CureV
G4 ctrl+4 Regen
G5 ctrl+5 RegenII
G6 ctrl+6 RegenIII

G7 ctrl+7 Poisona
G8 ctrl+8 Paralyna
G9 ctrl+9 Blindna
G10 alt+1 Silena
G11 alt+2 Cursna or Viruna or Stona *depending on situation*
G12 alt+3 Erase

G13 alt+4 Haste (good spot for it due to the way the macro palette is laid out.)
G14 alt+5/ctrl+0 Cure Setup
G15 alt+6/alt+0 h/MP Setup
G16 alt+M Magic Menu
G17 alt+J Ability Menu (seriously try hitting alt+J normally :rolleyes:)
G18 alt+9 is my /target <bt> macro for targeting whatever the group is attacking (call me old fashioned but I cant seem to shake my love for this particular button *mostly for debuffs unless ******** around with melee bs*)

Page 2(M2)
G1-G12 Cures Regens na's and erase(same as Page1(M1))

G13-G15 Earth Staff Wind Staff Ice Staff

G16-G18 Same as page1 (makes it easy to hit a staff and scroll the magic menu, or hit a staff use an ability ie. Elemental Seal, and then scroll the magic menu)

Page3(M3)
Blank... Seriously I havent thought of a use for this page of macros, but it will be there when I do.

:edit: I've changed up my setup a bit since then incorporating macro page switches into multiple macro gear switches. Such as the G button changing to a secondary page full of gear swaps and hitting 2-4 of them and then switching back to the normal macro sheet. ie. Alt+0 then Ctrl+Shift+4 then Ctrl+1 Ctrl+2 Ctrl+3 then Ctrl+Shift+1 back to my normal setup.

The possibilities are really limitless, oh and 0.111 is the magical delay that works in any lag (and is also incredibly easy to type when youre doing a multiple delay macro) 1 1 1 ftw
