<Moogle Cap> <Do you need it?>Follow

Well, of course you don't NEED it...

But for those of you who WANT it, there is a way to still obtain one~!

Starting today, for one week only, you can obtain a moogle cap by purchasing a spiffy FFXI key chain that was offered at Tokyo Game Show (the code came with your purchase). Apparently, they sold out pretty damn fast there, and to make up for it they are offering this 1-week only deal.

You can order a maximum of three key chains: 1 of each nation. Each one runs for 1500 yen, so you're looking at about $15 each, plus the shipping cost to the Japanese residence, PLUS overseas shipping. It won't be the best deal, but I guess that's subjective to how much you value this in-game item.

https://ffkey.square-enix-shop.com/

As I hinted at, and before I get your hopes up any higher, you have to purchase this merchandise with a Japanese address. Good for those who already live in Japan, not so good if you don't. Of course, if you have connections, now would be a good time to ask for a favor! I emailed one of my host families from a trip to Japan last year concerning this topic, so hopefully I'll hear back from them soon~.

The one thing I am NOT sure about concerns how many codes you will receive with your order. Google translator helped me up until this point. I can't make sense as to whether a code will come with EACH key holder (for instance, buying the maximum 3 key holders (1 of each nation) would yield 3 codes), OR if your order, regardless of how many key chains, will only give you one code for a cap. If someone can clarify this, I would appreciate it.

Also, on another note, does anyone have any information regarding WHERE you would enter this code to retrieve your cap? I talked to one of those festive moogles, but they just keep telling me that I've already received my anniversary ring. If you have any info on this, that would be great to.

So, that's about all there is to it. If you have the money, the connections, and the desire to jump through the hoops to get a neat key chain and silly hat...best of luck!

psst, http://www.crescent-shop.com/

Used it before to buy things from yahoo japan to have sent to me in Madison, WI. Worked fine before, and I believe you should be able to use it for shops like this, too. Results may vary.

Wonder if they'll sell those at the fan festival...

I wish SE would stop ******** around with the FFXI merch. There is a market for it, but for some reason they don't want to fill that market.

After I spent 30 minutes in the queue at TGS to buy one of these only to find they were all sold out, this is an awesome find. D:

Thank you so much - ordering my Windy Chain right now. :D

Now I just gotta find some tickets to the Osaka fanfest...

OK, after a bit more googling, I found out how one obtains the cap via entering the code.

From the FFXI Playonline window (the one you encounter before clicking "Play"), you go to "Optional Service," and then to "Reward Code Registration." After plugging in the code their, I guess the Festive Moogle dialog changes to allow you to receive your prize. You have until January 31st, 2008.

So it does seem very likely that the code will work for US and EU versions of the game.

I'm actually curious if they'll offer this at Fan fest, and when will the customer get the cap. The site says you'll receive the key chain mid-November - December (with TGS the code was on paper http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/tarblm/imgs/1/e/1e677191.jpg ).
Or are they going to send the code with the key chain when you receive it in Nov. or will they tell you the code as soon as you place the order?? I'm guessing that they're in the processes of making/stocking the key chains to sell at the festivals hence why they state you'll receive it in Nov.

I've just placed my order, and no hint of the code here - it'll be most likely the code will come with the chain in November when I recieve it.

It seems that they are indeed restocking, as the guy I talked to on the SE booth really didn't expect the keychains and T-Shirts they had at TGS to sell out so fast. There is a huge demand for the merch, and I'm sure the fanfests in November will be no different.

How does one actually go about ordering from this site? I looked it over, and I gather you tell them what you want and they tell you if it's possible for them to obtain the item? It seems a bit confusing. If someone who has ordered from Crescent Shop could please elaborate, I'd appreciate it; I'd really like one of those keychains!

Thank you in advance.

Update:

Just received word back from my host family, and they clarified that you will receive a code with EACH key chain. So you can place an order for a Bastok and Windy key chain, and receive two moogle caps. I realize this doesn't mean much to you if you only want a cap for yourself, but I needed to know because both my brother and I want one. If you decide to get two keychains, maybe you could give one to a friend for Christmas! :D

As for mentioning the "RMT business" thing...it does kind of sound like that in a way, doesn't it? XD Although you are *really* paying money for the key chain, I bet most of the people are only purchasing it for the in-game item. But, since it is non-transferable and doesn't add any substantial performance value to the wearer, it really won't have an affect on the economy or game play. Plus, it's their game, and if they wanted to start offering RMT services (God forbid), well, they can do that. ^^;

Edit: Also, Astrotrain, didn't mean to ignore your post, but I didn't look too much into it either. It just says to be specific in describing what you want to buy, and they tabulate the total costs and probably tack on several extra bucks for profit (I mean, they have to make it somehow!). If you just buy one keychain, I'd imagine it costs $15 for the keychain, there's an added $5 to ship to Japanese residences, and then the cost for oversees mail (no idea what this would be), and then profit costs. I would guess over $30, so you may have to reflect if it will be worth it or not.

Here's a how-to for purchasing items through the crescent shop (with pictures!):

http://members-crescent.net/help/shopping_howto.htm

As Nibu said, you submit your request saying what you want and how much (really important to be detailed so they don't order the wrong thing but you're also able to upload a picture of the item you want). They will reply back to you (not sure how long it takes) with a price quote for the order and you then have the choice to continue with the purchase or not.

Thank you for the link for the keychain. I was worried that there might not be keychains at the fan festival in Anaheim and I really coveted the regular moogle cap more so than the nomad. So excited to get mine in the mail!

According to this example, it looks like their commission runs about 17% of the total price. So $15 for keychain + $5 for domestic shipping + bank wire ($2.50?) + over seas shipping + commission = Yeah, a little over $30 probably.

Thank you Nibu and all who contributed ^^

My wife and I are both San d'Orian so I hope we can both get one. Otherwise I asked Crecent to substitute one for a Windurst. This will make a great Christmas present for her (and me :D).

I just created a new account and it required street address, city, state, country, and zip code. Then all I had to do was log in and create a new message. Seems to work ok. Which part is giving you trouble?

You're welcome ^^

Also, if you want 2 Sandy keychains, maybe you can ask them to create 2 accounts for the SE shop, and order the keychains separately? I am not sure how the store keeps track of who is ordering, whether it is by the account, address, name, or whatever. It's worth a shot, though. It would cost you an extra $5 for SE shipping a separate package within Japan, and I would hope that Crescent wouldn't charge you any more commission on that. After all, when they send it to you, they can just put it in one box.

As a side note for all those who are ordering this keychain: You won't be getting them until late November/December. Ordering for this week is basically just a way for SE to see how many they need to make; they'll be sending them out in the middle of November.

How so?

You're not getting gil. It's just a chance for those (in Japan) who could not attend the festival to get a keychain and an in-game r/e item.

I've made a crescent account as well, though I'm unsure if this little scheme of ours will actually work Smiley: laugh

It looks like the people at Crescent will have to make a new SE shop account for each person that wishes to get these keychains; I'm weary that SE will become savvy to all the new accounts being created just for these keychains, all sent to the Crescent offices/warehouse/ramen shop. It would be just like pull something like that....
