my boyfriend's account has been stolen ><;; help!Follow

#1 Jan 23 2008 at 10:45 AM Rating: Decent
i didn't know where else to post this, but my boyfriend's account has been hacked. Last time he logged in was this morning, it's in the afternoon now and when he tried to login, it gives him "wrong POL ID or pass".

he went to live help on pol website, and they asked him to call this number, which he did, and they asked really specific questions, and he answered all. except that my boyfriend has been playing for two to three years, so he misplaced his registration code, which they require. he gave them the registration codes for ToAU and WotG expansions, but still they wanted the registration code for POL which he looked everywhere for but couldn't find. Now they asked him for his date of birth, and he gave it to him, but they said it's incorrect. it is impossible that it's incorrect!!! i don't know how this happened. they also told him that the credit card information and everything has been changed today! a proof that it is stolen.

what should he do now. is there a way to retrieve the registration code from his PC? and how is it possible that his date of birth is changed.. this is absurd!!! help! what to do now! ; ;

They changed his DOB.

POL Reg info should be in the Manual in the back, does he still have the book that came with the game?

If he plays on PC it's probably some website that he went to that stole his account information, lots of people seem to be having this problem. While I do not have an answer of getting his account back, I do suggest to either
A)Read the sticky at the top to help you increase your security, or
B)Start playing on Xbox360 or if possible, PS2, then you would not have to worry about these kind of problems, and can browse mithra hentai all you wish.

1- Never throw away registration codes or CD-keys ...

2- If he was under 18 years old when he created his account, he needed to use a fake BoD to be able to create the account.

3- I hope you find a way to get his account back.

4- Don't use IE

Not much you can do. Without the original registration codes, there really isn't anything at all they (SE) can do because you can't prove you ever owned the account... Even if you had the original registration codes, there still is no guarantee you would still get anything done. Hundreds of accounts have been hacked since a little before XMas and nothing has been done to this point to combat it. There is talk of SE returning hacked accounts to players and changing their account policy's, but it hasn't happened as of yet. I am sorry to say, but the account may be gone for good... Sorry to hear about this.

There is no way to get it from the computer. Search everywhere for that registration code. I keep mine in my computer desk. Search where you keep you hard ware manuals. Mine FFXI codes are right next to my TV manual..

The whole account hack business started at the end of November 2007. Since then several thousand accounts have been stolen. Up until a few weeks ago SE didn't do anything for the victims of the thefts but then when they noticed they lost quite a few $ about 2 weeks ago they started to lock down accounts so that neither you nor the account theft could access them anymore. They promised there would be a new policy to fix the whole issue but I wouldn't expect to get that account back anytime soon. SE has let us down so many times already their whole customer service is the worst I've ever had to deal with it's not even funny anymore. And their higher ups obviously only employ people without common sense.

BTW: Even if you had that damn registration code all they would do for now is lock down the account. As long as you can't confirm every damn information which they ask for(and you can't of course since someone else changed them) they aren't going to give back the account.

Call SE and report your account as compromised.

They will ask you for all your old Credit Card information, your character names, your levels and where you last logged. After that, join my clubhouse of fun and frolic as we watch RMT once again take a hot **** on FFXI.

What was your BFs characters name and server, if i may ask?

You should also run Kaskpersky Anti-virus, Avira and AVG. Spybot Search and Destroy has a new version - download that as well. Run scans and remove whatever may have affected your BFs PC.

Use Opera Internet Browser or Firefox with its plugins, avoid IE nowadays.

/good luck.

I dont see how people lose their codes unless they moved. I keep all my games in one place, and copies of codes if I need them.

I use SIW at work to find things out that have been lost. Internet log passwords, key codes, and a bunch of other info. I AM NOT SURE it can pull the FFXI reg codes, but there is a very good chance it can. You'd have to play around with the program to see if it offers the info you need.

Hope it helps and good luck

He went to england last summer (he goes there every summer) and took the manual with him there in case he needs it to reinstall the game. he must have left it there since he can't find it anywhere in the house. so now what, he waits for next summer? there's noway there's any gil left in his account by now.. or gear.... damnit.. DAMN SE!!!

he offered the guy he spoke to on the phone to send a copy of his passport, or any ID he requests to prove he's the legitimate owner of the account. he would fax it right away. he even offered to send him a court-approved identity-proof (i don't know what it is called in english, i'm not a native speaker) to prove that he is who he says he is. they refused!!!! absurd!

so they really expect him to just sit there and just start all over? he had completed rank missions, cop, roz and toau, he has two 75s and one 71, as well as a few 40s-65s. he's veteran woodworking and has a little more than 2mil's in gil. he gave them all the information he could remember.. but they said they can't do anything...

nobody is going to start over. the way i see it, this is just encouragement to gil/character buying.

1- Call and make account be frozen
2- It's not SE's fault that he lost his account. SE has a crappy customer service that's all.
3- Character name and Server please?

You cannot claim something you cannot proof you owned it -- that is just natural. And I hate to say it, there is no real evidence from a bunch of text and rant proof what you say is true, especially I do not know you. There are so much similar threads now that I cannot tell who is being honest and who is not.

If you want to get helped, stay calm and do not go emo. Often things you claim is lost is really there somewhere in your house. And yes, I still have my registration codes.

Did he stay with friends or family in England ? If so, perhaps they still have the manual lurking about there. Perhaps email whoever you stayed with and ask them so copy down the codes into an email for you .

i don't know why is everyone interested in my bf's character name and server. i don't know if i should give that information out. i mean, we're holding to every hope that this account is going to be retrieved. so i don't want to further complicate things for him.

he goes to england every year with family and stays at the family apartment. nobody is there at the moment. except the janitor who's too dumb to look for a stupid manual. they only go there every summer to escape the heat.

and the reason i blame SE for this, and you can laugh all you want, is because if you make people pay to play a game you made, you should take responsibility of protecting these people from such theft! otherwise, maybe you're not supposed to be in the game business.... so yeah, I BLAME SE! and i probably blame u too...

SE cannot protect your computer for you. It's not SE's fault if you have been infected by a keylogger/virus/spyware.

There ARE some exceptions to EVERY rule. Just depends on if you get a good CS rep or not.

nobody asked se to protect my computer. they're supposed to protect my account, with my information, with my character, with my gil, with my crap!!!
but i'm not asking you to understand, i'm not expecting u to, i just hope somebody you get to feel how it's like, to have an account stolen, your 3-year-work, just disappear, and i hope you loose your codes too. :P

Why wouldn't you want to give out the name and server? If it was stolen, why not give it out? What do you have to loose?

You sound like a ditz, lay off the !!!1!1!

Uhh, look at scchan's sig. And Soracloud's. It's ok. If you want more of us to help your bf any further, telling us is the better option. But do what you want.
