You are correct; it is not covered specifically in the ToS. It is however covered under "GM Policies". (As PlanckZero stated.) I'm sure if you had reported to a GM that "Hey, we just split our group up and got 2 of the same drop in the loot pool! Is that ok?” the response would have been "<GM Dave> Thanks, I'll be taking that."

The issue here isn't about the glitch itself, it's the fact that those that used/abused said glitch are attempting to justify to the masses that it was ok to do so. You were breaking FFXI Rules and Policies and are unwilling to admit to it. Again, it is this sense of entitlement of the select few by stating "I did <insertevent> 100 times a week for 3 years with nothing to show for it, I'm getting mine now 'cause we found this glitch". You are entitled to ****. The <insertitem> did not drop so move along. Get over yourself that you deserved said <insertitem> for whatever reason because of your perceived status.

You'd think that all the people that benefited from this would be saying "Oh well, at least we got some items." No, they are **************** about how SE screwed them and they'll never get anything now.(Again that entitlement issue.) Last I checked the glitch only increased the quantity of each drop in the treasure pool. It did not affect the drop rate itself.

I hope something nasty happens to all the offenders. Its just classic that they are all gloating about how much they got away with and how they are crying that they won't be able to anymore. I have been away for a few months and planned on coming back in December...it would be great to have these people banned and know my streets are a little bit cleaner when I return.

These sorts of people exist in just about every game. It reminds me of the people in Diablo II that would dupe items and use hacks, then gloat about how much 'better' they were at the game. Well sure you are going to have a good chance of beating me in a duel if you are using every illegal advantage you can get your hands on and I'm not. The problem is too, these types of people will never understand or accept that they did something wrong - they will always be able to justify their actions to themselves no matter how large a portion of the regular population says they are wrong. These people aren't just like this in gaming either...this is generally their way of life.

Sure, someone made the statement that they are the people who have figured out lots of the strategies of the game, but all their accomplishments have been tainted now, so as far as I say - F*#k their accomplishments. As far as I'm concerned, their accomplishments have come through using gear they received through cheating methods, so everything they have done has come through illegal advantages.

I do hope they get banned, but even if they don't its nice to know that they have been tainted in the eyes of the whole population (the legit population anyway). They are now among the ranks of RMT and gilbuyers. They are no longer the elite players of Vana'diel, they are just a bunch of cheaters, and they can do nothing to take that away.

Time will tell, but considering how much this was abused in the Japanese community (and we all know this is where SE really makes their doe). I highly doubt there will be any consequences to those who abused the glitch.

All one can do is email them and give them a peace of your mind. Hopefully if enough do this we can get rid of the cheaters. Because if they are doing this who knows what else they are up to.

I can't seem to find the notice or the picture that went with it....

Does anyone recall what I'm thinking about? The picture had something like a cup marked with warnings, suspension, ban etc with a taru crying next to the picture of the full cup.

you mean this one?

Regrettably, fixed for overall clarity.
