Character Transfer? thats the stupidest thing i have ever heard. ITS A NEW GAME.

Well, if characters cannot be transferred from FFXI to FFXIV, then at the very least I would hope that all 20 of the current jobs in FFXI will be available in FFXIV along with some new ones for us to play with. (Necromancer anyone?)

Oh they have learned. Please for the love of god, dont make a solo friendly MMO and copycat WOW. WOW destroyed the MMORPG genre by introducing single player MMORPG and look what has happened to WOW. The point in an MMO is to play with other people, otherwise stick to a single player. Also dont make it casual please, as hardcore as FFXI was in the beginning please ^^

So when would that stop having summoning magic in it?
Summoning magic has been in every FF starting with FFIII, it's a series staple, not an FFXI staple, and Leviathan has been in FFII(not as a summon) III, IV, V, VI Advance, VII, VIII, IX and XI, so who's to say he won't be in XIV.

Wonder if they will make the characters more customizable... like let us pick from hair styles and colors.... if someone wants pink hair let them have pink hair SE! XD

They said PS3 console exclusive, it's coming to the PC as well.

Don't know if this has been said. But for those saying that just because it only has "Online" under it, doesn't mean it's an MMO. Not necessarily proving it but the FFXI has the Online under it too. Check http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/index.shtml at the top to see.

Rofl at all the people hoping to have a character transfer option. The idea of losing your beloved "hard worked" (this is a game you play for fun, shouldnt really put it that way) characters might scare you now, but seriously, if they would add a possibility to transfer your old pimped out character with all the good gears and max lvl jobs to the game you would already lose half of the stuff that game has to offer.

At least I've had about a ton more of fun leveling my jobs, gathering end game gear and doing stuff like that, than doing events with my already good gear and max lvl jobs with nothing much more to accomplish. I'm sure not many of you remember your actual newbie days, when everything was fresh and weird and we all had a lot to learn, but I do - and it was hella fun. It was much easier to be one of the newbies than it is to be a veteran with newbies in a pt for example, I find my attitude to be completely different. Where I used to find all the stupid mistakes and wipes and stuff like that fun, I do not anymore, I just get a bit pissed when something like that happens.

So I'd actually like to have a fresh start, to be that guy standing on a new zone looking for new adventures without knowing much about anything that's ahead. Sounds a bit too dramatic for just a game but you get the point. If you try to remember the feeling you had in this game when everything was new and compare to the feelings you have about it now, when you've accomplished pretty much everything already, don't you miss that feeling? Because I sure as hell do.

This is looking to be interesting, I'll most probably get it from the start. And forget keeping name/model. I'd like my name but the model can be changed, I'd hope they've got some new looks this time around.

Also, FFXI was originally PS2 only, now you can join an exp party with one on PS2, PS3, 360, XP, Vista, and Linux (wine). A whole friggin team of people using different forms of media and OS to play the same game. For all of FFXI's faults you've got to give them credit for that at least.
