Playonline Password resetFollow

I haven't played on my original account in several years. I bought a new copy a while back, but got discouraged by having to start ALL THE WAY OVER. Now that FF14 has been announced, I wanted to finish the rest of most of the stories in the mean time (I know they won't have any relation to each other, but for completeness sake). I have my playonline ID and all the reg codes, but no credit card info (card has long since been cancelled). I tried this once before and didn't get anywhere. Today, they asked me for a bunch of info that I did know since I didn't have the CC info, and they reset my password to playonline. However, I still had to dl and update the playonline viewer which took about 45 minutes. When I tried the password, it said it was incorrect.. and I tried it about 10 times with different variations and still no go. support is closed now, but I was wondering if anyone knew how long these password resets last.. I'm thinking it might have only been a temp password and they assumed I'd be changing it immediately.

The password change isn't temporary, you simply remembered it wrong.

Call them tomorrow (today for some of us) AS SOON as opening time hits. You should be able to reset the password again unless they find it fishy.

nah I didn't remember it wrong, can't remember copy and paste wrong.

Maybe they gave it to me wrong..


its eight characters 5 numbers and 3 letters, all caps.

I've changed letters that can be mistaken for other characters and all that jazz.. now my account is temp disabled due to too many tries to login.

I'll be contacting them again tomorrow.. i'm sure it will be fine, I saved the chat transcript.

...What? Man, they didn't offer to reset my password, even though I had what sounds like the same set of info (They even said "everything is correct except the credit card number.") They just said tough luck, ***** off. I mean, not verbatim, but completely unhelpful. What did you have to do to get them to actually help you?

this is what i put in the box thingy...

"Hi, I used to play FFXI years ago and with the announcement of FF14 I wanted to pick it up again. I have the playonline ID and all the registration codes associated. However I do not have the CC info, as that has been long cancelled. Is there another way I can have my ID's password reset?"


when I got into the chat.. she asked me the following.

Playonline ID
Playonline reg code
My home address
My Phone number
My email address
The Number of content ID's
Character Names
Registration date

I had all of the information except for the registration date, and I just gave her a ballpark answer for that as I had no idea. I got the telephone number wrong as well, but all the other info was correct. After 3 guesses on the telephone number being wrong, she said "one moment" and came back with a new playonline password. I'd tried this same thing before and like you, got 0 help. I'm worried I will get the same unhelpfulness today, so thats why I saved the transcript so if they try to give me crap I can show them that someone else already did what I am asking, it just didn't work.. so they can go ahead and do that junk again without any hassle.

after an hr of waiting, got back in to webchat..

they reset me again with little effort on my part.

I'm currently logged in working on seeing whats left of my content Id's... there's hope still!
