Warning to Players SE is STILL Banning!Follow

As frustrating as it is to be banned, its beginning to worry me that more innocent players will be banned in the upcoming weeks as SE appears to be systematically changing their policies on what is acceptable play for their FFXI service.

I'm starting this thread to gather the links on the forum of others that have been banned and to explain what it appears to be a pattern for those that were banned.

So far it appears all bans are being caused by at least one or more of the following reasons:

1.) An account with multiple chars up to 16 that are have pots growing items to be vendored for gil.

2.) A fake chargeback initated by SE themselves in which they force returning your funds to your CC and then cite that you requested it banning you with an LM-17 due to "irregular play" and "rmt activities." Their own GM's and Information Services Center have been scratching thier heads as they don't understand why most accounts have been banned.

3.) If you lose your Credit Card and have multiple accounts attached to it, upon reactivation with a different card you'll find that you cannot activate more then 1 account on the same card without a 24 hour waiting period. Should you try and activate a 2nd account with the same card and get the UCS-XXXXX error and then try again the next day with that very card, you will be banned with LM-17 "RMT activities".

4.) If you have an account with all characters under level 5 up to 16 mules with more gil 5 million gil on it and their auto-tool RMT-PWNER 1.337 is somehow triggered on your account, another auto tool called "Gilded Tomb" will come online and deem you are RMT for just having gil stored on a mule. Most players did this to keep from being too impulsive on buying or making those huge AH mistakes by adding extra zeros on purchases.

5.) If you camp on a specific spot for long periods over a period of at least 2 days and vendor some of the drops you are banned with LM-17 and deemed an account with "RMT Activities". Players banned with this have been told that they are perma-banned after review of their account. Subsequent ban complaints has resulted on deaf ears. To my knowledge this has happened in Den of Rancor and Sea Serpent Grotto.

6.) If you're account had a chargeback in the past and you reactivated recently, even with approval from POL Information Center you will be banned with LM-17 and told you're involved in "RMT Activities."

7.) Theortical: If you use any method of making gil besides doing quests or getting drops from NMs (and you may not camp the nm too much) you will be banned with LM-17 for "RMT Activities".

8.) If you have multiple mules with the same prefix, in my case I had Gummynet, Gummycat, Gummyfish, Gummyslave, Gummyelf, Gummylion, Gummyworm, and Gummycola. My friends ls was called Shield of Heaven and their mules all began with SOH.

9.) If you play FFXI from more then one ip they will accuse you of having more then one person having access to your account. For example, charter internet at home, at&t at work, and sprint aircard while travelling.

10.) More then one trial on the same ip will cause an autoban on both accounts.

I'll add to this thread when we find more instances. I really hope the rest of you choosing to continue to play are safe... So many good friends and linkshells have dissolved over this. Why is it so important to destroy Final Fantasy 11 to force everyone to Final Fantasy 14?

I'd like to give SE my congratz on destroying their playerbase on their witch hunt.

The most recent account to my knowledge banned was August 19, 2009, the Friday that just passed.

The most recent un-banning of an account occured on August 17, 2009.

Administrator here on these forums have begun collecting information regarding bans in an effort to help us make sense of it all. Please do e-mail him with anything you can provide to assist us in this matter.

It's important for people to realize SE is still on their witch hunt, more accounts were suddenly banned yesterday. Not a single account has been unbanned since July 10th, 2009.

Guys please don't turn this into a flamefest, alot of us is hoping SE would realize the crap they are doing and fest up to it and unban us. 6 years of playing to be slammed with this has already been a horrible enough experience. But thank you for your support everyone. /bow

It's greatly apprecaited. To those that seem to find this funny please carry on and ignore us. I honestly hope this doesn't happen to you.

Not sure about the ones for just storing gil.

However, w/ regard to the gardening & NPCing drops for gil:

It's fairly clear that SE wants us to make gil via interacting with other players. Therefore, if you make a lot of your gil doing anything where you're not selling to other players, it's potentially dangerous.

Examples:

It's ok to do wildgrass seeds if you use the greens for chocobo digging. It's not ok to do wildgrass seeds & NPC the results, even if you NPC everything else.

It's ok to farm for something you sell on the AH, or craft and sell on the AH. It's not ok to farm for something you just NPC.

Swear to God, SE fails so hard in so many ways. I'm so glad they have automated banning systems since they can't be bothered to actually pay people to investigate this sort of behavior. I have a large sum of money on a mule of mine, and I have a bunch of mules, I'm starting to fear for my life.

The best part is, while I still don't believe it will happen, the GM that told the admin here that they would ban people for using Yonin, because the Ninja Tools Expertise activates 100% of the time. Even though nothing says it shouldn't, even though there's been no in game announcements, or announcements at all, on the FFXI website, or anything, even though they could just disable it until it was unbroken, even though they should have tested something like that themselves, they threaten to ban players over it.

I have to agree with the others who say SE's customer service is so hilariously bad it's a wonder the people who still play are still here.

I've had to deal with SE customer service on probably 20 occasions, most because I'm forgetful and misplace my POL password and need to have it reset, but several times have been for double-billing... Not once have I had a bad experience. Not even when I lost my original registration codes during a move and got them waived from being necessary for account verification for the remainder of my time in FFXI. Of course, I'm not a richard to them, and the $1.00 in long distance fees it usually costs isn't going to make me have to eat raman for a week.

But yeah, they need an 800 number.

I remember years ago back in 2005/2006 people would come on here and talk about how they got banned for no reason and they'd get rated into oblivion and all the SE fanboys would say SE doesn't ban people for no reason and they must have done something wrong.

Where are those fanboys now?

I'm sorry, but this isn't quite the same.

The VAST majority of those posts usually ended up with the poster admitting to doing something. So, yeaa, completely different.

The case here, is people who seem to be doing stuff similar to RMT, are being banned. It is very RMT-like behaviour, that is no doubt about that, the difference being, as far as we know, they don't sell the Gil.

RMT have long used a lot of the tactics people are being banned for, so it's not exactly unreasonable to see why people are being banned. The only way to attempt to get your account back, is to repeatedly contact Customer Services, and stress that you're not taking part in RMT.

It's absolutely awful that this is happening, but, it isn't for "no reason" it is exactly what it says on the tin, a lot of them, are being banned for doing things that RMT have done.

The thing is, I don't garden. I don't farm. I don't even really craft all that much. What I usually do is KSNM (Royale Ramble I like in particular), avatar runs (I solo them as RDM), and sell drops I get from end game like Dynamis (back when wootz were worth 200k+ or more and 100 bills). It's not like I'm pulling in massive amounts of money but I do pretty decent. I just get gil as needed so I'm not constantly farming and building up my supply. I just see something I want or need, do a couple KSNM runs or spend points in dynamis for an item and sell it, and then buy it. 95% of the time I just idle on 20-100k gil and that's pretty much it. I'll npc crap I get like colibri feathers and what not, but that's the extent of what I do to make gil. I.E. nothing because I usually don't need it or I don't see a point in farming when I don't have anything to spend it on.

But when I'm told I am banned for "irregular activities" and a GM even verifies I did nothing wrong in game and have 0 strikes against my account, and have paid off all of my fees every month, it begs the question why? Why was I banned and what constitutes as irregular activities? I sit in my mog house about 85% of the time just talking to people, is that irregular? I solo a LOT of crap as RDM/NIN, is that irregular? I hit a 1.2k Vorpal Blade as RDM/DRK against a Greater Colibri in a merit party, so I guess that's irregular because RDMs shouldn't do damage. But after speaking with SEVERAL customer service representatives and GMs, it has come to the conclusion that yeah, there was "no reason" I have been banned because nobody can explain why. Clean account in every respect possible got banned. Never a single GM complaint or call against me. I had my credit card stolen back in September of 08 and paid with a different card for 3 months, but that is about it. Ban worthy? That kind of thing happens. RMT related? I don't see how.

EDIT: Also I had all expansions complete, RDM WHM and PLD 75, COR 63 and DRK 65 which were my next 75s. I doubt RMT take the time to level non-gil making jobs, especially COR since it costs a stupid amount of money to level in itself, and get all expansions complete. A simple look at my gil supply shows I rarely make that much gil and am too poor to have bought gil because I never even had over 1 mil at any given time ever. I spent ~800k on an item once, but it took me 4 runs of Royale Ramble to do it, which took me 3 weeks to get the Kindred Seals for. ~250k coming in per week from the auction house at different times is hardly consistent with gil buying so that reason can't be used either.

not to excuess SE's behavior but havent the player base over the past few years kept hounding SE about doing more and more about RMT?

dont we all (the majority) uses the standard of gimp gear, subless, and no ls as a basis for rmt people? SE just took the same approach just different critria.

I remember when SE did absolutely nothing about RMT and we had to sit and watch RMT kill Ullikummi over and over with almost zero hope of ever getting the claim ourselves.

SE going the opposite extreme is much better in my books. I like being able to camp NMs and HNMs without having 30-50 known RMT gil farmers breathing down my neck. I hope SE keeps pushing RMT into corners.

Yes, there is certainly exceptions to what I say. I fully sympathize with your situation, and I sincerely hope you can get your account reinstated.

Just, for the majority of cases, it does seem to be aimed owards accounts that have a lot of cash flow from NPCs, or who continuously do a certain activity repeatedly over and over again.

I just want to stress, I don't agree with the bannings, at all, unless there is significant evidence in favour of RMT, or some other action that is against ToS. I just believe, that in the majority, it's not exactly without merit, but far from justified.

As I said, I sincerely hope you do get your account returned to you

Back then SE practically never banned anyone because they were horrendously afraid of banning anyone wrongly. They required proof so airtight that they almost never actually found it. Because of this, they were criticized for not doing anything at all about RMT. What changed this was the year that RMT figured out how to dupe gil and a few other little tricks over the winter. Inflation shot up to record highs and gil was being sold at the commonly quoted price of $5/mil, at the worst it went even lower than that. Common items such as Fire Crystals were going for over 9-10k/stack.

The situation changed a lot of SE's internal policies and resulted in the creation of the Special Task Force, a team of GMs who investigate and conduct regular bannings for usage of third party tools, RMT related activities and in game exploits and a few other oddball things. In order to regularly ban large ammounts of "RMT", "Hackers" and other people "using exploits", their strict requirement of proof has come down a lot.

Now the STF is using automated systems in an attempt to catch people performing patterns of behaviour. Some of these work well, such as automatically jailing anyone crossing a zone below the minimum benchmark time to cross it (flee hacking), some do not. The gardening bans are most likely automated, finding accounts that meet a patterned behaviour and banning them. This is why you see complaints of innocent gardeners being banned, and also why in 2005/2006 you saw complaints of flying tarus terrorizing the skies over... Sky zones. The standards for reasonable proof have been lowered, which means that some innocents will get banned, but making a profit from RMT is much harder than it was.

It's a case of giving the playerbase what they ask for and the playerbase complaining about the results. This happens pretty much any time they do anything, so I'm fairly certain that complaints are falling on deaf ears anymore. Really it's the natural consequence, I hope that they do manage to sort out the accounts of those banned in error though.

Funny, all these years I've never been banned. Guess I'm the only regular player without a bunch of Gardening mules? Somehow, the majority of us are not being banned. SE did this before and the RMT tells vanished and when they started to return do to the "Un-banning" of people it sure said lots to me.

I agree, whole heartedly.

Every day, I'm afraid I will log on and find my account locked by a soulless autometed program for no clearly explained reason and not get it back.

How much more bad publicity do you think SE will tolerate before they do something about it? XD

At this point I seriously doubt they will. It's as if SE is banning people for whatever reasons they feel like just for the lulz. I'm starting to seriously believe the theory that they are attempting to drive people away from FFXI.
