Visa and mastercard prepaid users.Follow

Ok first I would like to say, I am not trying to scam people into giving me information about ways an RMT can get around the new security features.

Basically here is a my situation. I currently do not have a debit or credit card on my bank account. But to get around this, I use prepaids issued by my bank. Currently, my bank does not support mastercard securecode, nor has it ever heard of it. I have 50 dollars left on my account, about 3 months worth, and I need to find a new card that is used by securecode or the verifiedbyvis. Because of my situation, I can not obtain a debit card through my bank. Short of finding a new bank, I am screwed.

My question, has anyone found a prepaid card service that uses securecode, or the visa version of that? I would like to be able to continue playing in 3 months, and I know that many others are in the SAME boat I am in, or are desperately searching for ways their best friend can still play.

Again I would like to say I AM NOT TROLLING OR AN RMT. I simply would like to be able to continue playing without having to go through drastic steps such as getting a new bank account just to continue playing. I am sure there are others searching for the same thing as well.

Has this been confirmed? If so I am going to buy one tomorrow. I have been told several supports it only to look into it and I either cant register with verified by visa, or securecode. Maybe I should call the POL cust service center and ask them if they take american express...

Well, Green Dot is issued by Columbus Bank and Trust which is a participating bank.

Hmm...interesting lead to follow, but I would need to check it. Greendot is a mastercard though so I would have to use their crappy online service to check.

I *have not* confirmed this though. I just know that Green Dot's issuing bank is supported.

Green Dot Visa that I have is a big resounding no on supporting the code for Visa. However they do have a Mastercard version as well. Which I do not know. Checked earlier today.

Ok I found a company that offers verified by visa. They are a virtual CC company so you do not have to get an actual credit card.

https://www.www-card.com/Screens/UsersManagement/HomePage.aspx

There is the company. Now if anyone can test this company on a 14 day trial... I cant seem to find one XD.

"Yes sir if you look on the back of your card you will see a 3 digit number..."

"No no not that. I mean a service you have to apply for. Input your card number and such."

"Umm I don't know what you talk about. If you look on the back of your card..."

At this point, I hung up. I wanted to cuss the lady out, but...I have done phone support before so I feel her pain. Right now I am at a loss and its about time for bed. If anyone has any new information regarding these retarded services which MANY banks have never heard of, please let me know. I will continue looking for more info online as well.

I had the exact same conversation. XD

www.miocard.com

Prepaid card that participates in the MasterCard® SecureCode program.

There are a couple of issues though. The link on their site to register for the program is busted, so I had to find the issuing bank and register there.

You can either go to www.SecureCode.com and search for The Bancorp Bank or since I've already done that, just copy and paste this link:

https://secure5.arcot.com/vpas/Bancorpppdmc_mc/enroll/preregstart.jsp?locale=en_US&bankid=1291

I found the card at a Dollar Store ( why couldn't I have been born rich instead of beautiful???). Anyway, the MasterCard® SecureCode registration works and it works for FFxi. Hope this helps.

I use a Walmart Money Card, which I think is kind of like a prepaid Visa that you can refill whenever. It's not a good card to use for anything unless you work for Walmart, which I do. (Otherwise there are lots of fees, but for me it's free, and works out perfect because it can never be overdraft.)

So far I haven't had any problems and I use it for both of my characters' accounts AND my girlfriend's, though I am constantly worried something is going to happen any time now.

#15REDACTED, Posted: Aug 01 2009 at 10:04 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Might I suggest finding a new bank for your online gaming? Just load your online payments to that account and get the debit card for it, most debit cards are backed by Visa or mastercard and if they are credit company backed you can get them verified usually for free. Most banks offer free checking accounts and free debit cards provided you can get past a credit check and you don't eat babies this should be a simple operation.

Credit Check? lol there isn't one Texas Based bank that requires a credit check. My problem is I live in a small town where the ONLY bank is the one inside a walmart here. I literally have to drive over 50 miles to get to another bank.

I finally switched my account to prepaid after being double-billed by SE. Of course, two weeks later they say no more. I'm sure they will be thrilled to know they can once again double bill me at will.

I say, no thanks.

I'm done. If they won't take my prepaid card, I'm not coming back.

Right now I don't have an active content ID due to PC issues but I can still log into PoL on my prepaid card. Not sure if that means my card is ok to go or not but given all that is going on lately, I'll just assume not.

This thread just annoys me SO much. People needing to find new banks just to play just pisses me off. This is probably because when my Visa expires, I have to go find a new card since both mine don't qualify.

I can't believe even Pikko can now be counted amongst the hundreds of players with this same problem. Guess SE isn't taking Hawaii into account either. I bet there will be people from Alaska withb this same problem, I know of a few people in Puerto Rico having this very same problem. Wonder how things are going in Mexico or anywhere else people are using a US account to play and don't have the advantage of having a US bank to obtain a verifiable credit card from.

OK from everything I have read, you have to have a visa card to be able to use www-card. The way www-card works, is you transfer funds from a real card you can hold in your hand, to a virtual card that doesn't actually exist except on computer records.

This card IS VBV available, and only requires a one time fee to activate. I think about 10-15 dollars. It is good for 1 year and 1 year only.

I have not tested one of these out yet, since I have a mastercard. In a day or two, I will get a greendot visa and put like 40 on there. Then I will transfer the money to this WWW-card and try it out for 14 day free trial account. If it works, and I am able to play, I will let you all know it. And if it does work, what I will do is calculate exactly how much it will be for a years worth of ffxi, and put that much+30 on there so that I will not have to touch the account info again for a whole year. (+30 is for shantotto ascension and in case I need a new sec token)

I'm using an Ace All-access Netspend MasterCard, issued by Inter National Bank. While it shows up in the securecode database, it rejects my credit card #. That's pretty depressing, as I've been using a Netspend MasterCard since I started FFXI in 2004, and pay all my other online bills and order computer parts with the same card. Guess I'm going to go through my mom's bank and just get a debit card.

Also, with my Netspend card, I've had a problem where EVERY month I have to re-input my info to pay my FFXI bill, regardless of whether I had the money on the card before the billing date or not. Giant PITA having to redo my content ID's every damn month. Only twice ever has it gone through on its own, and it double charged me each time (for the previous month and the next month). Also, sometimes I'll have my other account up, and I have to wait at least 24 hours between reactivating my main account before it'll take the card number again for my other account. SE's billing system is pretty weird about that, at least with the Netspend card.

I can understand why SE is doing this, it's going to kick fraud right in the ***, and literally cut the throats of the RMT business. It's irritating, yes, but in the long run I think we're going to see MUCH less RMT. I feel sorry for the poor bastards working for the POL Information Call Center over the next week, as I feel sorry for the poor souls that will spend 2 hours on hold. But hey it's alright, SE has already apologized for any inconvenience that has been caused!

Guess I'm taking a week or so off. Good luck yall.

it pisses me off too. What SE probably didn't realize is that this will most likely ***** all the NA importers in SG and EU players since a lot of the foreign banks don't do this Verify by Visa/Securecode and they're flagged as NA account. :/

I rarely post on these forums but this is my 2 cents from my own personal experience...

Just today i went through all this rigamarole to get my account reactivated and came up against this new -retarded- secure pay. I tried going to the website first and registering my pay as you go wal-mart visa card and it said it was not supported. So i said ***** it and went on with the updating my card thing, went to their verification website and just clicked next button and got the "your card has been verified please continue with play online registration" or whatever it says. thats my grain of salt, maybe it will help you (maybe you dont actually NEED the 3-d secure thing?)
