Not sure why OP is rated default...it kinda blocks this thread from half the peoples view that have default filtered out, and this is an important subject.
I also had the same thing happen to me. My card that I normally pay for SE for has more than enough cash on it, but was declined this month (wtf?). I have two debit cards from two different banks, both which are supported by Mastercard's whatever the hell secure system. So I signed them both up for the 3d-secure stuff, and went on to pay my unpaid fees. I tried using my alternate card at first, but even though I have it registered for the 3d-secure, I am being told that it is not supported by 3d-secure. Oh, and its not SE's fault, I should "Contact my bank".
Then I used my regular card, and was able to make it through the credit card registration screen. However, after that screen, you have to launch your web browser (which is where I'm assuming PS2 users are able to skip by without authentication) and authenticate your card on SE's website. Yes, not only do you have to register it on Mastercard's site, which SE conveniently takes no responsibility for, but then you also have to authenticate it AGAIN. I put in all the information SE's site wanted (which include a pass code that I created), and am told that SE is unable to authenticate my card, and I should "Contact my bank".
So now I'm just **** out of luck, and had to create a free trial account so that I could tell my CoP static what happened. And SE takes not responsibility for any of it.
I really dont see where SE gets off not thinking any of this is their fault, and that our bank can fix anything. I know tomorrow when I call my bank, they will say nothing is wrong, I'll call SE, they will tell me to contact my bank, and after I tell them I have, they will tell me to get a different credit card. Why cant they just accept some responsibility for their ***** ups? It is ridiculous.
