is there a site I can check that gives the current weather or all zones plus the forecasts for the next few game days (just like the ingame npcs do) so you can check the weather without actually having to log in game or run to every weather forecast npc to check the weather for certain zones

The in game weather patterns are unpredictable so there is no way to put that on a web site. They run on a hidden formula that nobody will ever know, so it's impossible to predict what's coming next until the day changes and the forecast npc says "this is what you have a chance to see". There are web sites that predict the current vanadiel TIME, but that's an entirely different beast which runs on a simple and predictable math scale.

There are exactly 25 vanadiel days for every 24 real life hours, so one vanadiel day is exactly 57 minutes 36 seconds long. Every JP midnight the vanadiel clock will change the day to 0:00 at the exact moment the JP midnight clock changes the hour to a new day.

Coupling these two factors, creating a simple time conversion program to predict in game time is easy. Also since the moon phases have a predictable pattern that can be added as well (new moon --> waxing crescent --> first quarter moon --> waxing gibbous --> full moon etc etc), and each moon phase always has the same % (full moon is 90%, 93%, 95%, 98%, 100%, 98% and 95%). Because of this making a time conversion program like Illokyist's is very easy. However creating a web site to predict the vanadiel weather in each zone is impossible because THOSE formulas are hidden and will never be known.

oh well I wasnt so much thinking as a program that "predicted" the weather more like something that could look ingame and update the site with the current weather (kinda like how ffxiah can tell you what son the ah and whats not without you having to login to check your sales).

By the way is it just me or is heat weather just that darn rare? youd think a desert (altepa) would be in that state 50% of the time lol

Smiley: lol Ahh yes hehe, I understand your frustration in the carbuncle ruby quest. I've found that weather patterns are just really erratic. A good way to go about this is to put a mule (if possible) by the weather forecasting npc and just log in/out randomly and check upcoming days and go from there while doing other stuff meanwhile (this is what I did when camping kreutzeuit .. and a few of the earth weather altepa NMs as well). Alternately sending /tells to someone in the zone and politely asking if they would check the npc for you is another way.

I've randomly seen fire weather in Meriphitaud Mountains when doing ballista, and in the Jungles when running to norg, and yes Valkurm Dunes too. There are a lot of options so relying on just one zone isn't necessary. You can have friends check a bunch of different npcs and see what they say. Either way, it's just a waiting game. Eventually you'll randomly zone into an area and the weather effect will be up. It's always funny when IT comes to YOU rather than visa versa (and that does happen).

Either way, good luck with your carby. The summoner job is a pretty fun one, I hope you enjoy it.

Vana'diel had seasons, you'll have much better luck getting fire weather in the summer months (7-9). Right now its winter, it'll be summer in about 4 days.

I'll attest to this. It's true, Vanadiel DOES have seasons. I've noticed the Batallia downs Ice weather in December January and February a lot, but never noticed it in months like June July and etc (I've seen Batallia downs Fire weather in August). This coming Monday will see the start of July around noon ish Eastern time, but you can probably find it earlier. Either way, the vanadiel month is currently February, so waiting a few real life days will greatly enhance the frequency of fire weather sightings in all the zones it can pop in.

This is actually very easy if you have a whm friend. I got all the weathers in about 20 minutes just tele'ing between the different crystals. All can be had fairly quickly.

And like above poster said, I actually got fire teleporting to the yhoat crystal.

Hi Duo!

Good to see you're still around. If you're still on Alex and looking for a shell sometime, I have ressurected the VKLS. Audios!
