Highest Populated ServerFollow

Hi there,

I played this game when it first came out a very long time ago for about a year and have forgotten most things about it.

My question is which server should I join to have the most chance of running into other new players?

I'd love to get back into it again before FF14 launches to prepare myself once again for the FF universe.

Conversely, if anyone would like someone to play a lower level character with then please post in this thread, i'm a stay at home Dad with alot of time on my hands and would love the company.

Thank you and I look forward to your replies

I think the highest populated server is still locked down...

Highest population servers are Odin and Bahamut. However, you cannot create a new character on them because, well, they're overpopulated.

The other servers are all more or less equal, within 1000 active characters of each other for the most part.

I beg to differ, I'm on bahamut, and although I don't know how other servers populations are, ours is low.

I have been meaning to ask because ever since ours got locked and people were given free server transfers it has gradually gotten worse and worse.

A search today at 4pm pat showed 840 people on. I have been thinking of moving but I was born and raised here and leaving only makes it worse for bahamut. Anyone have any idea when se will say enough is enoughand really open it? Maybe they know better and still have it Closed for a reason.

4PM PAT?

10 EST, primetime, Seraph has 1182 people on.

Odin, I know, has a largely JP population. It could be the same with Bahamut.

I forgot to mention, i've got the EU version.

Does this have a bearing on any decision?

So, you all think they're all balanced?

No server to pick then...

Which version of the game you have does not make a difference. As far as people go, it mostly depends on when you log on. If you're logging on during non-peak times, then you won't find many people. For the most part and as far as new-ish players are concerned, all of the servers are pretty much equal.

The best thing you can do is find someone on these forums that will offer you a linkshell that will have people during your play time and then start on that server.

Grrr, was posting on new my touch phone, hate that keyboard. I meant to say PST, 4pm pst, and there is a pretty decent amount of NA players, its just that its very very quiet.

When does SE decide to re open servers? When pop is down? Never? Frustrating when 800 people are on, very slow, hurts the sales of expensively crafted items, as well as slows down a lot of things.

I'll say this, a few months back, there was a lot more nyzul run shouts, as well as non stop isnm shouts. Now that could be due to more ppl staticing up and doing it that way, but who knows, 800 people is low imo. Will they ever re open it?

For the OP

Ausura is where to go. i created a toon here a few weeks ago and i run into many new people to play with.

For the rest of you

Sometimes i wonder about people who post in forums..The OP is asking for a server to play in but all that responded tell him about a couple servers that do not take new players, so why talk about it?

There is a response about how many people on earth

There is a link for stats of 5-7 years ago of populations

There is a response where a few people talk about time

I been re-reading this forums and people are leaving the game, people are worried that their game will be shut down and taken from them. Someone comes along and is looking to start anew and the only thing people can reply with is jibberish that has nothing to do with the question. This is the exact reason good games die.

The reason we told him about the two servers he can't log into was because he assumed that the highest population servers would be the best place to start.

They're not because 1. You can't start there and 2. All the other servers REALLY aren't that far behind.

The old days when the game auto-sorted you into certain servers actually did balance out the populations fairly well. It was only after they introduced server transfers and half the JP population moved to Odin that we had problems.

So, to answer the OP's question, there are 29 servers that will likely suit your needs. Go through the FFXI server forums and look for linkshells that are advertised that run in your times.

Welcome to Earth. Please choose a Faction.

I read a post somewhere that said Phoenix had the most active characters and isn't locked.

ETA: oh look at that, it's the thread right under this one.

The RMT is freakin' horrible in that game, and the newbs are just asking to be plowed over.

In their defense there's no wiki yet, so it's not like they can do their research before jumping in. The playerbase isn't too friendly either.

Of course, there's also the various player groups that are trying to figure out the route the storyline is gonna take, and that one sect that says there is no storyline at all. I like to think that there is a storyline, but there's no point trying to figure out where it'll head since only the developers know Smiley: dubious
