FFXI Update Problem?Follow

Okay, So I have wireless internet out in the country and the connection sometimes disconnect. I just recently try to come back to FFXI....until I got to the update screen. I get disconnected during the hour long patch and I have to re-update it. The closest I got to completing it was 82%, but I lost connection and got kicked out again. Is there any possible way to save the update that has already been finished so I won't keep having to start at 0%?

You don't have to start over. If your update downloads say 400 files, those 400 files will not have to be downloaded again. Your progress is saved.

But remember there's a different between the Check File phase, Download File phase, and Install File phase.

This is correct, Checking the files is going to take the same amount of time everytime you have to do it but downloading saves your progress. If you have 20000 to download, and you get 10000 and then disconnect, you'll find you have 10000 to download the next time you try to Play the game. Also, since you seem to have trouble updating you may want to save the updated files in your ROM and Sound folders inside the FFXI folder. You can save those files to minimize the amount of updating you need to do in the future if you ever have to reinstall FFXI. An install plus update can take 3+ hours, but if you have them saved it can takes as little as 15 minutes.

I'm having a similar problem, it wont even download the first file though (patch.txt) it gets to about 4% completed of that file, then pol errors me with disconnection. Is there anyway anyone can upload the actual ffxi files to a ftp server or something so that i can just download them that way, as my normal downloads actually work. (I'm running EU version)

maybe try changing the channel on your wireless connection, try and find a more stable one :P but in my experience wireless internet isnt great at the best of times tbh, if theres anyway for you to just plug the thing straight into your router i highly recommend doing that cause the patch will take forever :P

Ahhh yes. You guys are correct. It took less time to update it since I've updated most of it. It took about 20 minutes to complete the update after I've failed 5+ times.
