Wonder if this is where the new rings come from?
given the names of the rings, that makes sense.
(shameless wiki summarizing)
Yilbegan:
Zilant Ring:
Like Yilbegan, a type of dragon-esque creature. Yilbegan is Siberian, Zilant is Slavic, both are Russian)
Orcus:
Corneus Ring:
only thing I can find for Corneus is a type of freshwater snail, Planorbarius corneus, or Great Ramshorn. Given that Orcus is the origin of daemons, and daemons, demons, and orcs, are all typically represented as having horns, I guess. ??
Verthandi:
Note: That's a voiced "th", for those who are curious, like in that or those Galdr Ring
An Old Norse word for a spell or incantation
Veela Ring:
a Veela is the Slavic version of a Nymph
This could be either or both; Verthandi is basically part of the Norse version of the "Fates". Unless Verthandi is a different NM, and the fairy NM has a different name, meaning that there's a 7th NM hiding in the .dats somewhere, this is where the Voidwalker <-> rings theory gets botched up
Lord Ruthven:
Strigoi Ring:
Romanian, Troubled spirits of the dead, which are generally associated with zombies and vampires
Blobdingnag:
Brobdingnag, the subject of the second part of Johnathan Swift's novel, Gulliver's Travels, is a land full of proportionally giant life. (Giant Clot. Horrible pun, SE, just horrible. Krabkatoa is funny, but this is just groan-worthy)
Blobnag Ring:
Blobding
nag Krabkatoa:
Karka Ring:
Karka is Sanskrit for "lobster" or "crab", which had some role in naming Krakatoa.
Also, I would like to state now; as awesome as Krabkatoa is, his father, Bubbly Bernie is still more amazing.
