I hope FFXIV will have better customer careFollow

This morning, I log-out and log back in after breakfast, hit play and FFXI says "No Content ID"! Heart races a little. Check www.playonline.com to see if there's a SNAFU but no, it says the servers are UP.

I then check playonline mail to see if SE sent me something: Nothing. Go into Membership information, content ID: None, except the extensions.

So without prior notice or any warning, my content IDs disappeared. Interesting. I'm on PS2, un-guessable password, I use a security token (for the satchel, Yeah!) and have never shared my account information, so I can't possibly have been hacked/cracked/jacked.

This is the beginning of a month so my thoughts go to billing; but by credit card is valid and in the black.

I try the "Review Content IDs" but that tells me I have none.

Finally after 10 minutes of navigating the horribly designed support menus I find the list of my IDs which (Service history, [Next]), yes, have been canceled 3 days ago. No reason given of course.

On a lark, I re-enter my payment information with the exact same data that was there.

Finally I try to re-activate my content IDs and lo and behold, I am now back in the game.

I have to say, frankly, square-enix has a lot to learn about customer care and feedback. They could have sent me a note telling me of the cancellation and the reason. Seems there isn't one, and that's worrisome.

Did your credit card expire? Pretty sure all your content ids get deactivated if your billing info lapses.

Edit: Clearly, I didn't read the whole post.

Once or twice, I've logged in to the same problem. Oddly, when I logged out/back in, the content ID's were there again. No idea what caused it. Not sure if what you had was the same problem, but I'd definitely be leery about reactivating them. Who knows what weird billing problem that could cause.

There may have been a technical problem with your bank at the time of payment. If theres any problem when trying to process payment your IDs are automaticly de-activated. Has happend to me a few times over the years if my banks been funny at this time of the month.

I agree trying to navigate PoL is a ***** and i can never remember how im supposed to get them up and running again.

Pretty much this.

I've seen a message saying something like "No Content IDs are Linked to this Account", but I just continue on to log into FFXI and I still have my content IDs.

Are you serious? It's the same company!!!! FFXIV's customer care will be exactly the same as FFXI's, both made by Square-Enix, is that so hard to comprehend?

Read and heard this so many times, people wrongly banned, wrongly overcharged etc. People that quit the game in disgust over customer service and they say these kinds of things.

As above, it's the exact same company with the exact same staff on the exact same telephone number you ring. It will be exactly the same in every way, aka crap.

With this in mind, I pretty much expect every FFXIV update to have atleast one issue that won't be fixed years after patch day. We already know what to expect- three months will not make a difference.

FFXI has terrible customer care, first of all it's only Monday to Friday, and really short working hours. Then they seem to have 10 different departments, passing the buck on who can do what, then most of the time they tell you it's not something they can do. They seem to have very limited options when it comes to finding where your account went. The website is horrible when it comes to finding a suitable topic for your issue, the chat support option is very well hidden, they probably don't want everybody to bug them over chat, since they have 1 freaking phone number, which is long-distance call for 95% of the FFXI population (my friend ended up with $60 in long-distance just to get his password reset after a long break). The billing kinda sucks too, I don't like the fact that they charge you a full month even if you've only played 2-3 days at the end of the month. Don't even reactivate your account at the end of the month, it's better just to wait an extra week and get more out of your subscription.

This happened to my stepdaughter yesterday. The day before, we were running through CoP, then she goes to login yesterday morning, no active content IDs.

Looks like someone made a boo boo...

The nice thing about being a pessimist is that even if you're wrong, you've still been pleasantly surprised!

At least, that's what I tell myself when, no matter how low I set my expectations, someone still manages to find a way to fall short of them.

I think you have it the other way around; optimists don't make any assumptions about other people, good or bad, so they take life as it comes and get their happiness from themselves. It is pessimists that presume someone is good or bad and set themselves up for disappointment or shock. What is a low bar for you may still be out of touch with reality. Perhaps that need to judge should be redirected at yourself; you should be able to meet your own standards and may even surprise yourself sometimes, it's the only way someone won't let you down.

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result"

Seriously, I doubt anything will change CS wise, not unless they hand their online operations to someone that has half a brain. Due to unexpected money problems my account with SE and NC Soft was suspended. Getting Aion back was a simple matter of updating CC info. Not so easy with SE. Could have avoided the problem if it were not for SE's convoluted billing system. After updating my card. (had to use same card thanks to their Verified by Visa nonsense. and reactivating my character ids, come to find out that even the mail filter has a content ID that needed reactivation. Dang, can't think of any game company that is managed as poorly as SE

No kidding when my character got stuck in an endless CS that wouldn't let me get through it each time I logged on you know what they did?

All the support told me they couldn't help me and I needed to post a message on the teh support web side. What makes this so horrible is each time I did they sent me an email giving the same advice.

Told to contact post support question online.
Posted report
Almost a day later was told in a support email post support question online at the same site I got the reply from.

A day later was again told post support question online. (looping emails)

This isn't support it's looping run around support. The only thing guaranteed is you'll get an email response telling you to contact support. They still haven't responded to the issues. I had to use alternate methods outside my normal scope to get the character unlocked.
