Easy travel in AbysseaFollow

I recently came back to FFXI and bought the first Abyssea add-on. I have read up a little on the wiki about it and have also read here on the forums about travel within Abyssea.

My question is with everyone setting their HPs in Port Jeuno how is it that it makes travel so easy? I understand you can pay cruor to warp to Abyssea, but how would one get to their home nation quick for access to teleports to outposts? Any other useful travel tips would be welcome also.

Abyssea-Attohwa's maw is 100 yalms from the Buburimu outpost.

Abyssea-Vunkerl's maw is 100 yalms from the Jugner outpost.

Abyssea- La Theine's maw is a short hike and a zone from the West Ronfaure outpost.

Abyssea-Ulegerand's maw is about 150 yalms from the Xarcabard outpost.
#3REDACTED, Posted: Feb 20 2011 at 12:33 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's easy for people who only do Abyssea. For the other people who wish to enjoy the game for all it's worth because they haven't whored their lives out to it for the past 9 years(or 6 like me) they can either do FoV so they can use any number of convenient manual spots to port to home nation and then use outposts, or go through whitegate from Upper Jeuno and use the warp taru to get back to home nation, or just use an airship. There's also various teleport nation items in the game made through synergy or from events.

There is a Field Manual not very far from the Port Jeuno exit, if you have a large amount of Tabs you can warp to your home nation from there. Abyssea-Altepa maw is a short walk from Bastok. There is also the Whitegate warp NPC in Upper Jeuno (and Warp Taru in Whitegate).

I have yet to figure out which is faster. Repatriate from book outside of Port Jeuno, or abyssea LaTheine and use book right by the maw.

I prefer to set my HP in Upper Jeuno or Ru'Lude so that I can quickly grab a scroll of instant warp every time I come home.

Catwho said it best. Jeuno, like Whitegate was a few years ago, is pretty much a hub where you can make it to practically anywhere in Vana'diel in just a few minutes.

I generally use cruor warp to Chasm and take the OP in Buburimu. Keeping HP in Sandy and warping through WG is either too stressful on IS/gil for silver coins or too inconsistent if you're doing the free warp imo.

I believe maw warp to Attohwa and then running to the OP is actually even faster than if you were to start at the PJ zone line. It's very close to the OP in bubu.

We'll see how it changes in the next major update.

Ah's will all be linked.
Abyssea Warp NPC's will be added to Nations as 'other places'

Even with the next update adding Abyssea NPCs to other areas, I'd imagine PJ will still be the major hub, as it's the most convenient spot to shout for help / parties / etc.

Oh, lol, ding 100 posts :D

How many players don't /sh or join PUGs much? I hardly ever do.
If they add joachim and horst clones to each nation... then my home nation will be the best option for the most quick travel.

however, plenty of players will hp somewhere else, just for the change of scenery, lack of crowds, nostolgia or whatever.

There will still need to be places to shout, certainly. (global chat channel argument rehash... no thanx)
but many players will prefer to move out. I know I will.

I hope SE don't add abyssea ports to home nations becasue I like to be able to /sh and fill spots quickly in PJ. Its my personal opinion of course, but I can get anywhere stupidly quick form PJ alone, and if I was a person with lag issues i'd just chill in Upper Jeuno.

PJ is a small zone, with world access. Its also nice that Jeuno has become the hub of business once again after 4-5 years in WG where getting about wasn't as easy as it is today. Respect to PJ!.

they already said that they are planning to during the large version update. Home nations.. and 'other' places....

people wills till congregate to specific zones for shouts anyway. the players who wont' be there... won't be there because they are not interested or busy doing something else.

Jeuno has the Christmas jingle bells, which, in conjunction with the Coca-cola ads, indicates the true beginning and end of the festive season.

Can gil-warp to Whitegate if you need to (most people's IS seems to be running low to go in reverse these days), or cruor warp to Attowha and run to Booby Peninsula outpost to repatriate/outpost anywhere else... just works for what I do in-game.

I really wish they'd make ease of exploration permanent. It's so nice to be able to warp from Selbina to Mhaura to Windurst and back.

Hi

I am in a similar situation to you. I took a break from the game about a month after the first
Abyssea expansion came out. I returned about 2 months ago. Here is another option for getting
from Port Jeuno to an outpost:

- change sub to /whm
- tele to dem (can also use a teleport ring from AH if you dont have /whm)
- repatriate using FOV book near the tele crystal
- This puts you right at OP warp NPC in your home nation
- very short run to MH to change subjob if you need to

I have my HP in port jeuno, and repatriate to Bastok mines. This is
quite a quick way of getting around, and also saves you around 200 cruor.
If you only just got Abyssea then this might be the best way to travel until
you build up some Cruor. I do not have millions of cruor saved up yet, but
I do have over 30k in FOV tabs still, so will rather burn through those instead
of Cruor - save the Cruor for brews ^^

Granted, before WG Jeuno was a "hub" because you could airship around, but was mainly talking about how from WG you could A) warp around AU areas, B) warp directly to home nation and OP from there, or C) warp directly to Jeuno. WG literally made almost every zone in the game minutes away.

I remember what Jeuno was like before ToAU, and while it was a hub of activity, WG set the standard for a hub of travel.

Oh I agree, but I was just making a quasi funny. What I would really love to see in J is a Ducal OP warp guy. 4 new NPC's and just put them next to the signet guys. Not that Book>HN is hard or long. Would be much simpler to OP warp right from port J. Then again if they add horst/joachim to home nations (maybe WG too) then there won't be any reason to go to J anymore again.

Mark my words if Aby warps were based in Selbina/Muhara people would be setting their HP's there.
