The hat is under Optional Services -> Redeem Bonus Code.

For me it was "Reward Registration Code" in the POL Viewer; might be a regional quirk.

Edit: Abyssea took about 20-30 minutes to kick in after purchase; I got the Destroyer Beret right away.

Edit #2: I was also able to get a Prishe Statue in the Treasure Coffer by Joachim in Port Jeuno. Wasn't expecting that...

Abyssea is downloaded when you update the game.

If you're really good with following directions and are computer savvy, here's a link to all the updates that you can download and then install yourself instead of going through POL. In the end it's your choice, but I've been using it ever since the guy started the post.

Just bought the collection myself today but couldn't find my ultimate 2010 install disc so unfortunately I have to download the game from steam, on a 1mb/s connection it's taking about 2 hours or less. Updates I'm sure would be longer if I don't use the above mentioned link. See you in Vanadiel!

I'm a wanna-be multi-boxer just getting back into the game- Direct2Drive is giving me "FINAL FANTASY XI Ultimate Collection Abyssea Edition was removed from your cart due to : Previously purchased." Of course I need multiple purchases/downloads in order to get multiple serial keys.

I've open a ticket with their support, but no answer yet. Anyone else gotten this issue/resolved it?

You mean we have to deal with third-parties, we can't buy off SE itself? :( I have no idea who gameplanet are, and find their saying

"Ultra-fast download
Secure Payment
100% Legal"

Kind of concerning, like why would they feel the need to say that, something that RMT often say to entice you to deal with them.

I figured this would be the case, I do wonder what will happen if I need to re-download the files in the future, but I figure I can always redownload the files I purchased on my main/actual email, then keep careful records of the three separate Serial Keys, Buddy Pass Codes and Bonus Item Codes.

A number of people have that problem. You can buy the PC version and use the codes to upgrade on the 360. If your FFXI is already current then there is nothing additional to download.

...and sold. The only DLC I bothered to overspend on was ACP, so this gives me all five of the rest for the price of one and I get the silly little hat some people have been crying about.

I re-activated my acct last month, had only up to WotG, none of the expansions. So I was glad to buy the Abyssea package from Steam.
I've had nothing but problems with it. I got into POL, downloaded all the updates, then got hit with a POL-5312 error.

Had to delete it all, then follow Steam's instructions to delete the "ffxi" directory which was apparently not uninstalled correctly.

Re-installed it all, then couldn't get into PoL since my password didn't work. Called SE and got a new password - which doesn't work either. So I have to call them again, which I don't have the time for, am thinking there's an issue with the authenticator now. I haven't gotten as far as downloading all the updates this time around, and I know..know I'm going to get hit with the POL-5312 again.

When... when will SE get rid of this immensely archaic thing known as POL, and streamline the log-in for FFXI?

My question has been vaguely answered in this thread but not clearly enough for me to continue without asking myself.

My current account is the 09 Ultimate Collection, if i bought this i could use the code to upgrade my account as well as get the hat on my current character correct?

Also will i have to uninstall > reinstall the game or should i just be able to use the codes, update, and be good to go?

If you play on the pc, you already have the files for abyssea on your computer. All you gotta do is buy the Collection, register the code under expanded services, and when you log in you should be able to access abyssea right away.
