They did this. It's called FFXIV. It works like crap.

Were you dropped on your head as a child? FFXIV looks pretty, that's about it. The classes are generic and crappy, the harvesting system obtuse and far too time consuming, crafting is horrid, and they actually decided to not have an Auction House to "make the game harder."
It's a travesty of bad design choice after bad design choice.
