Haven't they said they've posted the "thrilling" conclusion to Logwatch like, 5 or 6 times already?

They put the update in a VW drop pool. It's going to take another 527 attempts before we get it. ITMT: Wood for everyone.

No problem with having a lot of wood so long as you know what to do with it.:P

Also, ax, I think they post it once for when they add it to the test server then again for when they are officially going to add it the next version update.

That sounds about right.

I can't wait for the amazing conclusion to the riveting Voidwatch storyline.

Craptastic.

First update note is just going to be a BCNM area exactly the same as the Shinryu area. Won't be an explorable zone, just a small 40-50 distance BCNM size zone lol.

Second update was news for the sake of news, that should be crap posted on at the end of the update notes on update day.

I like how they are finally learning that their updates are so crappy it's better to hide them from the test server at least.

Given the nature of items you can currently store, you would only be able to store a single seal/+2 item.

Maybe they're thinking of people (I have a few friends that do this!) who use that gear for..dum de dum dum..low level gear. So if they got a lot of low jobs, they'd have it out a lot.

Not sure with the holiday guy what they're thinking.

In all seriousness though, given the look of the zone, I have a feeling that the one Crystal Wyrm that had been found in the .dat files will end up being the final Notorious Monster and the overall culprit behind the incursion of the Voidwatch mobs. Given his design (specifically the red eye in the center of its chest) though I'm concerned that it's going to be another Shinryu-esque situation, except replace Promathia with Proto-Omega and have a situation where its mutated from being exposed to or merging with something else (maybe a Proto-Ultima and Proto-Omega merging?).

Even though the drop rates have for the most part been horrible for me (though I know it's been kinder to me than most), I've actually somewhat enjoyed Voidwatch, so it's not something I'm super excited to see end. Even if it's a very loose semblance of a story, I'll follow any story given for an event or battle system with interest if there is one.

not to go all negative nancy on you vlor, but you must strive to find any good in the story of voidwatch.

Act 1
Oh my god monsters are coming across the plannar rift into both present and past vanadiel

Act 2
Use your collection of logs to NPC to buy better items in order to defeat the next wave of rift monsters.

Act 3
The end.

There is no real story here, heck its a dragged on version of VNM's however instead of farming the pop items (via killing a lot of mobs to change abyssites) we wait a day or buy void dust and spam the living sh*t out of battle content.

There is no progressive element, there is no real reason to do it, other than its easier and more productive then Logging is. Not to mellow on what you took from it, (i respect that you found good where I did not) but I found none, just like abyssea there was no real story other than OMG these people are bad beat them!!!!!

Which is one of the reasons I never really got into VW, at least in storyless Abyssea I can get sh*t accomplished realistically and feel like a god while doing it.

Personally I really enjoy Voidwatch's battle system. I think it's the most creative they've been since assaults really. Visions had a good run with Nms and monster clusters not appearing until the servers met a certain condition. But they quickly abandon that concept.

The whole staggering system with multiple staggers to a wide variety of jobs keeps everyone busy(if that is the main goal) while most higher tiered mobs could level anyone in ranged if they felt like it rather quickly adds a necessary level of tension.

Maybe becuase I don't spam it as much it doesn't get old for me but I sincerely enjoy it. The story, not much is to be had but I heard when you get access to the Jueno path that cut scene full of wtf.

I didn't even finish any of the first nations ones, have never done a zilart or Jeuno fight. Am on 1/4 sandy, and 1/4 windy (think 3.4 bastok i dunno).

Having done the limited ones I have done, it is just not enjoyable. Spam spam spam, spam spam spam, hope i don't die, spam spam spam, oh look a log and some ore. Items>Log>drop, Items>Ore>drop. "LETS DO IT AGAIN!!!!".

Maybe I am just pessimistic, maybe it does get more enjoyable, but as a BLM spaming t1-4 spells again and again is not fun, I want to bring down the thunder, (or blizzard =D) as a RDM requiring that I dump all my merit spells just so I can get the procs I need is not fun or enjoyable, merits that took me a long time to finalize at the 75 cap (that have not be changed since) dumped so I can get 1 of each spell so I can feel useful 5% of the time.

Its the same gripe I had with abyssea, but on a larger scale. While it is great that the system promotes job diversity, it does it in a bogus way. There is no structure to a fight, it is spam sh*t before you get one shot, which can occur at anytime so spam sh*t faster. It is the very same Zerg mentality SE tried to eliminate with haste cap adjustments, and the DRK soul Eater nerfs. Instead they just implement a system that forces you to either spam spam spam, or you die die die. Not that entertaining.

Glad I can buy most of the sh*t on the AH, otherwise Id be really gimp for Legion.

This is the story behind every fantasy RPG ever made. At least all the Japanese ones.

That being said, they could at least give the semblance of a back story. Something other then "we're introducing these fights, you can do them immediately, but don't expect much loot, we don't want you guys getting stuff too fast". I'll be happy when it's finished and we can move on to different content, they abused that stuff entirety too much. I'm hoping for a remake of Limbus / Salvage, wanting AF +2 and hopefully Homam / Nashira being upgraded. Yeah it's sad when the only thing you can look forward to in an MMO is rehashed old content.

Yeah, you've limited yourself to the not fun ones.

I actually love Voidwatch. Made about 10M, got some fantastic drops and I barely have to play to do it (just AFK and check for shouts every 10 minutes or so while being productive with other non-game tasks).

However, you are spot on in your earlier post about the story. Even higher Tiers, it is basically:

Act 1: Some monsters are coming out of the planar rift
Act 2: They are getting worse and stronger
Act 3: In other places now
Act 4: Still strong in other places
Act 5: More NPC storyline characters join in the cut scences to tell you it's getting worse, adventurer!

As far as different diversity, Voidwatch and Abyssea are still light years ahead of level 75 game content in terms of skill required and fun factor. At least more than 4 jobs besides level 75 game (pld, blm, whm, rdm OR brd+dd zerg) get to be involved since the procs potentially are completely unique to a dozen different jobs.

I'll be happy for different content too instead of rehased versions of every prior endgame event. Haven't we had enough +2 content already with Dynamis, Tatter Abjuration+2 gear, and now Nyzul Isle?

Some unique stuff would be good instead of barfed up versions of every prior event.

No you are confusing plot with story. The plot is something bad happened, someone is being bad, and you and your friends are the heroes.

The story to get from A to B is the meat, and there is no meat in Void Watch, or Abyssea either for that matter.

The meat was learning about the Zilart
The meat was learning about the Darkness
The meat was saving an Empire

(I admittedly stopped doing WoTG after the dragon fight, because frankly spreading it over 3 years with no real new worthwhile content was introduced, no Skys, no Seas, no Salvages. No enjoyable content with a sense of adventure, Fighting Gods, and Jailers of emotion just sounds bad ass.

Hell even Dynamis had a side story line in relation to the main nation story lines.

This is evidenced in virtually every RPG out there. There has been no story really since WoTG, and frankly it is pathetic, WoTG made me quit the game, Abyssea kind of brought me back in little weekly spurts, but really where is the meat to the game. On top of that the epic feeling of killing baddies isn't even present. Either no attacking until procs are done, or spam the piss out of sh*t as fast as you can, while spaming temp items in a vain attempt to zerg a boss before he 1 shots everyone.

Bad content design meets lack of story, essentially we are now just killing baddies because they are bad.

SE has no story to give us, (probably because they imagined the game would die off with 14, but that failed) they are just feeding us plot, no epic adventure, no heroic reason. Just spam spam spam and die die die, or the land of farting rainbows, where you can get anything you want with little effort. It is kind of sad, but tbh they haven't really had a story since ToAU, WoTG may have been good (i don't know nor care anymore) but taking so long to conclude was a disaster.

Eh... I just want meat again, who really enjoys a burger without meat and only the bun. I sure don't.

I’d like to share some information about the weakness system for the final chapter of Voidwatch.

For battles of the final chapter, the weakness system and loot (items) will be completely separated.

We’ve decided to make it so that the weakness system’s goal is to give an advantage in the battle. With this hopefully it will relieve the stress of having to kill the monster when alignments are capped and forming parties to cover a wide range of weaknesses, all while worrying about the rewards. The battle strategies and party formations will be a bit easier making it so you can still defeat the enemy efficiently even if you don’t exploit a weakness.

Additionally, we will be making adjustments to the weakness effects as well as creating proper balance where there is no need to rely on temporary items.

We’d also like to monitor the final chapter and look into adjusting the weakness system for other Voidwatch chapters as well, so if you could separate the feedback for the final chapter and previous chapters it would be much appreciated.
