So we completed stage one last night for Ochain and was was trying to brain storm the fastest way to complete colorless souls.

We have a minimum possible 4 teams. I thought we could have 3 teams head to the 3 zones and get tier III and have the person that needs the souls to jump back and forth and collect them. Can anyone think of a faster way to do this?

We completed the ochain stage one by having one team farm the mercury and another team farm the arms and the third kill the nm. We completed that stage in 5 hours. I was hoping to acheive similar results though I understand it may take longer.

Thanks for tha advice

That's probably efficient. You could also make sure to put the name of the T2/T3 into your search comments (per zone). I did this while farming my souls and I had minimal competition/would get asked when I was leaving. Good to know that some people still check search comments.

You won't do this in anything like 5 hours, I did it in a week with 3 people anjd lots of JP competition back in the day though so it's still pretty quick. This stage was made to slow you down and be worse than most of the other easy ones.

Yeah, I fighured this out last night... Sad part is that is I didnt have any compition last night until my last pop. It took over an hour to get my stone to change. All in all I spent 4 and 1/2 hours and got 1 tier 2 from nothing on my character and 1 tier 3 from a tier 2 start on my friends character........Can this be typical?

Unfortunately it is. Colorless Souls are apparently so named because the very act of getting them sucks out your soul....

It's infinitely easier now than it was before. They evened out the T3 soul drop rate so that Ogopogo wasn't the only one double dropping. Most people have their body seals already so you don't really have to compete with them either. And they increased the change rate for clear > colorful, which means that people who are helping you out by getting colorfuls aren't spending hours of their personal time. It's never been easier to make an ochain. But buck the trend and make a harp instead.

Increased the rate of change?! I would hate to see what it wsa before lol. As far as the two drops at time goes, is it more 2 drops than one? I know random is random, but some mobs are defininately more stingy than others....

The rate of change is directly proportionate to whether or not you want it to change. Inversely.

A trick to preventing the gem from changing is to hold onto the gem of the higher level, btw. Don't pop the final level until you're done farming. You can start working on a fresh gem, starting from level 1, and then when it gets to the level just before it will stay there without changing since you can't have more than one of the KI.

Just make sure the person with the unchangeable KI is the one that does most of the popping :)

I did the harp portion of this a few months ago. It took about 3 months (2 nights a week 3 hrs. a night). It really tests the dedication of you and your ls. Not only do you usually have competition, but you also have to deal with it not upgrading. We have been doing alot of empy weapons and this by far is the worst stage to do so far.

Unless I missed a major update, there are no tier IV VNMs in abyssea, and the tier III abyssites break on pop.

Like others said, it will take you a while. I helped a friend make her harp last fall, back when things were harder. We worked on getting upgrades in both Altep and Uleguerand. It was easy to solo upgrade your abyssite to T3 in Altepa, which meant we could focus on T3 kills when we had more people available to help. Ogo was very doable as WHM + NIN, even though I was quite seriously gimp on NIN at the time. Brulo was a bit more dangerous.

I used to stop counting T1 kills without upgrade after 25. That happened to me more than once. I preferred to do my T1->T2 upgrades in Vunkerl. We also had decent luck with double drops from Brulo - to the point that when they announced the fix to the droprates, we were like "wha... it was broken?"

I think catwho was confused. If you wanted to farm seals from the T2, it was common to hold a T3 in order to pop the T2 repeatedly. Then people realized it was pretty easy to sell that T3 pop for a lot of gil.

With TH I almost always got 2 per kill, Leviathan always had the better drop rate (I think the fixed that so they all drop the same now?). My change rate was about 1/4 for shiva > leviathan pop. I always left the zone to head to aby La'thiene(sp) to make my colourful though since the eles in Ule are annoying.

Yeah, I don't know of any tier IV vnms in abyssea. I went to kon. highlands to upgrade a t1 >>> t2. If you have blm leveled it is really easy. They fixed the upgrade rate after we were done, one time I was in there for 90 min. before I got a upgrade.
