I was trying to play again and my password doesnt work. It has been at least 1.5 years. Any suggestions considering square enix is closed?

Have you merged your POL ID with a Square-Enix Account?
Go to http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/ and click "Account Management" to get started.

First, you must create an account. It says "Don't have a Square-Enix Account?" and there's a button beneath that to click.
Follow instructions, create an SE Account, and then once you've created it, log in using it and merge your POL ID(s).

That's because you have to merge POL IDs with your new Square-Enix Account. You need to do this on the website. Don't even bother loading up POL until you've done this.
Go to the website, log in with your Square-Enix Account and Password and then follow steps to merge your POL IDs into your new Square-Enix Account. This is all done on the website. In fact, they're phasing out PlayOnline Viewer entirely, by allowing you to manage your account from their official website like most other games. The only thing POL is used for these days, is a loader for FFXI basically.
EDIT: After you've merged your POL IDs with your Square-Enix Account, when you DO open PlayOnline Viewer, Log In Using the Square-Enix Account, NOT, I repeat, NOT the POL ID and password you were previously using.

got there but my passsword desnt work and it will take forever for POL to get back to me. But thanks for all your help :)
