Quote:
The sneaky and stealthy goblins were able to infiltrate the FINAL FANTASY XI in-game item vaults and pilfer a ton of items right from under our noses... It turns out that it was all for a good cause because they are creating a variety of Golden Gobbiebags packed to the brim with goodies for some lucky adventurers to take home.

We have prepared a special survey based on the events and announcements of VanaFest 2012 to be posted after the event. By filling it out and answering the "Gobbie" question correctly you will be entered into a competition where you could win one of many Golden Gobbiebags, each exploding with a variety of rare in-game items!

Goblin rush over to the submission page to enter by clicking here!

I was distinctly disappointed with the lack of any impressed with the range of useful stuff for Scholar in the Rank 2 prizes. Oh well. My entry is in, here goes nothing!

Surprised it wants you to actually type in your character and select your server though; would have thought that being SE account based that it'd just give you a list of your characters?

Edited due to naiveity which was subsequently corrected by Fynlar ^^

There really should be a consolation prize for everyone who enters but doesn't win. My suggestions to SE for a costume item that turns you into a log went largely ignored for some reason.

I'm at work and can't log into my SE acct to fill this out. Are the questions fill in the blank, or multiple choice? God forbid I misspell something if it's fill in the blank, haha.

Yeah, mine were carefully chosen based on total job benefit. Ryu is just insane for DRG, Phorcy legs are simply the best single piece of equipment in the game, Tessera Saio is the top WS piece for COR and DNC and super sexy looking with Brego Gloves,

Ryunohige (why anyone would take something other than a mythic is beyond my realm of understanding)
5 marrows (I didn't like pretty much any of the choices here, so just went with the one with the current highest gil value)
Huginn Gambieras (most of that new HQ abjuration stuff is not that impressive to me, considering how hard it would be to get normally, but I'll take haste+5% shoes for BST)
The scythe (duh)

On a side note, the one winner of the rank 1 prize is totally gonna be someone who picked an empyrean weapon, most likely someone not realizing that they will only get a level 90 version of the weapon and not 99, meaning they still don't get to skip the 1500 heavy metal plate stage.

Kenkonken is one of the good mythics though. If you wanted to annoy people you should have gotten the SCH staff or something.

I thought SCH Staff is friggin' amazing at lv90+. KKK is pretty good too. If you wanted to annoy people I'd think you're thinking of Claustrum, which has no caster value whatsoever.

can't log in, don't have my security token here. Looking forward to it though ^^

I plan to pick

Daurdabla (yes I know empy is "easy" but there aren't really people falling over to help get me one and I don't have the patience to shout up randoms for the next year... AND its very doubtful I will win anyway) - out of the jobs I main (BST, BLU, BRD) it has the most usefulness value. I used to dream of getting an Aymur, but let's be honest, no one cares what my BST wears - it won't get me parties.

Ephemeron - cause I wouldn't mind a shiny sword for BLU. Could use it for other jobs too.

Sanus Ensis - Ditto as above. Something I could use on BLU and tool around with on other jobs.

Eh, I might just get the Ark Saber because absolutely no one else is. And I am a special snowflake

;)

Also I don't really do melee procs... maybe I will someday, but, my next jobs I am working on are RDM and PUP and then GEO when it comes out, so I doubt it.

I went with Kenkonken, Girru, Iaso Boots. Went with Girru over a nyzul piece since the odds of me joining an LS for Legion are slimmer then the odds of me winning a nyzul(not that I am really all to concern with it). Iaso boots, Movement speed and cure potency for my whm and scholar. What's not to love.

I would have picked D-Harp, but I'm almost halfway to getting it the random number generator way, so I picked else.

The second you fight Prov Watcher, you will likely have a Sanus Ensis. It's a relatively common drop, and most people don't want it/already have it.

For my rank 1 .. i picked Nirvana. I love playing on my smn, and :

Nirvana
(Staff) All Races
DMG: 62 Delay: 402
Accuracy +30
Avatar perpetuation cost -4
Avatar: "Magic Atk. Bonus" +20
"Garland of Bliss"
Aftermath (Incl. Avatars):
Inc. Acc./Atk., Occ. attacks twice
Lv. 75 SMN
Is too sweet to pass up. Plus, these are just the 75 stats, not the 90 stats.

if i recall, i also picked a Thaumus body piece for my thf, and 2 others i can't even remember now. Still, these pieces will all still be dreams to me when this is all said and done. But hey, someone has to win right?

BG wiki has a page for each thing.

Honestly, most of it is not that great IMO, considering how rare all of it is and will likely remain so (this is the kind of stuff only people who have made it to 110 crafting or close to it will be able to possibly hit HQ1 tier on)

The problem with the gear is it can get additional Augments and that is probably where the OMG WTF THATS GOOD sh*t lies. As it stands most of these pieces are mediocre at best without knowing what the possible augments are.

Edit: almost half the mythics can be safely categorized as useless. The other 40% of them are in the "Not worth the effort" category. While maybe 3? Are really good.

Wow, thanks for curing me of my ignorance. It's awesome to see I can clear the whole questline. I honestly didn't know.

Told you I was a filthy casual

Also anyone else reading this thinking that maybe this quest is a precursor to being able to travel to Andolin?

Also hilarious that technically this is an extension of the wings of the goddess storyline... still. So when we talk about how long it took for the storyline to get fleshed out... lol

Yeah, but there's like no info on any of it that I'm aware of, so trying to make any judgments on what's good or not without knowing what they are is spotty at best. We can only go by what we know, which is the base stats.

And if it's just one attempt at augmentation that you get, it's still likely that you're only going to end up with crap augs anyway.

Nah, it's just typical "end of mission line" quest/mission fare. See also: descriptions for Awakening (before The Last Verse was introduced), Eternal Mercenary, Lest We Forget, A Moonlight Requite, etc.

Hehe, add me to the surprisingly large list of people who picked Kenkonken for 1st rank prize. It's not THAT surprising when you consider that a Mythic is the best use of the prize from a standpoint of "hardest to get earning it yourself" standpoint, and that Kenkonken is one of the better Mythics.

Paired that with choices of 5x Marrows, Tessera Saio (nice piece for all 7 of my jobs), and Scythe.

Annihilator
Thaumas coat (but almost went with the hat)
Tessaro Saio
Ark Saber

Part of me thought I should go with the COR or RNG mythic for rarities sake, but Anni was more practical in the end. Of course if BLU was on Excalibur that might have swayed things.

You're quite right, ignore me, only been back a week and got lazy on my research >.< Looked up the Saio only and was comparing to AF3+2. The set actually does come across a certain shade of awesome; didn't exist when I last played.

For what it's worth, I actually did put Tupsimati as my rank 1 prize. I'm working off the following reasoning:
1. If its purely random, I'm not going to win (statistically), so it doesn't matter
2. If they weight the selection towards more active players, I lose anyway, I've only just come back from a year's break, and only play a few nights a week casually
3. If they weight the selection towards weapons that already exist in large numbers, I'd still likely have no chance since everyone is going to pick those ones - they're obviously popular for a reason
4. If they weight the selection towards rare weapons, based on the latest census, there isn't any Tupsimati's in existence at the moment, therefore I give myself a better chance of winning

I really don't have any interest in other jobs at the moment (although that may change with the new ones coming), and since the Tupsimati is one piece of Scholar gear I can honestly say I am never going to own legitimately (I don't see a casual player in a small linkshell amassing the 30k Alexandrite required to upgrade the damn thing), I figured why not list it? Anything else is going to go to waste anyway since I'm not playing any other jobs at the moment.

On an unrelated note, what's with all the Ryunohige? Are there a lot of dragoon lovers out there or is it somehow more powerful than it looks at a glance? Is it just the drakesbane boost?

It's among one of the most ridiculously powerful weapons in the game atm. Not only do you get a +30% damage increase to an already strong WS, it is incredibly easy to keep a 300% TP aftermath up.

On an unrelated note, what's with all the Ryunohige? Are there a lot of dragoon lovers out there or is it somehow more powerful than it looks at a glance? Is it just the drakesbane boost?

It's one of the few mythics that utilizes a Nyzul WS that was/is actually damn good already (Drakesbane)

With most of the other ones you have to use some sh*t WS in order to get aftermaths, and even after the damage boost they get after upgrading the weapon to higher levels, many of them are still sh*t WS

Aftermath turning it into a 151 Damage OA3 weapon aside, a 30% damage bonus on Drakesbane is goddamn bonkers.

You might think 'Well what about Liberator?'. Crappy 25% STR+MND mods on a non-critting and laughably scaling 3.5-4.0 fTP is why. Drakesbane is a straight up 50% STR mod which is still fantastic on a criting WS.

The most important bit is that even though it's only the lv90 version, it's already past the hard part unlike Empyreans which will still have to do 1500 Heavy Metal (we all know the Rank 1 winner will be some asshat wanting a Kannagi, statistically). People are more than ready to jump in on Warden runs if you farm them.

Hands down the strongest weapon in the game (Unless KKK is fixed to OA3 both hands, which I can be kinda sure it doesn't). I considered also Burtgang to go with making an Aegis for an easy brick-wall PLD.

Don't count out Farsha, either. I helped make one in my Empyrean static (everyone got their choice of weapon), and it is by far the most worthless "ultimate" weapon I've ever seen.* An Astolfo will outperform it in pretty much every way, since you're not actually going to be using Cloudsplitter.

*I have never seen a Claustrum in-game, so nyah

Really the only bad thing that can be said about Ryunohige is that it's a Mythic (and as such is a huge pain to make).

As far as I know the first hit only still. *shrug* I wouldn't know what math to do to compare O3 lance with jump bonus verse O3 h2h on one hand with 0(is it negative at 99?) delay added and the O3 transferring to a significantly stronger pet>.>

Rocking Phantasy star online 2. And loving it! Hopefully sega get's it right this time. They are having a much better start this go around then Universe but still a ways off calling it a hot contender in today's MMO market.
