The next FINAL FANTASY XI version update is scheduled to hit Vana'diel on Tuesday, July 24.

Heroines' Holdfast, the tenth anniversary special battlefield, takes center stage in this update along with a supporting cast of battle- and system-related adjustments, not to mention the always popular testing-inspired modifications!

For a full playbill detailing the new and modified content, take a seat in the Updates section of the forums.

Greetings!

As you all have most likely seen already, we just announced the next version update today. Since the collision adjustments will largely affect how game play feels, we would like to gather more feedback and perform more testing on the test server.
We have decided not to implement this during the upcoming version update. (However, the countermeasures so that players are not stacked on top of each other when teleporting to a floor in Nyzul Isle assault will be implemented.)

We would like to get a wide range of feedback and viewpoints on the matter of collision since there is no right or wrong answer. The way people feel about this are quite different. Some players feel that collision should remain, while others feel it should be removed. As such, we would like to see how players feel about this by modifying certain aspects of it during the next test server update. Please stay tuned!

I'm guessing this will also be the day they mail out the prizes for the lottery. Since one of the items all winners are getting is a pass to enter the heroine fight it seems to make sense.

There's going to be a six month round table session about the color of the Adaberk soon.

But they'll probably remove some crucial abilities from Thief, Red Mage and maybe one other job and give them to jobs that don't need to be adjusted or buffed anymore.

Aaaannnndd...there will be no discussion about this whatsoever.

I think the irony is you rarely see enough people on the test server in any one place to actually test an idle clip. And whoever wants it to stay as is now needs thwacked upside the head.

Good evening!

There have been a number of reports where monsters will aggro pet owners once their pet disappears. After running a thorough investigation, we have determined that monster's hate would increase improperly towards their owners. We have also confirmed that this issue occurs on all monsters and it is not restricted to any particular battle contents.

As a result of this issue, during battle, monsters will switch their target to the pet's owner, once the pet disappears.

This issue is scheduled to be addressed in the upcoming version update.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.

In other words summoner pulling (or pet pulling in general) is a bug which the playerbase has been utilizing since 2003 and s-e never knew about it until ten years later. Yup, they pay reeeeal close attention to the strategies we use in our events. Summoner pulling is a ten year old bug? really? I don't know how to respond to this tbh. The words escape me.

No, they're talking about pets despawning in fights like Bismarck or Divine Might and any supertanked mobs will arbitrarily bum-rush the pet's owner.

I misread this at first as them saying that pet's not automatically having hate for the pet's owner was abug, and thought they were getting rid of it, and nearly sh*t myself because of how badly that would @#%^ over pup. Thank god I reread it Smiley: laugh

Thanks for the explanation. I just couldn't figure out from SE's post what it was that was broken and what they were intending to fix.

I hope they tackle deodorize next. Ever since they made mobs disappear to avoid PKing... the spell has never worked right. However crawlers still lose their hate and depop if you cross water. Odd...

Yeah, I haven't seen it do dick in a while (not for lack of trying!)

Something else that would be nice if very situational, and something I thought it did in my first few months in the game, would be if Deodorize could prevent blood (HP) agro, presuming it didn't wear off while fighting. Would be nice to keep the undead off your mages if you take an AoE and stuff.

It'd be nice, and it'd make sense that Deodorize would work to prevent or reduce the chance of blood aggro, since, in the wild, animals that are attracted to blood are attracted to it by its scent, and I don't see any particular reason it should work differently in here. Though arguably it'd just be easier to cure yourself back up rather than cast Deodorize if you're going to go into an area where you run the risk of blood aggro while at yellow HP or lower.

In the past, If you were WHM/THF you could use flee to run from a battle and apply Invis, sneak, deodorize. The mob would then lose aggro to you and appear unclaimed. That was its purpose in the past, since no mob that I know of aggros to smell. As for blood aggro... that would be an awesome idea!

It be useful when you are weak but still want to travel through blood aggro. That's when I really wish it works that way.

Rather than the undead smelling blood, I had always imagined it to be more like Frodo putting on the one ring and being seen by the Nazgul. The closer you get to death, the more clearly the undead can sense your presence.
